Build fortress in CRAG biome Y/N?
>>
>>123711332
that's a 4k render of the RTG (Realistic Terrain Generation) mod. Google it, just note it's an alpha mod
>>
>>123713163
As long as it's a dark and dingy fortress.
>>
>>123713163
Hope you can get plenty of ladders. On the other hand, you'll have plenty of height to make some good murder holes.

Come to think of it, what are the finer points of fortress design in Minecraft?
>>
>>123712425
Those are some tiny fucking trains in Minecraft's scale. They're like one meter tall, and two long. Are you building clown cars on that serb or what?
>>
>>123713686

That's just how TrainCraft is.

Not without precedent, though. There's a tourist railway in England that's about the same size ratio.
>>
QUESTION

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BIOME (mods included)
>>
>>123715604
Ocean
>>
>>123715604
Roofed forests and mesas are indisputably the best vanilla biomes, but the former are too common and the latter too rare. Magical Forests from Thaumcraft are pretty awesome. I love exotic grass colors in general. >>123713163 also looks really cool, but I haven't used whatever mod it's from. I'm not sure if it counts, but I also really love DimDoors' pitch-black pocket dimension. They're charmingly disorienting until you get some blocks down, and a pocket dimension is the perfect place to practice a little dark magic.

origin valley, it tickles my nostalgia, but it fades away kind of quickly since the biome doesn't capture all of alpha intricacies

Any biome with a very rich green does well in my book. jungles look good when you deforest them

Can anyone help with finding a server from a terrible description from a friend?
Everyone spawns on a yellow clay island, and you play mini games until you get down to two people and they PvP battle for the victor. When you die you spectate from above or something?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

What are some good mods for Android?
>>
>>123723510
What?
That is the name of the biome. The one from BoP that looks like alpha's grass/tree colors and, to an extent, the worldgen. it's just missing the shear dirtcliffs and large mountains

Also, the origin grass counts as plantable for many plants, do you don't have to hoe it or need water

seriously
ExU is bloat, but everything is configurable

about the only exception I've seen is bedrock drums. disabling bedrock ingots but not drums will leave bedrock drums in, recipeless.

in all other cases it will register neither the recipe nor add the item/block to the gameregistry

So, what are some sky lands mods? All I remember was just a giant map someone made at 1.2 or so that looked so vanilla, but always looked for generations mods and all I found where just new dimensions, but no actually all biomes on Sky.

I know I could just edit the presets and these shits, but I would prefer a mod though to generate good sky lands.

While fooling around with thaumcraft i found flux goo can actually be drained by thirsty tanks. I always thought flux goo cannot be manipulated like other fluids but with further fooling around i got myself some drum full of flux goo. Is there any usage for that or i just wasted a good drum?

Decided I'd love to play the game again, but with the old generation.
I'm talking beta 1.7.3.

I need to know a few things though.
What's the best way to downgrade? I remember reading there's some sort of launcher for downgrading to earlier versions. Is that still a thing?
Am I better off just pirating 1.7.3? There seem to be very few seeders for that, not sure if that'll work out.
Also, can I play multiplayer with a friend through hamachi on that old version? I don't recall if that was possible.

>>
>>123786603
Steak/Pork for saturation. Pumpkin pie for raw hunger. One pie and one steak together will have you set for a long while (from 3 hunger, when you stop being able to sprint).

Or if you weren't a poorfag you could snack on golden carrots exclusively; this is especially viable in vanilla where you have nothing better to do with gold anyway.
>>
>>123789093
If you have actually bought the game you can just go to the regular launcher and create a new profile,
then you have to select both of the "Use beta/Alpha minecraft versions", you can now select any old minecraft version you want all the way back to Classic versions
>>
>>123789093
If you want the old world generation, you should look into Old World Generation:

http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1281910-teds-world-gen-mods-realistic-world-gen-alpha-1-3

>What's the best way to downgrade?
MultiMC is the least painful way to do this, there are multiple versions of MC there.
>>
>>123789576
Remember when Gold was at least useful for Notch Apples?
>>
>>123789754
When do you even need Notch Apples, though? A regular Golden Apple or two will get you through a Wither fight just fine, and that's as hard as vanilla combat can possibly get.

