Reposting from the last thread because I'm still desperate for help.

I am in need of advice and help /fog/. I just started to finally get the cozy looking shanty settlements I always wanted, and now my settlers are disappearing en masse. I'm talking a town of 11 settlers only has 5 actually in the town, a town of 8 has four people in it, etc. I've looked around and for the most part the people still left are guards who stand at their posts and generally don't move much. There's a farmer or two left in some places and Provisioners are still walking their routes. This isn't just unnamed settlers either. Marcy Long, Sturges, Anne Hargrave have all gone missing. I encountered one of the settlers from Sanctuary wandering around the Abernathy farm and Preston wandered all the way from Sanctuary to Sunlight Drive-in. Also, the three junkyard dogs I got for the Abernathy farm wandered into my home at the Red Rocket gas station and are just cramped into a corner of the building.

Please send help, I want cozy settlements and I'll never have them at this rate.

Kudos for anon with the pax syringe tip, though once the animation is set in motion (read: immediately after the dialogue) Sinjin kill him even he has been neutralized in the meantime.

The key was to quit from the dialogue BEFORE Avery finish her last sentence and act ASAP - I've never read this tip anywhere, though it's potentially a game changer. From then, it's a walk in the park.

I've been having issues with deciding between the Brotherhood or the Institute.

On one hand, the Institute is my only chance of reuniting with my son, and has technological wonders beyond even Pre-war times, and could cater to my every whim.

On the other, the Brotherhood is the closest thing to a military institution left in the Commonwealth, and is probably the best chance for rebuilding society worldwide for mankind.

I also believe that Synths may be/have the potential to be free-thinking, conscious beings, but since they were shaped by human hands for a specific purpose, that they do not necessarily need to be "free," but they do not need to be destroyed mindlessly as they are a perfectly logical step in technological progression.

The conclusions I've come to are that joining the Institute would be best for me and my son, and for the Institute itself, but joining the Brotherhood would be the best hope for rebuilding mankind topside while avoiding the mistakes of the past.

Also, going Institute means going full Blade Runner, and going Brotherhood means going full Space Marine, and those are both acceptable and extremely cyberpunk options.
