Honestly, while women are at a disadvantage when we look realistically, there are also several accounts of women warriors in history, from famous political figures in Europe to the gladiatrix, the amazon queens, and the raiders of Anatolia. It's not too far of a stretch to say that in a society where gender roles is less of an issue related to combat (we can assume in DA this could stem from the blight, were the grey wardens took everyone and their mother that wouldn't die from slurping blight blood) that women would take a more common role in combat situations

Still, it is frustrating to see how Bioware *does* pretty much ignore the sexism that they originally addressed in Origins. It does exist, and women do seem to hold a lesser role compared to men overall. Then again, we don't have to deal with any hammy "but I'm a STRONG IDEPENDENT WOMYN"

I'm not going to argue after this, but no, it is not unrealistic for women warriors to exist. The "protecting the women" argument holds absolutely no water unless these women warriors are firing it up on the battlefield and getting themselves pregnant. Avoiding involving women in warfare *does not* have to do with the future of society, it has to do with the society, culture, and the fact that women are not as powerful combatants compared to men.

The entire reason why women need to be protected in a society that puts them in the role of caretakers is because they are the ones who know how to take care of the child in the first place. A society where women warriors is not an anomaly in the first place because of past circumstances and other contexts, such as mages on a battlefield, would lead to compromise.

Most fantasy games just don't address different colored humans or make everyone white since there are usually other intelligent species in the setting that interact with humans so there's already cultural differences between characters and introducing cultural differences based on skin colors of one race further complicates things and just makes the fantasy world trying to be built more like the real world.
