Looking to make a stealth invasion build for Dark Souls 2. Focusing on hiding and coming out of nowhere to get back stabs and all that with some ranged capabilities.

If you want to effectively co-op with people without fucking over your SM, the best bet is just to use the agape ring right? Or make it so that, if there's a Rat-like Covenant in DaS3, make it so that going through the Rat area is a big shortcut to the big boss of the area (example: going through Doors of Pharros and beating Royal Rat Authority brings you directly to the giant webbed room right before Duke's Dear Freja, or going through Grave of Saints and beating Royal Rat Vanguard brings you directly to where the Hidden Bonfire is in Black Gulch, right before The Rotten. I love souls games, but the weapon/armor upgrade system is pure ass.

They made it less painful in Dark, but it's still really stupid. They should nix the entire standard upgrade path. Only keep the upgrades that actually change the weapon's attributes (fire, magic, etc) or are demon souls weapons. Those are actually worth something. It would simplify a lot.

It's just annoying and ultimately pointless busiwork. You always have to keep aware of it, keep track of which chunks/whatever you have, which vendors buy them. It adds nothing to the game, as by the end you're in the exact same place where you started. You're just keeping pace with the game.

This is a legitimate criticism. Leveling up just to keep pace with the game is pointless. Leveling should be about specialization, you get to choose your characters path. Otherwize your character is on a treadmill.

Anything with base lightning damage on it already. The Heide Spear and Heide Greatlance are pretty good. Don't infuse them with lightning though, just use a gold pine resin or cast sunlight blade on them instead. Trust me, you get more damage that way.

If you liked DS2 and haven't played the DLC, I'd say SOTFS is worth it for the DLC alone, really fun stuff. Durability was patched for all versions on PC, and SOTFS is fairly active on PC as well, been getting summoned at a good clip in the last hour (it's most active on weekends, whereas vanilla is dead). You probably won't get invaded much, but you can usually find someone to summon and if YOU want to invade as a red phantom that always finds you a victim real quick.

I actually tried all the dlcs when pirating to see what 60 fps would be like, but it was a bit empty without jolly coop (or invasions I guess)

I dont really care much about invasions but I enjoy the coop (mainly for helping others)

not sure how much better or worse the experience would be with dlcs and actual multi access. A few of the dlc areas were kind of aids solo (gauntlet to smelter 2.0)

Looking through the changes a bit, it seems petrified hollows are everywhere, as are invisible hollows(?) and a ton of pursuer additions for some reason.

I'm still slightly salty that they nerfed miracles as hard as they did from vanilla launch.

I'm in the SM tier just below you. Drangleic Castle (first bonfire) is pretty much a guaranteed summon area for me at any time of day. Other happening spots are the DLCs, Undead Crypt, and Shrine of Amana, though activity in those areas is more dependent on whether or not it's an active time for the game.

It's just kind of flat and anticlimactic in my opinion. Bosses are generally the less challenging part of the game. And even though the areas are generally more grandiose in their design there's no 'wow' moments like when you first make it to anor londo in das1.

Is the artorias lefthand GS in DS2 any good? I messed around with it just testing moveset (without stats) and it seemed like it COULD be neat, but was hoping someone who has tried it in pve (and maybe pvp) could tell me.

There is a lot wrong with hallways, they make boring levels. And a lot of people agree that 1 isn't as strong past Anor Londo because of it. But it's still way better than 2 because of the way areas still tie into each other. Like how you can see the fucking Centipede from Ceaseless fog door ledge because the area is laid out like any real place would be.
