I don't like to pick up evil flowers early at all, but it seems like a really good place to set up your camp in, at least very early.

I need to start playing don't starve again someday. I can't remember if I ever managed to survive through the winter.

I was actually learning as i went (it was my second game, the first game i only lasted 8 days lel)

Picked all the evil flowers eventually because i realised why i was going insane so easily (and with that particular character was an absolute nightmare when it came to building a base of operations)

Turned out to be a really fucking great place to work from, there was a pig house almost directly next to it and fuck load of bee hives around it so it provided a great natural defense too

Shame i died to fucking penguins

One of my playthroughs, 3 waves of fucking penguins jumped out of the sea right on me, then went next to my fucking base.
It was annoying for a while, but then I realized I was invincible to hounds etc.

A Tale of Game's RPG made in 2008 which tells the story of the ex-NBA player Charles Barkley. In the year 2041 a jam of imensurable power, the Chaos Dunk, caused a cataclysm never seen before in the history of humanity. To prevent another disaster, thousands b-ballers were killed in what today is known as The Great B-Ball Purge of 2041 aka The B-Ballnacht.

Now twelve years later, in the post-cyberpocalyptic Neo New York, another Chaos Dunk was performed, and everyone thinks Charles is responsible for the heinous deed. The ex-b-baller, now a target of the B-Ball Removal Department, must prove his innocence in a tale of sacrifice, ballers and jams which will change his life forever...

Did Dingaling say anything on this matter because otherwise I see the unwinnable Buzzo fights as a gameplay/narrative disparity seeing how he gets BTFO by Sweetheart and Buddy, and people like Rando, Cindy, Big Lincoln etc should by all means be stronger than him. Also I would attribute most of his powers to being so high on Joy all of the time it comes out of his ears as he shits small mutants

He's definitely one of the most interesting and tragic characters though

Do you mean a fight/mercy mechanic the same way Undertale implements it, i.e. a talking option in fights? Shin Megami Tensei games use a negotiation system that allows you to recruit and bribe demons or simply talk them into leaving you alone. It doesn't allow you to beat the game with diplomacy only however, most bosses can't be passed by simply talking to them, and not all enemies can be negotiated with.

If you just want games where pacifist mode is an option, lots of older Western RPGs come to mind. Fallout, Planescape Torment, Arcanum, Ultima etc.

I don't know if it's going to become a "staple" per se. Integrating pacifist mechanics straight into the combat system will raise too many eyebrows as to the game copying Undertale.

You got me thinking and I came to the conclusion that I could kinda see more JRPG-style games using the Corruption of Champions system, but with social combat instead of sex, with appropriate stats and modifiers for both if they want to have more actual character mechanics than Undertale while keeping the core pacifist/violent idea. I don't actually like its actual content that much either (growth and such body horror fetishes aren't my cup of tea, and that seemed like 99% of the game) but that's the only example I could think of. But my point is, take the encounter system, change "tease" to "talk" in order to make friends instead of fuckbuddies, and you got a passable pacifist JRPG system.

Maybe Monster Girl Quest has a similar system? Hasn't played that.

Do you think you would have liked Lisa the Painful as well if you had a permanent party of just Rick, Cheeks, and Sticky? With them betraying you at the end to give Buddy to Rando?

One benefit of this is it'd probably have let Dingaling make a lot more cutscenes with Brad interacting with his party.

Though in the end I'm still glad we have 30 unique characters to choose from, even if they're not fleshed out passed their intro, their victory statements and their final words to Brad.

LISA's gameplay was made by the fact you have so many party members with different combat styles and attack effects to pick. With a static party it would be really barebones.

But if Dingaling found a way around it to keep combat engaging? Hard to say. It'd establish more emotional connections with the party, for sure, but it's a big part of LISA's uniqueness how nobody cares, Brad gradually pushes everyone who ever cared about him away and the only people who are willing to travel with him are schmucks who would slit his throat at the first opportunity. With the uncles being permanent party members it'd probably be more goofy and less depressing.