Friendly reminder that if you aren't eating GOLD carrots (given you don't have a mod installed with something better) you are not minmaxing hard enough.

Why do people discourage installing AppleCore? People realize it doesn't actually affect gameplay, right? Having visible saturation is pretty handy, and it looks relatively nice.

>>
>>123799852
It's reasonably fun, actually, if you don't mind "a bit" of grind. The key is to build a pack around it treating it like a total conversion mod, like TFC. It WILL be the main focus of your pack, no matter what, but you can use just about anything alongside it.

Huh. Now thinking about it, would Cursed Earth or even a regular mob spawner work in a pocket dimension, since it's all fullbright in there? Is there any spawner (sans MFR) that can spawn mobs regardless of light level? I have Wrath Cages, vanilla mob spawners, Cursed Earth and I think that's it.

>>123802524
blood magic has a ritual that can cause mobs to spawn regardless of light level, though it only effects light level based spawns. you could use that + cursed earth if cursed earth itself wouldn't work. not sure if the stuff would ignite though.

By microcrafting one item and never touching the rest of the mod again, because it's all just reskinned food with equally microcrafty recipes.
Might as well use Minetweaker or whatever to make bread restore all your hunger.

Nope, I've already tested that. Looks like pocket dimensions are hardcoded to not allow any spawns, even if you change their biome.

I'm okay with voxel models, but these could use some work. The sword is the closest to looking presentable.

You can make some nice voxel models for mc weapons if you try. I know >minigame servers, but check out hypixel's dumb lil war lords hall of weapons, some of them look reasonably nice.

I want to yank some of them out of the texture pack and use them in singleplayer

I've been think of evilcraft to my magic pack, what kind of cool shit can you do with it.
>>
>>123811174
It has dark glass similar to ExU
You can use it alongside blood magic for simple back and forth conversions of EC blood to BM LP , which also means you can get LP in the field (blood arsenal is better for this)
You can use blood to repair items, or to remove enchantments from items and put them on books, or make special items
It has it's own special method of farming mob drops, you can capture a mobs soul in a box and pump blood into a machine with that box in it to generate that mob inside. (honestly, I disable this, not because it's particularly powerful, but because is causes any mob that dies to spawn an invisible ghost entity that can goof up other mods that try to kill or target mobs automatically. it's an okay system, just not one most mods are friendly with)
It has a number of items, like an AoE weapon, a charm that cures status ailments
Offers a few ways to control the weather (weather temples spawn in the world)

>>
>>123824350
Most mobfarms tend to be for tnt, because people love tnt. good for getting rid of shit or destroying enemies

Though a mob farm for string could feasibly make sense, if just having a shitload of sheep wasn't easier

Having a ton of bones for bonemeal is useful for auto farms. though since the most you will ever need is like a stack of food, auto farms are kind of pointless

You absolute madman!
Some ideas if you want to hear it (feel free to ignore):
>travel wires/skyrails could be electrified
>two kinds of skyhooks: unpowered and powered
>unpowered skyhooks could only travel downwards, might not have insulation vs electricity (you get damage when trying it on a powered skyrail)
>powered skyhooks could actually 'reel up' and go wherever they wanted
>maybe an in-between insulated skyhook that just protects you from shocks but does not provide motorized travel
>powered skyrails could be connected to your electrical system and act as power wires
>don't think hanging your butt in the breeze is cool? Try wearing railboots, you'll slide from wire to wire in style! (also comes in 2 or 3 flavors)
>>
>>123849745
Sadly, I am not an ImmEng dev, and I'm a bit hesitant to send in a patch for something they're still working on.

There are no special cables for skyhooks right now. You can swing around on either power lines or cosmetic steel/hemp cables. Power lines can only connect to power connectors, the others can only use the decorative connectors you see in the picture. Swinging around is rather leisurely and goes the same speed regardless of whether you're going up or down - and if you're not careful you can swing right though a solid block and choke yourself. It's also a bit choppy, it is still a WIP after all.

>>
>>123850457
"Commie" is pretty much shorthand for "common/mutual(?) warehouse(s)/workshops where people store crap they don't need and surplus".

