most attack based builds can utilitize a weapon swap for single target or aoe damage.
I did that for my groudslammer. had a marohi for aoe and a similar dps rare mace in the swap for singletarget moltenstrikes.

Would it really be much of a mistake as a marauder to get the ele resist from the bandits in normal, instead of the life? I mean, 40 life is not that much in the long run even with +life% nodes, while the resist keeps being relevant.

Speaking of bandits. The normal bandit rewards are very nice. Stuff that you cannot simply get from 1 skill point on a tree or on a jewel, not super important or build enabling, just how it should be for normal. Merciless too is really fitting. By far the best rewards, they enable builds and are very strong boosts to what you're playing. Why the fuck is cruel rewards such pantsu on head retarded horseshit? All of that shit can easily be rolled on jewels or from a single node on the tree depending on your class(for example ranger with the starter 8% AS node) and the skill point gives you the flexibility as well.

Why is cruel in general so shit tier and pointless garbage? REMOVE CRUEL.

Add an action house but with buyout option only available for currency items.

Further add a Mail service that allows people to trade remotely, but still only if both are logged in. (aka you name a price and if your trading partner wants to take the item out of the mail he has to fill in named price first. Also could cost some lower tier orbs depending on the items rarity)

When that crisis hit us, hit the whole general and the game started to crumble and it started crumbling at its weakest link. Of course the weakest link being Chickencorers.

The decision to play chickencore was an ill fated decision for every chickencore player because let's face it, they are all regretting it now.

Once you are into the chicken farm, you cannot get out but what you can do ... you can play the same cyclone or fire totem build you had 2 years ago and let the twitch streamers work out how to deal with that situation.

Temp HC leagues are a thing i would have never wanted to see into operation but now that we have it, it is essential for the global relevance of the game that we sustain it and that we fix it and we sure it up and eject cement into the foundations. Because if we don't, If we do not the Chickens will drag the rest of the game and this general in to the mire for the third time in a row.

GGG's quest to purge block from the game that is for PvP reasoning, while less than 1% of the playerbase even pvps. While a tiny percentage of players even killed Malachai on merciless in a hardcore league.

Meanwhile we have super broken incinerate and flame totems. Both are so overpowered that you wonder what the testers were thinking and you'd seriously wonder why they haven't been nerfed after 2-3 weeks of 2.0 being live they were that overpowered.

Aside from that poison arrow, explosive arrow, cyclone, summoner and SRS are broken as well.

Goodluck buying that in any hardcore league ever for 10 ex starting, a 250 dps sword does mediocre damage. The RT will give a better damage increase than the crit does, only take the crit if you can afford decent accuracy on gear.

Put those last 15 points away, so you have a good idea what your build will look like at 80. Its better to plan it around 55-75, so that at these levels you don't die. Its much easier to die at these levels than 75+ in my experience since by then you have so much hp, armor and regen that you don't really die especially not with block.

Leech is still decent in combination with regen. But regen is just way better since you don't need to deal damage and the leech rate cap isn't capped. Only on warlords mark it is decent if fighting multiple enemies. But enfeeble is a way better defensive used and just get life regen.

A lone node giving 0.8% life regen at the starting point of marauder and then a bigger node giving 1.8% regen already gives 2.6% regen from 2 nodes.

Meanwhile a life leech cluster at an awkward position on the duelist tree gives something like 0.8% leech. The life regen is infinitely better discarding that the leech can stack and works against multiple mobs. The worry of builds shouldn't be groups of enemies but rather smaller groups or single powerful monsters.

Almost every build clears groups of mobs together efficiently and fast.

Why? Just run lightning strike or ice crash if you want a different melee build you can even make dual strike work, you're just not building well enough. There will always be builds that are more efficient than others. Somewhere around when they merged they also turned WoW into shit with dungeon finder menus, trial of the crusader, gated content of icecrown citadel and multiple difficulty crap. The casualization and killing of community started at Wrath. Though 10 and 25 man raids were a brilliant idea overall, multiple difficulties and menus for dungeon finders etc killed it.

Aegis Aurora is probably going to be something I pick up much later or chance/drop myself. It doesn't necessarily rely on it, and just serves to make myself unkillable in all but the strongest 1 shot potential. Problems with this build I can see from here is that I don't really want to dodge, but not sure how I can fit in Unwavering Stance, even though it is a few nodes away, because if I do get it, it doesn't make much sense not to get the Life cluster and Armor cluster right next to it.

The main problem your build will have is that it lacks damage. Therefore it will lack some speed clear time. I have quite a bit of offensive nodes and with a bringer of rain (with blood magic and 3 auras, hatred, herald of ash and arctic armor) + 285 dps mace I still have only 20k dps, and most of it from auras and elemental.

Problem with builds like these is that you forget that dealing damage is also damage mitigation.

It's quite hard to die with my build that has 60% block, 11000 armor 2k evasion. I also have enfeeble just in case and if I'm really worried about a particular boss I can take out a gem and put in fortify. Fortify + enfeeble alone give amazing mitigation.

The biggest problem with shield builds such as yours is that you will be lacking damage.

I also suggest picking up a bringer of rain early in the league they often aren't that expensive only around 1 ex and they increase damage a lot. Even with the block nerf its an amazing item for shield builds especially if you can't afford a 6 L. Otherwise obviously a 6 linked chest with 2-2.5k armor would be better.

I like the idea of using curse on hit with Tempest Shield/Reckoning, and dodge prevents a bit of that, but I guess whatever works. Personally, I like physical damage only, since I feel that elemental damage is really artificial, given at the percentage of mobs that have elemental resists, which is why I try and stay away from abilities like Ice Crash. Of course it will be expensive getting appropriate gear, but since my passive tree is so defensive, wouldn't I be able to compensate by running more offensive gear, especially in the ring slots? I haven't really run into problems with running lower (comparative) dps builds. My greatest concerns aren't really rushing through content, but rather preventing 1 shots, staying alive through random laggy moments, and surviving extremely unlucky reverse lottery situations.

I never really had hardcore characters live past 80, so I really want a character that can potentially push to 100.
