I can't build for shit and just made an ugly tower block. I still found a good 200 hours of stuff to do just by exploring. Starting the game and wandering into a cave system is really fun, and you'll almost always find something useful or interesting down there. Prepping for the bosses and developing better equipment will also eat up a lot of time, so I say it's worth it.

Is being a mage that useful? I'm guessing I'd need to craft some armor that reduces spellcost or something. Melee is reliable yet boring, and ranged is very overpowered once you've sorted out ammunition preserving equipment. I want to be a goddamn wizard but the other two playstyles just seem like better options.

Mage is viable in all points of progression and ends up with the highest DPS weapon in the game. Just treat mana potions like ammo and remember that you basically have no armor so you need to emphasize evasion.

Magic weapons often are the most powerful, but they're also gimmicky. One of the key points of being mage is carrying different spells for different situations instead of spamming the same weapon all the time.
Mana management is another key. You can spam potions like >>125370536 says, but have your DPS severely nerfed, or boost your mana renegeration and stop briefly between attacks to recover.

The DPS loss is inconsequential imo. The fact that you can spam your weapon of choice more than makes up for it. Just put the mana pot hotkey in a comfy spot or use a mana flower if you are extra lazy.

Okay okay, I'll tell.

Basically when you have autosave turned off, the game will autosave your character's inventory when you die, but it won't autosave the world (including contents of chests, etc.)

You can exploit this by taking an item out of a chest, killing yourself, and then hitting Alt+F4. When you reload your file, the item you took out of the chest will still be in the chest, but it will be duplicated to your inventory. I actually discovered this by accident since I normally play with autosave disabled.

Speaking of saving, does everything automatically save to the cloud, or do you need to manually choose this?

The boss themes are nice, but if you're building or mining the music is so repetitive. What sort of stuff do you guys listen to anyway? I find some nice ambient music is relaxing for a long excavation.

A clockwork or metal biome that is an alt for Hallow.
The Hallow is not a good force that it may seem, it spreads the same as corruption.
Crimson actually represents life, a crude form though, while corruption represents consumption or death. The Hallow is rainbows and happy, and an opposite to this is a grey and methodical clockwork/metal biome. Also some items like a technomancy summon would be cool to have. Also it would hopefully add some cool building materials to work with to make some modern/industrial builds.

/tg/, i need your help, i recently started a ranged run and decided to stick with the jungle, but the jungle my world generated is literally three screens long, so i decided to, instead of making something like a treehouse, stick with the underground, but i have no idea of how to build a underground jungle theme house/town, any suggestions?