For example, where I am, I find shittons of marble. I don't need marble. What I do need is, say, sand; someone who has a ton of sand and doesn't use it deposits it there. I haul my marble to commie, store it, and grab sand to haul back to my place. Etc. It's a nice system so you don't have to constantly ask "Okay, who has X and can give me some?" and instead just nip down to commie and grab whatever. It also works as a staging post for new players to get what they need to get started (or, in the case of some players, get greedy and take shit they don't need, then get bored because they're at endgame already and never rejoin).

I also use it for the machines/blocks I don't have at my base/don't want to have/haven't gotten around to making yet/is too big. I'm not big into Thaumcraft but some stuff is occasionally useful (like golems or the repair stuff) so I drop by the library and grab whatever. I try to bring something every time I drop by so I actually contribute instead of just diminishing the supplies.

English isn't my first language, so I don't know if the first word is correct - was looking for a good translation of "oпщий"

Because people without an internal understand of the engine think everything around them is a conspiracy designed to make Minecraft a terrible game.

The issue is probably broken chunkloading. Might stem from OptiFine or a corrupt map. If it happens on vanilla alone, report to Mojang.

Yes, and - ironically - Forge has reimplemented that to work as a model!

Also, in 1.9, they make it even harder to do the overrides.

>not using common sense to realize that somewhere below the models is still a tessellator

Actually, the BakedQuad thing is done so that the Tessellator stage can happen in one big swoop whereas the expensive CPU calculations are done in threads - also, in newer Forge, further post-processing on the quads (applying lighting, etc) can be done in a standardized manner. Just look at how well models handle lighting in 1.7.10.

I had a dream I was in some swampish place that was half tainted, there were sheep-armadillo creatures that would follow you and make noises, apparently being near them for too long would cause a large one to come after you and attack you.

I was living with some old teacher man in this swamp and helping him get stuff to fix his house with after one of the big sheepadillos attacked his house and destroyed the back of it.

Weird thing is this time, instead of the dream feeling minecraft-like, things were more real-world ish, like the terrain wasn't blocky in the dream, but there were normal items with their shitty mc textures in the dreams.

I don't know why the fuck I would just randomly dream about minecraft after all these fucking years.

Indeed. However, there's quite a few bugs in 1.7.10 people don't really think about! One on the coder side is "not rendering anything in pass 1 when pass 1 is requested will cause your renderer to crash the game sometimes", which causes extra load on the GPU to work around. BugfixMod's list also has a few fixed in 1.8, but those are more cosmetic than crash-inducing.

I guess that's my main grief - I need to deal with bugs that got into singleplayer because of a game "mode" I don't play with.

1.2.5 to 1.4.7 had MUH RP2 for a while, so it makes sense. Same for 1.4.7 to 1.5.2.
1.5.2 to 1.6.4 has no mods (especially Thermal Expansions and Thaumcraft) for a while, IIRC, so it made sense as well.
1.6.4 to 1.7.2 made the most sense of them all because that version was fucking terrible. Once 1.7.10 hit there was no excuse anymore, though, especially after Fastcraft came out and the chunk generation bug was fixed.
1.7.10 to 1.8.8 makes even more sense because that version is completely devoid of content and it's even worse than 1.7.2. There's no reason to move unless you're a FtBabby who needs the newest thing so you can play with rabbits while ignoring all backported features.

>>123913889
PhysicsFix.

>>123903608
No. 1.8 has a ton of engine improvements, but it had botched rendering - Rainwarrior's work fixes that. Botched rendering is the ONLY reason nobody wanted to move in the first place. (One of the cool things in 1.8 off the top of my head is a vanilla API for locking inventories, letting modders finally make proper LWC-like mods which work with everything - Crayfish has already made one!)

Also, I remember complaints about 1.6 being slower than 1.5. Heh.
>>
>>123937668
>letting modders finally make proper LWC-like mods which work with everything
Can you explain? What's LWC, and what is the scope of "everything?" Don't most forgemods work with one another effortlessly? Or do you mean to say they're essentially futureproofed from any drastic changes in future MC versions?
>>
>>123938675
LWC is a Bukkit plugin which let you lock chests and other inventories.

