Learn to not get hit by the serpents.
I try to avoid taking them on when they're coming from below because they hit you way earlier than it appears they would.
But it's easy if they're coming from the sides.

Other than that, I just go fast and avoid enemies when I can.
Take a bunch of healing and don't mind tanking a few hits to get where you're going.

If you plant them too close to eachother they won't fully grow, so first plant trees that you actually want to grow (they should be two spaces away from eachother iirc), and then plant the other ones to complete the fence.

If you're trying to prevent movement of animals, then yes, lightning rods will work.

How weeds work is if there's a rock/branch/weed on the map there's a chance it'll spawn a rock/branch/weed in an empty square near it every morning and it'll destroy what's inside that square if it's occupied.

This is usually roads or crops, it's a very bad thing if weeds reach your crystalium or storage chest or scarecrow (allowing crows to eat at your crops). Trees, walls, gates and buildings are immune.

The downside of trees is that they automatically plant tree-seeds within a 3 square radius of themselves, but those seeds don't actually destroy anything.

And yeah, very sure. From my experiment of leaving 1 branch in the cindersnap forest (that area south of the farm exit and west of Leah's cottage) and leaving 1 rock north of Jojamart at the start of summer resulted in blobs of 15 and 17 branches/rocks/weeds by the end of summer.

This and 3 other hits even though I have 30 lightning rods on the map has lead me to believe that lightning rods have a range of 10 squares. Clustering the rods is a bad idea.

I got the chicken statue fishing the Leah river with pirate perk+treasurehunter bobbler+magnet bait.

Must have spent 50,000 gold on magnet baits so it's an expensive way to do it, but took me 3 days straight of nothing but fishing.

This is how I want my farm to look like when I'm grown up.

Yes I realize I forgot lightning rods, not 100% sure how they work tho.

Lower left corner will be fruit trees, 6 rows, each a different kind. Upper left corner will be normal trees, 3 rows, 3 kinds. EVERYTHING will be tree-fenced so I can put grass everywhere as decoration so everything will look super natural.

I'm at a loss as to how to continue decorating.

I've hidden chests under the kitchen table (fish/crabpot/forage/fruits/vegetables), the lamps near the staircase hide cooked food and cooked food(sweets), the lamp near the exit holds foraged flowers next to the cultivated flowers chest, the china cabinet hides 3 chests full of furniture.

Tried to make the place feel liveable. Questioning the merits of the museum/trophy room.

Also I like windows.

That's Haley's nook or whatever it's called, I added a lamp and a sunflower pot since she apparently loves sunflowers. I was hiding under the Singing Stone, that thing that makes a crystal sound whenever it's touched.

During the day Haley walks up to random objects on display on tables and looks at them which is neat. Primary reason I've been putting stuff on the little end-tables.

Also, never stand in the way of the wife while she's trying to walk to a new location because then she'll complain the house is messy. It's not messy, she couldn't path to where she wanted to go because you were blocking her so in a passive aggressive way she's calling you a mess.

Ok i figured out what caused it. It was because i had baitmaster and changed my file to pirate, so it fucked it up completely. The ones i managed to empty normally and then bait worked normally the next day.

I guess i'll just empty each one manually without bait and then bait then afterwards so it works.
