now that i have slept insufficiently i'll go and fix up things for a proper "do it yourself" kit and try to figure out what i did correctly
if all goes well you should be able to quickly and comfortably rebuild the update on your own

all you'd have to do is

How do I unlock G rank in MHO? There was no main quest anymore after I got into HR, but at the very least I saw 3 stamp looking things on 3 high risk hunts that I painstakingly grinded to get the next board, but now I don't see anything like that anymore. What do I have to do now?

Striker gunlance is actually really fun
sure it fucking sucks to sit at yellow or maybe orange until your Wyvern's Breath is ready, but once it is the pain doesn't stop since you can generally constantly stab and gun-jumping to chase down an enemy just feels so RIGHT. Word of advice, buy all the tokens you can every day, but do not use them. It may seem painful to lose all that money which seems like so much early on, but just trust me. You'll want them a lot when you're in HR. As for making money, try grinding Talent tokens from unstable missions when you unlock level 20+ large monster hunts. You don't really have much of an outlet for making money yet, but you'll be able to make ends meet with that method, and always remember to open the login bullshit and milestone rewards in the bottom right.

I'm on the path to unlocking G rank soonish??? And I'm thinking of writing a Google doc guide similar to Aslind Samures except without fucking dropping off before you even get to HR

There's an experience cap per day. If you're nearing the experience cap you'll see a red marker on it that indicates where that experience cap hits, and you'll get a warning message in Chinese when you attempt to redeem a quest that gives experience when you've hit the cap. Sometimes people run into walls early in the game like Groose requiring you to craft some an armor piece or something to that effect, but after that it's mostly just experience cap stuff.

Press L to open your quests menu and look at the quest at the very top. If it has a number listed in there like 18 or something, you probably just need to wait until the daily experience refresh at 11:00am PST. If it's not, then make sure it's set as your priority quest and see where they want you to go. You can uncheck other quests by looking at which quests in that menu have a checkmark next to them, and then selecting them and pressing the left dialog option, conversely that also sets them as priority if they're not. Sometimes other sidequests get set as priority and it can be annoying to find what you need to do for the main quest.

It's too early to say right now. With daily EXP caps and the game being in open beta only since the 17th, there really hasn't been enough time to gauge that kind of shit. It'd be easy enough to be fooled into thinking it's "balanced" but I won't be so hasty. I will say that Hammer is fucking garbage right now unless you're solo spin strong hit spamming weakpoints.

I would say that Bowgun is overpowered right now, not because it has the fastest solo times or whatever bullshit. It don't know if it has the best damage or not but I will say that the damage is definitely high relative to the risk of a ranged weapon obviously. It seems to do more damage than in other MH games but I think it might merely be the product of having a control scheme that isn't fucking garbage, which a ranged weapon obviously benefits the most from.

Greatsword is definitely trailing behind longsword and dual sword, but only because they haven't released skills that Greatsword needs to be top tier in more recent MH games. There's no blow and there's no guaranteed weak hitzone stagger. There's no quicksheath or crit draw (that I'm aware of), and there's basically one good armor for greatsword because it has focus on it, but it's slotting is shit and you basically have to sacrifice any survivability skills like evade if you want to do a good DPS build, and no evade or evade distance seems impractical when there's such a high percentage of the current bosses that have the classic kut ku style instant charge heavy hitting hitbox.

To be fair it's not really MHO's fault. They did some things to make the Gen 1 and 2 monsters much more interesting, more so than MH4U did, but the fact is they're still fucking niggers. I would easily recommend MHO to anyone later on but right now they seem to be pushing out mostly crustaceons and the most obnoxious flying wyverns ever.

so, I'm an o3DS, I've hacked it and I'm running on the latest sysNAND update.

I'm using cakes / NTR, I can boot FE if and other jp games just fine yet the MHXv8 .cia just doesn't. Anytime I try to start the game it loads just to tell me "some error occured, hold power to turn off the device blabla".

Ayyy where the fuck is Slicing S in MHX? I need to cut off a Raizex tail and I don't feel like upgrading any blademaster weapons, but WHERE THE FUCK IS SLICING S? 斬裂弾? Is there really only ONE LBG in the entire game that can rapid fire 斬裂弾? And it's a max upgraded end-game LBG and it's apparently only Lv2 斬裂弾, because apparently Lv1 斬裂弾 doesn't exist?

Why can't I combine huskberry and whetstone to get Slicing S? Why Japanese people?

I have a few questions about the patched cia for MHX

I have a prepatched v7 cia of MHX, can I just use the NTR plugin method to apply v9 or do I have to uninstall and use a fresh CIA?

Does anybody have a prepatched v9 cia and can I just install it over the copy I have now, or do I have to uninstall it and reinstall it?

The 4 new flagships seem to have had a bit more attention put into their designs than other monsters. I don't mean like their literal design, but their mechanics.

Across the board, their hitboxes seem incredibly tight, Dinovaldo can slam his tail a milimeter next to me and I'm fine, Tamamitsune slips and slides all over the place but none of it hits you or even trips you, and I don't think I've ever been hit by Raizex's swooping stomp across the ground, despite him landing right on top of me.

I went into the Gamuto fight expecting endless tremors but was pleasantly surprised. I'm sure its colossal size could be conveyed better, but I'm glad they didn't just slap a bunch of tremor moves on it and call it a day.

There's nothing wrong with those. Accurate hitboxes reduce the need for spot-on positioning. You shouldn't be able to just dodge everything on reaction.
