I have half the matches of redbear and Satt. redbear got extremely lucky with commanders and Satt rides the coat tails of DJ. Satt fucking sucks in anything that isn't a DD. I spent several hundred games practicing in the Wasp and refining my skill base.

How dare I think something while watching my entire team collapse because people don't correct their mistakes.

Also, by not good, I mean that I only average about a 60 percent 50-60ish percent wirnate in them. Not an average 70 percent+ like my CVs.
If I put my mind to it, I could probably bring my DD level up to CV level. The thing is, people are making mistakes even I know not to make as a DD.

The thing is though, this isn't some rare instance. We have repeated instances of people making the same mistakes, on the exact same maps against the same or worse teams and still losing.
Am I supposed to just sit there and accept mediocrity from people who don't learn from their mistakes?
Do you know how frustrating it is watching people die as a CV captain? Its fucking sucks in a competitive environment, often because I'm watching everything you do, every mistake you make and usually exactly how you die.
You don't see what I see unless you are in a CV.

I played RO seriously from 2003 to about 2011.
I quit like a year after renewal hit.
It just wasn't fun anymore. Private servers honestly ended up being more vanilla and less pay 2 win than official servers.

What throws me off about ToS is the reliance of corridors and the lack of an open world.

I mostly player wiz so the most investment I remember doing was sitting for a couple of seconds.

And there's the thing that ToS actually has useful quests and the teleports help with that, compared to RO's "I'm gonna spam fly/teleport for several maps until I get into a grinding spawn to spam AoE for hours". At least ToS tells you a story why slaying cute critters.

Run disguise and vision commanders on everything that isnt a BB. German cruisers (even CAs) lack of armor, like, even a DD will crit on you most of the time, so you abuse mobility and range to survive. On the other hand, they have a really good penetration, range and RoF.
I run 20% reload speed on the german CLs (mod + commander), acceleration 10% (commander) and play very carefuly. If you're spotted within a BB range, you'll die unless you dodge a lot.
As for your commander question, yes, you need to level them up to activate their skills.

Honestly you will roll those commanders pretty fast since you get half of those by reaching X tier and the other ones are 1*. Personally I'd suggest you to rush the T5 DDs because the commander reward for reaching that tier is too good to miss.
As for how to get more commanders, yes, you use merit for that. There's no reason to stack merit until the 10 commanders roll, so feel free to buy the 180 merit one. Only the good goy 10 commanders pack has increased chances of good commanders.

Playing Brit BBs is an abstract kind of suffering.

These botes excel literally at nothing that actually matters. You have Kraut BB speed with Murican BB range and Japanese BB armor. Every other stat is average save for lol sonar.

The layout of secondaries in some of them is atrocious, main guns are in decent spots (the Neptune can broadside with all guns even with that placement). They have decent damage and pen, highest salvo in the Orion so far was 2k on a Kongo. In hawkview they also feel somewhat sluggish when moving on the vertical axis.

The difference is that you have gone as far as were you currently are, RNG went up to being almost top 5, that's like 400 more points that you currently have, and when you touch that high the MM will fuck you hard.
10-20 points for victory.

I can speak from my point and only from what I've seen, and everytime I play with fellow memers at T7 we do with ships we want to get XP with (york in my case) and generally I avoid playing elited ships because I think it's a waste of time when I could be getting XP for other ship lines.
All the "doomstack" and "tierkilling" memes are something that just happens while we are doing that, it's just that we are just better than the common plebs that play this game, including other stacks. Hell, sometimes I drive away people from T7 playing solo.

I can't really remember the last time I've seen RNG in scharn outside 5v5, the last time I played with him he was in a Colorado, and the time before that a Tone. From the Taihou owners, SMD plays with me only at T5-6, with Hikki we go only for T9 when we can, and I never stacked with fade.

My winrate was at 55% until I started to go hard solo with CVs and DDs, you are just talking shit now for the sake of talking shit, and you might even know when and how I play since everyone in the fleet knows I usually burn out once a week for playing too much rage inducing solo matches.

1- Bring a ship that is atleast T6.
The powergap between a T5 (4 for DDs/subs) and a T7 (6 for DDs and subs) can be massive, a T6 isnt that hard to grind and can still put up a fight to T7s.

2- Make sure everybody is on the same page.
Having a general idea of how everybody is going to play lets everybody get ready for the strat so they wont be surprised and forced to follow it.

