Evolution of gameplay. If you seriously belive that after 10 years the game is still going to be "I summon this guy and if he lives next turn I'm going to tribute him for summoned skull and win unless he has dark hole or raigeki" then you're deluded. there's no real thinking about positioning outside of figuring out where a frenzy minion would have the most effect.
There's no thinking about keeping your general safe because your whole point is to get everything you have up in their face
there's no thinking about protecting your high value minions because your minions exist to draw out and tank all your enemies spells and damage while doing as much damage as possible before they die (and it takes a lot to kill them).

There's no actual strategy: it's a faction that relies on repeatedly hitting with everything you have available every turn because your minions are meant to die. Literally every other faction requires more skill than magmar

but it's just a low skill ceiling easy faction, not an overpowered one. Magmar is actually balanced. It's just for stupid people.

they do, it's very rare that I've been able to chase someone onto my side of the field, just an unreliable card. I find that at best it's 4 damage to yourself as an expensive board clear when you're desperate for a little more control

I appreciate them for their honesty. Lyonar is a strong faction that succeeds through honest methods, namely excellent statlines and board control through provoke, they dont have any out of hand bullshit and for all the complaining about holy immolation its because its the only thing out of hand they can do, assuming they also have a 2 drop that the faction has and thats why its balanced as far as im concerned Even their removal is fair, either hitting your own stuff or healing to mitigate the pain of losing your guy.

Easily, from 5-0 id say he won me 20-30% of games hands down.

Healyonar is the most popular deck on the ladder and that decks biggest minions are ironcliffes. So you see people silencing or spending removal on your knights, sunrisers demand answers, ironcliffes instill the fear of divine bond and get silenced at the minimum, Then you have elyx and archon. Both of which continue to demand and in archons case makes costly removal even costlier and opponents really dont want to silence a minion that oozes value from its stats and deals 15 damage divine bonded.

The point is that you play 'zir last and he gets obscene value from stats alone.

A lesser used function is to play him and then suicide yourself

I really like Vetruvian but from what I've heard it only really shines with some rare\expensive cards. I lucked out and got the ayy healer and portal guardian that I heard people talking here so much, they're really nice but I only have one of em'

You disenchant things you'll never use or got nerfed into uselessness for a full refund. Sarlac recently got nerfed since he was a 3 of staple in Abyssian so most people dusted one or two. He's still okay as a one-of in Abyssian.

Same as Hearthstone, you should aim for around 7 gauntlet wins

If you like Vetruvian, play it and work on your deck as you go. If you absolutely don't like a faction, dust cards you get for it.

Leave them, even if you get nothing you will force your opponent to use a mass removal like tempest, plasma storm, ghost lightning or in the worst case scenario a Harvester.
Maybe use them to force a sub-par positioning, idk man there's so much more utility in winnies than just going all face.

Grailmaster seems pretty decent if you can keep it alive for 1-2 turns, since the abilities it gets are pretty decent.

I haven't gone beyond rank 10 or so, though. Is it worth it around there? I guess it's more fun than strategic, but I'm genuinely finding use in it.

Hearthstone grind is fucking impossible unless you pay real money. It takes 2 months of playing every day to unlock one adventure, with maybe 1/4th the cards being used in meta decks. There's like 3 or 4 adventures out so far and even then you still need neutral/class cards that are expensive to make a viable deck. There are expensive decks that are currently dominating most of the competitive scene (P2Vet and Control magmar), but as far as ladder goes, you can try almost anything wacky with enough consistency and still do pretty well in the climbing.
