Fuck it, they're all boring. I'd want to see more variation like OoT AND Twilight Princess Ganondorf. All the characters have so much potential but their costumes fall short. Mario Bros. are boring as hell. How hard is it to give Samus slight differences between her suits instead of recolors? They had to give us her Fusion suit colors but couldn't be bothered to actually model it differently?
The most interesting alts are Pikachu and Jiggs because they're actually wearing different shit.

I had kinda stopped playing Smash for a few months but lately friends have wanted to play when they're over. I can't quite tell if they're constantly playing the 3DS version while they're not here (I'm the only one around with a Wii U) or if I've just gotten really shit (I have, but I'm thinking of two different levels of shit), but they're creaming me and it got me mad enough to wanna git gud.

Used to main Lucina but had started playing with Mario a lot toward the end. Haven't got a good feel for Lucina at all anymore. She feels sluggish like half her moves are useless. Mario feels pretty good, but I feel like I'm complete shit anyway. In the last week or two I've legitimately been told by them that I'm a pretty good Mario, but it just feels like an insult considering I'm not winning at all.

When the demo came out I destroyed everyone as Mario. When the real game came out on 3DS I was doing good as Little Mac, later as Lucina. Same characters were working out and I was winning against these guys a lot on the Wii U version, but these days I'd be lucky to beat any of them.

I'd like advice. Maybe some videos to watch. How should I be practicing? Will bots just teach bad habits? People aren't over enough to practice with really. I feel like online is laggy even if only a little. My Internet and router are both fine so I think I'm just picky. Last time I brought it up here I got some shitposter telling me it was my Internet. Anyone here have good Internet and still notice an improvement with a LAN adapter? Might toss one on my christmas list if it'd actually help. It's really scared me off playing online at all but that's probably just hurting my situation of not gitting gud.

One guy refuses to play anyone but Samus, and he's not even a good Samus but his annoying playstyle manages to fuck most of us over. That was actually messing with me even before I took a break.

The more recent stuff was mostly a different guy who was kicking my ass as both Roy and Falco, more so as Falco. I was able to beat him once with my Little Mac, but I was barely trying and probably cheesing him. It was the most hollow victory I ever had.

Aside from those two I probably would regularly face off against a Zero Suit Samus, Kirby/Pikachu, maybe a few others. Besides the Samus faggot most of us play 1-3 characters I'd say. I was trying to get down to a main but at this point I almost just want a clean slate. I'm rolling too much, rushing too much, ignoring most of my moves at times, relying too much on c-stick. I kinda wish I could just wipe my memories of smash from the last 6 months.

If online isn't an option for you try to see if there's a local smash scene in your area, you can play games with those people to practice as well. Maybe your friends even know of one and that's how they've been improving?

Also not really related to what you're posting but I'm starting to feel that with Lucina as well, I don't know it just feels as if this game is starting to speed up and yet Marth and Lucina are still incredibly slow. People are fine tuning their characters getting 30-40% strings and Marth and Lucina just don't have those, seemingly.

Yes. They have habits and 1 frame reaction time at the highest difficulty. They also never punish your own bad habits so those will be reinforced.

Good news for you though, you have friends to invite. Let them know you want to git gud and play together. If you want to try online some more, you can always find someone here or on FG/Anthers to play with.

There are definitely some local smash scenes. I was starting to look into it a couple days ago and found a Twitter about it. Haven't been to anything yet. I asked for a white Smash GameCube controller for Christmas so I'm probably waiting on that before I start going to local stuff. It seems like that's the norm and I don't really wanna fuck around with syncing up a pro controller or something.

My friends aren't at the level where they've been to tournaments or anything close, but they have all played a lot of the original Smash, which I've barely touched. I played a lot of Melee, but we're talking ten years ago. Aside from those two things, we all got into Smash again with the release of Smash 4 on 3DS.

This is a huge problem for me actually. Any tips related to this? It feels like I start to space out while playing a lot. I've had moment where adrenaline kicks in and I play noticeably better, but this is not the norm at all. This may even be related to me getting worse. I'm probably not gonna get an adderall prescription over it but maybe I'll take some ephedrine before I start up Smash tonight.
