Is 23 to low for flame demon?

Alchemist / medic / hexar

I have the dlc exp food so party compisation isn't an issue. In fact the alchemist is normally a front row gunner that I brought in for this fight.

Everyone's 23. I haven't done that many attempts so I'm going to spend the next day or so keeping everyone at 23 then go to 25. I don't want to be over recommended level since I'm not a pussy.

I gave my medic a panic ring and my bear a flame ring. Should I just give everyone but the medic a flame ring or am I better off subbing the bear tank for a protector with flame wave?

Can a protector flame wave allow the party to survive the first cube explosion? If so can I DPS Zerg him before it summons the two cubes?

just try to get a fire wall 4-5 grimoire, no need to sub the beast out
flame wall only negates the damage of one attack and you will most likely be faced with one from the boss and one from the jellies so either you kill them before they can explode, use beast's force break for that turn or use two grimoires because they stack afaik

tried to ignore Alch and Protector this time around since i always use them but i never liked Ronin or Beast so here we are. everything else in my party is strongly desired. I love the synergy with the remaining three and War Magus is surprisingly offensive, to my delight. i was struggling to get a balance of support this time through

also those yellow pterodactyl enemies hit surprisingly hard, i don't remember that from my Story Mode playthrough. they've been completely piercing through my team so i'm grinding a little on 2 floor already to get above level 7

I'm considering getting Brandish: The Dark Revenant while it's on sale, and I'd like opinions on it from people who've played other very-slow-but-technically-real-time dungeon crawlers, like Anvil of Dawn and Lands of Lore. Brandish is ok, it starts off really slow and easy but it seems to ramp up the difficulty the deeper you get. Just don't expect much besides guarding/attacking and getting wrecked by traps occasionally.

The problem with this is that anything FF related almost seems required to use the official characters in place of just about anything else.

What they could do, however, is set up classes the same way normal EO does, but each of the 4 class designs is a character from the series that corresponds to that class.

Yeah, that was the impression I got. I'm enough of a sucker for a portable dungeon crawler that I'll probably get it. Exploration is the main draw for me, having good combat is just a nice perk in EO. If I enjoyed The Dark Spire, I'll probably like Brandish too.

Anyways, I thought of a couple more.

Harvest Moon-like playing as one of the Farmers, villagers include both NPCs and playable characters from 3. You can romance everyone.

An SRPG based off of Fire Emblem, the main Lord is replaced by either blonde or purple Princess. Maybe have a few huge chapters (similar to Genealogy of the Holy War) where each map is it's own stratum, instead of 25~ like a lot of other Fire Emblems. Maybe make the plot about a war between two+ kingdoms over control of the Yggdrasil tree? Doesn't butcher both franchises like #FE did.

Dauntless Order and Protective Order are really good, though they won't truly shine until the post game. Basically, all of their skills are good, and how you can best spend your points depends on how the rest of your party is. Though come to think of it, you'll probably get more mileage out of Chloe's Barrier later on, because that's able to cancel a lot more things and doesn't automatically vanish the moment a single ailment lands.
