In any case, he'd be an NPC.
The exalted Grand Executioner Tarkus, one of the greatest and most respected hunters alive, whose duty is to execute the biggest and most dangerous monsters.
Of course, that'll all mean jack shit when the player character inevitably comes out of fucking nowhere and upstages the guy, but we're trying to build a character here.
In short, he's a big guy with big weapons sent to kill big monsters charged with big crimes by his home nation's big government because they're big weirdos. He's got a big ego because of it, but has a big heart if you get to know him.
I'll figure out better details as I go along.

You can dodge shit you were sure it should have hit you. And you're invulnerable during the whole 2 secs animation. AND you can dodge roars, tremors, bombs, attacks from other players, everything

Also you get an attack bonus for using it.
Its not like it achieves the best times, but it really makes the game a fucking joke.

It really needs a nerf, either make the dodging window stricter, nerf mov values or something.

I stopped using it because it will make you used to dodge towards the monsters attack, instead of trying to roll away, as you should.

I'm using the Heat Haze. My other option was Kut-Ku Stave 1, which has split damage and requires farming a monster that isn't available in Caravan quests; Hunter's Stoutbow, which would be an ugprade but probably waste more time farming up the mats than it would save compared to waiting for a better bow. I literally just unlocked the ability to cast Wild Bow, which has no power coating.

There's also the issue that hunting with Power Coating meant spending more than 50% of the zenny I'm earning on Power Coating. This is ridiculous in low-rank.

your bow not only cannot use power coating, but only has rapid 1 on its third charge level shot and has negative affinity.

i'd recommend making hunters bow and upgrading it to hunter's bow 3 which should be possible at your rank. it has less raw but rapid 3 and can use power coating. that should tide you over until you kill gore maggy and make verzweiflung which is a powerhouse of a spread bow, and can be converted to rapid once you get access to loadup.

I was so disappointed when I picked up MH4U and found that Hammer still had the same moveset when most everything else got huge moveset upgrades. What hammer does was good in MH3U but it really stops being as impressive in MH4U, monsters are just too hyperactive and stunning is no longer anything special.

For most monsters blast explosion damage is almost the same for a poison proc, and the tolerances (and tol increase) are way lower and easier to reach with blast.

Me too. I've already played through X and it just doesn't feel like a complete game either for some reason and it doesn't have to do with the lack of G rank. Plus the narrower FOV and shittier graphics and framerate just made it uncomfortable at times.

I abandoned hammer when I started soloing elder hall shit. Seemed like a fitting point to let go of my favorite weapon in favor of something that objectively works better in the vast majority of situations. I still play hammer when doing co-op because who even cares what your weapon is when you have 4 hunters.

Say what you guys will about hammer, but you can't deny it had a great niche in 4U. Nothing else is nearly as good at abusing basarios glitch.

It TARGETS 60fps. Doesn't always run at it.
The O3DS does run at just about 30fps outside of cutscenes so I'm not sure what you're smoking.