"Everything" means that there's an API in vanilla Minecraft now, ILockableObject/TileEntityLockable, which lets your inventory be locked to a specific user/keycode/anything.

Most Forgemods work with one another effortlessly? Heh. In the scope of loading together and working on the same items, yes - but the moment you want to do something not in vanilla you're going to have a lot of fun getting cooperation running.

No thanks I like exploring far beyond my base and going in more than a single direction in order to remember how to get back, instant teleportation mods are cheap, and vanilla maps are absolute shit.

>Daily reminder that if you don't use spice of life you're shit.
No thanks, hunger is a halfassed mechanic and managing it is a chore, nothing less, nothing more.
It's just like eating IRL, only in minecraft you don't have taste to make up for it, and healthiness/unhealthiness doesn't exist either.
I already waste enough time munching on food just to keep my bar maxed out so I can regenerate health, there is literally no point in wasting every other minute just to cook/craft different dishes just to have that shitty bar maxed out all the time unless you're autistic and find dull repetitive behavior entertaining.

>Daily reminder that if you don't have at least 100 mods installed you might as well go home keed.
>muh arbitrary meaningless number
Depends on what those 100 mods are. If you're running 100 aesthetic mods that change a single thing or add a single thing each you're pretty much playing vanilla which makes you a shitter, if you're using 100 "big mods" you're very likely to be playing a kitchen sink pack which also makes you a shitter.

It's an isometric render made with an external program like Chunky. You don't need a really beefy computer to use it, but rendering can take hours. So, no, it's not real time rendering.

What's that? The little baby doesn't know how to coordinate himself without cheats? Aww, poor little baby.

>unless you're autistic and find dull repetitive behavior entertaining.
See, this is the thing with you "autistic callers". You often don't realize that you are the the one doing repetitive things. You merely fill the bar up over and over again, and you make nothing else of it, while I like to try different things, different sources of food. I like to make farms for each of them, study how to automate them, make factories for them if that's the case, etc. The hunger system stops being bad if you instal spice of life, and huger actually becomes a decent threat to you if you're going out in a big trip without proper preparation.

>This is shit and I can make it better, but I wont and I'll complain about it instead.
Come on dude... I'm sure there are plenty of remove hunger mods out there if you really don't like it, but I like survival aspects, and things like hunger, thirst, exhaustion and things like that are always fun to have if done well. But the way vanilla minecraft does it is appalling, and comes down to "make farm of anything really. BAM, done, don't have to worry about this again." Might as well not even be there to be honest.

>If you're running 100 aesthetic mods that change a single thing or add a single thing each you're pretty much playing vanilla which makes you a shitter, if you're using 100 "big mods" you're very likely to be playing a kitchen sink pack which also makes you a shitter.

Even if I hate HATE HATE ore management, it's something you have to do only once and it's well worth it. I generally tend to have about 5 mods or so that add copper ores, but using creative mode and WAILA (or by just knowing which mods to disable ahead of time), it's pretty easy to pinpoint those you want to go. It's is well worth the effort to have all those cool mods together, but I really wish someone made a "basic ores" mod which was used by the community. Of course, that won't happen because modders are little self centered bitches.
>>
>>124081814
What about that was confusing to you?

>mod used to be one single functional block
>new version adds multiple dungeon only items to replace the one block, adds its own type of villagers, and its own version of copper

>>
>>124082392
No. Modding is proven to make people retarded at this point. If you see a simple mod that you like, it WILL 100% (according to statistics), degrade into a shitfest of ores as the modder suffers the change. If this doesn't happen it will simply vanish from existence, and never be updated again, which is why those cases are not included in the statistics.
>>
>>124081548

>implying I just explore a handful of chunks away from my base and not a massive distance away where it's unreasonable that a normal human being would remember the way back
>implying I play every day and always log off at my base
Are you some kind of a NEET who never needs to log off with no warning and plays nothing but MC or just a shitter who never wanders more than a single chunk away from his base and generates everything out on thin air with Ex Nihilo? No reasonable human being can be expected to find his way back from a significant amount of chunks away when every biome looks exactly the same, especially not if he needs to log off one day and doesn't feel like playing the next.
What are you going to pull next, "NEI is also for babies because real men like me have memorized every single modded recipe"?

