Theres only 3 mods that conflicted with it, Covenant Unrestricted (Worldspace Conflict, updated to the lastest version which doesn't edit the worldspaces it did directly) Homemaker (edits a turret, the spotlight) and Spring Cleaning (appears to be conflicting with its edits to The Boston airport, funny enough I can go there, but stepping 3 steps north of the BoS fortifications is instant CTD.

It doesn't take hours, the one in the guide I did in less than 5 minutes. I do it a lot though so I'm used to it but still it isn't actually that hard to make a house with rooms. You get experience for it too so it's a decent way to get a couple levels over time.

I think I'll make Starlight a coliseum. Spectacle I think I'll make into my lair. Just be aware of this; although I used Scrap Everything instead of Spring Cleaning, both were initially known for their cell reset bug (power armours will reset to T-45 for example, chests can respawn loot if empty or dump all of your stored gear in the abyss) AS WELL AS causing graphical glitches if something SHOULD have been around and is no longer there. That's because the game is seemingly hard coded not to render things where a building was but no longer is and the game doesn't know what to do about it.
Spring cleaning brings a bug which prevents the player from running in settlement locations; but there's a fix for that.

I don't know if S.C does the graphical glitch also, but I'd presume it does.

Radio Freedom Guy (RFG) still exists, still has the guy sitting at the HAM radio. Still runs RF.
Eyebots go around the commonwealth like Enclave eyebots did in 3. They report back to RFG with their findings via radiowaves. Their reports aren't in humanised words though, they're beeps - as is canon lore.
RFG takes their beeps and knows each eyebot has a unique pattern to their beeps - this tells him which eyebot is reporting in. He doesn't need to know WHAT the problem is, just that there IS a problem at X location.
RFG tells people on Radio Freedom that X location has an issue. Anyone with a radio tuned to the frequency knows of this. Anyone around a Minuteman eyebot knows of this also.

RFG is not unimportant. He's very important. It's just that he doesn't suddenly know EVERYTHING that's happening without any plausible way of knowing now.

Oh, I ought to add, this would've also brought in further depth to the MM faction. Imagine this:

Instead of being just anywhere in the commonwealth and suddenly knowing about everything; what if it worked like this.
Very few settlements have a HAM radio and it can be built in the utility section of resources. When linked up to a settler radio beacon, it requires one person to be running security decal.
This makes a radius much like the flare gun or artillery radius around settlements which mean another settlement with an ASSIGNED HAM radio can automatically send minutemen to respond to threats.
The more settlements in range, the more minutemen respond.

With the castle in range of one of these settlements rings (rings can and obviously do overlap) they can RECEIVE the signal and their sending range is across the entire commonwealth.
This would make it so if you don't have the castle and you're not in range of the radius' of a connected settlement, you cannot know of an attack. If you wander into the radius, you will get a new radio option pop up and suggest you listen to it. Doing so activates the quest to defend. Refusing ignores it.
Eyebots extend the radius'.

In NV you could be someone who has lived in Reno all their life and only recently decided to leave, or someone who has been a jet addicted raider all their life. In Fallout 4 you are constrained to having lived a normal life until the bombs dropped.

The issue is not so much that everyone is the same. Having a spouse and child is a major detail, but it can be worked with. Granted, if I could have alternate starts I'd be much happier with it, since honestly more than spouse and child being pre-War is way more annoying for character creation. If anything, I feel voiced protag is way more restrictive. The fact it doesn't even let you simulate different voices by altering pitch is honestly frustrating, because you're stuck with this middle of the road suburban American voice.

You're not wrong, you're not completely restricted from RP. But where NV did largely leave you to your own devices on that front, 4 has moments where it tends to remind you of what the devs expect you to do and play as.
