Being slightly better or worse isn't a big deal. The difference between the cyclone and other SMG's is not even in the upper end of single digits and may as well just be statistical noise for how much it actually matters.

This is true of almost all the "NC x is overpowered" stuff. Actually, I'd say most of the stuff people complain about being overpowered in NC is actually underperforming relative to the other faction counterparts - like the airhammer being OP against infantry in spite of the fact the LPPA outperforms it in all categories except air kills, and thus it logically follows that its anti-infantry capability needs to be nerfed.

The amount of ridiculous claims against NC I can only imagine come from the fact that nobody ever argues back, so you perpetually get only one side of the discussion.

Need some advice/recommendations for a squad type I want to try and run:

4 fireteams
[1] 2x Engineer, 1x Medic
[2] 2x Engineer, 1x Medic
[3] 2x Engineer, 1x Medic
[4] 2x infiltrator, 1x Valkyrie pilot (squadleader is in this fireteam)

All engineers, infiltrators and medics have a gun with thermal sights, all engineers have an underbarrel smoke launcher and 2-3 betties, all infiltrators have motion spotters and 2 betties;

Intent:
3 fireteams operating independently but within ~50-100m of each other, last fireteam operates fluidly everywhere, dropping radar dildos so the enemy can be pinpointed for smoke. Valk pilot does hotdrops for people who die.

Smoke is used to make the enemy's medium/long range fire largely ineffective.

Has anyone tried this before? Aside from people being able to disable smoke (This is getting fixed in a patch soon), what's a glaring issue with it, and what could be done to mitigate those issues to improve effectiveness?

The problem with your idea is there's no sustainability to it.

You run out of smoke fast without ammo packs, when someone dies they're out until the valk can make a drop - there's no medics, the crossbows with darts don't last very long and you're offensively gimped while using it whereas motion spotters are hands-free.

I'd only consider a squad of light assaults equipped like that if the purpose is a very short-lived push to take control of a building's roof and local area around it. It's something that relies too much on blueberry support to really be effective.

Tell me there's a way to make the phaseshit in any way a usable weapon?

As much as I dislike believing there's a difference between Factions, there really is.
Farming weapons are used less on NC than any other Faction. The exception being splatMAX.
Most NC weapons and vehicles underperform more than their TR, VS counterparts, but there are still nerf calls which makes me believe the skillcap on NC weapons is much higher than other Factions, and therefore the best NC players shit on everyone else and the only way to beat them is to nerf them.

When looking at the highest ranked players, the NC are 15% ahead of TR and 18% behind VS.

When controlling for less experienced players and looking at more experienced ones:

NC MAX has no range if you want to keep high DPS, which is what makes it so strong at close range.
If you want to actually consistently hit at long range, your DPS goes out of the window. At range you'll get an OHK one time out of ten (assuming you can aim), but for anything else you're pretty fucking shit.

The fact that a fucking sniper can go invisible is already bullshit enough, but the very point of the stalker cloak is to sorta sit still, hope not to get detected, and wait for an easy kill. Most of the time, this easy kill is a mans that is either already engaged in a fight and distracted, or shanking people at a terminal.
I'm alright with there being a competent player stalkering and shotting me, but when you have to waste twenty seconds making sure there isn't a low BR shitter stalker ready to meme on you when you use the vehicle terminal is just plain old fucking bullshit.
The really sad thing is that they justify their actions by saying that they're helping their team by delaying the enemy vehicles, whereas a minute or so barely ever matters.
Even more annoying is the fact that, due to clientside latency fuckery, you can have spawned your vehicle already, then get killed, vehicle is gone but you still lost your nanites.