>second paragraph
Maybe I don't want a giant farm looking way out of place in my themed base. Maybe I do, what prevents me from making different farms? Nothing. I can do them if I can be assed to, I can skip them if I can't be, and unlike you, nothing forces me to. Sandbox freedom.
>study how to automate them
I'm sure you need a whole course and a diploma to figure out you need to plop down whatever planter/harvester blocks are in your pack.

>third paragraph
I use a bauble that automatically sates my hunger. That way food isn't completely useless if I had removed hunger completely, and I still maintain a sense of progression. Unlike you who has to look up a new recipe for Pam's Harvestbloat every other time he needs to eat.

I understand that you don't like the hunger at all, that's why I suggested a hunger removing mod. I like the extra challenge it brings.
>Sandbox freedom
You must be a fucking idiot. Why don't you always play in creative then? All the "sandbox freedom" you may want. And by that logic, I guess you don't use mods with energy system, because then you don't HAVE to make generators! Talk about that "sandbox freedom" mang! I bet you don't even like to mine, ugh, why can't I just have all my ores neatly stacked in chests at the beginning of the game? MUH "sandbox freedom(tm)"

>I use a bauble that automatically sates my hunger. That way food isn't completely useless if I had removed hunger completely, and I still maintain a sense of progression. Unlike you who has to look up a new recipe for Pam's Harvestbloat every other time he needs to eat.
>QQ, I don't like doing things. MUH "sandbox freedom(tm)".
I also have things that sate my hunger, and in my case that feeling of progression is much rewarding, since hunger actually poses a threat. And I bet you're going to say "looking up recipes is not a challenge." Whatever mang.

What's the current opinion of the Windows 10 Minecraft? Because it's in C++, you can do a lot of things you can't in the original (like crazy render distances: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aGL1qS0qho), but of course, all the mods are incompatible.

But he's very much right. Voxels can already be very taxing rendering wise, and that paired with an ogl client over a VM can really heavily impact performance, even if you manage to use video memory well (which minecraft doesn't even fucking attempt to do), granted that's pretty hard to do anyway with voxels, and that is one of the reasons why voxels are such a pain to render. Not to mention the amount of CPU power needed to simulate your average modded world in a large scale, nobody in their right minds would've made minecraft in java if they knew the game was going to be used as it is today.
>>
>>124084287
>Come on anon, it's not hard. I like the threat of getting lost. Can you stop being such a carebear?
I knew it, you're assblasted because you can't get attached to your shitty bases that are 90% farm to sate your hunger.

Maybe I want to play survival. Calm the fuck down autismo.

>And I bet you're going to say "looking up recipes is not a challenge."
HAHAHAHAHA how can a single person lack this much self awareness
>>
>>124086286
Java is indeed a cancerous language that should not be used except if you have to, but saying that you can have big rendering distances just because Minecraft 10 is made in C++ is stupid.

A much more likely reason that Minecraft for windows 10 can do that is that it uses the much more recent Direct3d 11 instead of the ancient OGL 2.
>>
>>124086617
Feeling like I can get lost at any second makes me love my facilities even more. It feels like home man, and if I even get a bit lost I panic! It also makes exploration and traveling feel like a journey, and not just a "walk forward until you find something cool and then walk back" kind of deal. But hey, I play POE, so I guess I hate fun.

You want to play survival? But why? I thought you were all about that sweet "sandbox freedom(tm)"

I don't know what to say to your third reply. Vapid as they come.
>>
>>124086935
Well, yes, but it makes it a possibility. I doubt they could get far with java in terms of rendering voxels.

In fact, I'll go as far as to say that if they implemented the rendering engine as is in C++ right now, the rendering performance would be 5 to 10 times better, probably even more, that's how much CPU voxels eat.

I've heard somewhere that they actually began using OGL 3 and proper buffers at some point. Imagine my surprise when I heard the performance was even worst. Lots of people said both things, but I haven't bothered to check, to be honest. If it is true, I applaud the fine folks at mojang, because THAT takes skill.