3- Skipping is not bad
Sometimes the winning move is to not play, if there's something wrong or you're unable to focus properly, just sit out a round and you might have saved your points.

4- Outsiders
If you want to bring a >friend or a replacement to a memer that cant play, make sure everybody agrees and the outsider knows how the group is going to play.

-If someone wants to try a new boat and class, having basic upgrades (guns, AA, radar) and atleast 50 matches on it is better than bringing a stock ship with no personal experience, if its just a different boat but of the same class, 25 matches (and the upgrades) should be enough.

-If you have to leave at some point, make sure everybody knows before the round starts so they can take a break after or bring a replacement.

-Make sure that you dont have a very high ping and/or packet loss at the time of 5v5s and tell the group if there's any issues with your connection.

-If you're not feeling alright physically or mentally, dont force yourself to play and take a break

If you decide to run against top tier teams, I seriously suggest getting scharns instead of Nagatos and Colorados.
As much as I would love to have tier 8-10 5v5s, Scharn is just a clear winner when it comes to BBs at t7.
For cruisers I believe the New Orleans and Tone are tied, Tone is just easier to use.
With DDs one should get an theAsashio/M-class or a lafogoy, there simply isn't a better option.

With CVs it doesn't matter what ship at t7, but who is behind the helm.

Well as far as I know the Scharn has the highest alpha strike of all the BB classes. I don't know how the t7 British BB holds up.
I've been told that the British BBs focus on accuracy and quick aim times by SMD, if this is the case, they might be better for 5v5s.

Also to be honest, Taiho is kinda subpar.
The torpedos are only marginally better USN ones, they have a wider spread as well, meaning that DDs can weave through them much easier from the front.

Taiho planes are slower than USN planes, not as tough and generally not worth it. Also it's hangar is much lower.
But Taiho does have amazing secondaries compared to Yorktown I will give it that.
I don't even know how a Courageous would be.

The taihou/york was an hyperbole to show you how absurd it was to disregard T7 BBs like that. I know how Taihou is compared to York, in detail, thing is you just assumed scharn is better in the same way anyone could assume Taihou is better for the previous hyperbole. Now you get my point?
Let's put Colorado out since it's like the Courageous of the BBs, and brits since no one in the server has a T7 yet. Scharn and Nagato: scharn has better speed, RoF and pen; Nagato has better armor, life, raw damage and secondaries; both ships DPS will depend entirely of the match and comp of the enemy team, and the enemy team focus. Just by pointing that out without going into much deeper detail, you can tell that no one is better than each other for 5v5, since both are good at their particular areas (keeping in mind too that one is a battleship and the other a battlecruiser).

So that's why my "taihou is better than york because TBs" is comparable to your "scharn is better because alpha strike (whatever that means)"

Nagato's max potential damage is 5872 per salvo.
Scharn max potential damage is 4329 per salvo.

Even after considering pen and armor, a nagato salvo on average with a good captain using her will deal more damage than a scharn with the same config.

By the way I'm doing something for easy checking brit's BBs at T7 and to compare them versus scharn and naga (mostly because I'm already tired of navegating the tech tree).

Yeah, our CV in charge of AS wasn't it's job well :^)

Jokes aside, you often discard opinions of people who aren't at your level of CV gameplay, and that's fair. Now I'll discard your opinion, since you barely have a couple of matches at T6 with BBs, and you should listen here, there's a reason why me and RNG had bad results with Naga-Naga and we climbed to top ten with Naga-Scharn, and we have already said several times it's because both ships complement each other, that added to the synergy we generated playing together. DJ BB gameplay is just "hit fast and fast", it's dumb and we countered it countless of times, you could compare it to their York's "send fighters and then send more fighters" or their Tone's "flank and try to kill something before you die".

The last weeks of 5v5s we fucked up as a whole, and we played SEVERAL games were one or more members didn't want to play. That's were chink beats us, since they don't feel anything.

From my PoV, the problem with Naga-Naga was that our only reliable way to handle a DD was constant salvos with secondaries, and its strenght was that anything else was nuked fairly quick, with the Scharn the nuking potential is preserved while providing a better option when dealing with DDs and planes and the Naga's existance is pressure on enemy BBs/CAs since one salvo could delete them or leave them severely wounded.