Yeah and I use that freedom to choose to play survival. It's not my problem that triggers your autism which restricts you a purely 2D world. Nor is my choice of mods giving me more freedom than whatever jumble of mods you have that has you spend all of your time microcrafting food, only to microcraft some more when you're finally done. It's no wonder you're so pissed all the time when you can't even play properly.

>I don't know what to say to your third reply. Vapid as they come.

>Yeah and I use that freedom to choose to play survival.
And I use my freedom to have that kind of challenge the same way you use your freedom to have other kinds of challenges you enjoy (I take it you enjoy gathering resources and feeling like you're limited by that for instance, which is also a big thing for me.) How can you be so dense? And before you reply, lets look at what you previously wrote again:

>what prevents me from making different farms? Nothing. I can do them if I can be assed to, I can skip them if I can't be, and unlike you, nothing forces me to. Sandbox freedom.
Come on, such a superior being like you cannot think this is not retarded after what you told me... Talk about hypocrite.

>If you seriously believe looking up recipes in NEI is okay but at the same time mock using a minimap then you're beyond my conversational skills.
For me they are not the same at all. While exploring is something I have access to immediately, building something has rules that are put in place by limitations of the system. While there is a way to find your way across the map if you're careful, there are many many item combinations, and it would be pretty dumb to try them all just to find out new items huh? BUT, and this is very important, I would love that more mods actually gave you a way of learning those through playing the game, like thaumcraft does for instance, and for the mods that do that I NEVER look up recipes, simply because I don't want to spoil myself, and want to have the limitation of working for that knowledge.

Limitations call for creativity, and make every machine I build or come up with even greater and more enjoyable. I love to have limitation when I know I have the tools somewhere to conquer that limitation. For instance, I never do one block poles to the sky, I choose to use scaffolding instead, even if the former is more convenient.
>>
what are these spergs raving about, I'm not bothering to read any of it since it looks like bullshit
>>
>>124088960
Oh, and the navigation aspect is another of those limitations of course. At first it may be hard to move around, then I can get a map and it will be a bit easier, then I can get vehicles and it will be faster, then I can get things like teleporters to move from facility to facility when I am really advanced. If there was an item that you could craft (and that was hard to craft), like a GPS, that would be cool! For the sense of direction at the beginning I can do things like leave breadcrumbs of little outposts or towers, and it really makes the world seem bigger to me.

>>124089195
>I'm not reading any of it
>Still thinks it's spergs
I'm not going to lie, it's spergs, but are you seriously implying that every single discussion is spergs raving? Nigga, you're the real dumb one here.

If I'm not mistaken this is because the tiling code is written wrong. Take it up with the devs, or fix it yourself and fork/merge it; it should be pretty easy
>>
>>124090740
But it is. Or at least for me it is because I don't simply go down into my mine and mine for ages and then return and do it again (I hope you don't do that either, or I might have bad news for you anon...) Instead I try out different mining systems. I might use boring machines, and then I have to figure out how the resources return to me. I might use turtles or any other kind of computers to aid that too. On top of that I'll have to build the infrastructure that allows me to do that, like stations, lab rooms for testing, computer rooms for managing the robots, and whatever else is needed. Next there is ore processing, and don't get me started on that.

Same thing with making items, it's a challenge! I'll need tons of wiring, tons of bricks, tons of this and that, and I'm not going to make all that myself over and over again, because again, I'm not THAT autistic. I'll need to think about where everything will be, the pipes, the energy, the machines, the resources.

At the end of the day minecraft is all about creating challenges for yourself, which I do a lot, and I enjoy the game a lot for allowing me to do that. Of course, it's just fine if your challenge is building pretty houses that's absolutely fine (I'm a lab guy myself, and I tend to build huge HUGE facilities underground, my last one had a massive power cell in the middle running along three stories, it was amazing. Let me tell you, it was quite the challenge to figure out where all the cables would go, how would the rooms be powered, how the transportation would be handled (you wouldn't want to be walking around there, believe me), and all those kinds of things), but if you think nothing in minecraft is a challenge, yet you still play it then sorry to tell you son, but you are the autist.
