It's honestly a bit debated on the specifics but the general idea that a great one washed up, the people of byrgenwerth are either responsible for it's death or just did experiments on it's corpse, the blood was turning people into monsters and the church didn't stop their experiments they just cut them up and continued to inject blood into people to see what happens.

Because of the confusing and weird plot there's no big wham moment and that's sad but thats the gist of it.

Pthumerian fucker is hard if you can't git gud at parrying, if you can he's not too bad. Headless BLB was almost a show stopper for me even on a BL60 character as there's no NPC in that area to rek him for you.

It's hard to explain but basically it's playing something that isn't happening so you're seeing something and hitting an input but the game hasn't actually reached the point to register that input making your command useless.

Again, in most games it's not an issue but it can cause hiccups at the worst times especially when you combine display and input lag.

The timeline isn't specific so it's incredibly difficult to pinpoint but our best way of placing it is some time after the church discovered everything, Kos washed up. Kos was definitely not first contact at least.

Byrgenwerth arrives, slaughters everyone, either the orphan was alive and they kill it OR it was dead and just sympathetic to the people of the village since some great ones are, and caused the whole nightmarish plague.

I don't know if we have ANY reason to believe the orphan was killed but I like the idea of it as the hidden sin of the church, in their search for knowledge they murdered a god and it created the nightmare.

Skill scaling gems exist, they're drops from FRC keepers. Unfortunately, the difference between abyssal and non-abyssal scaling gems is huge for whatever reason, so skill scaling gems aren't a viable option.

They're panoramic shots, I take a lot of pictures of the area. Say you start bottom left of the scene and take your first picture, then move up a bit, another picture, move up a bit, etc. than do the same thing a bit more to the right and so on.
Then I load the folder with all the pictures for the panorama in a soft called Hugin, tweak a bit of numbers and trust the automated processing to not fuck up the result.
It takes a while but it's worth it. Also Bloodborne's FOV is between 50 and 60 I think, at least with mpnocular, for those interested.

Ihyll root drops from Queen Yharnam. You'll have to clear the defiled chalice to get the story Ihyll, but the new rite on story chalices makes it easier.

Loran root drops from Lower Loran Loran Darkbeast on layer 3. He's kind of a pain, don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it.

Isz root drops from Ebrietas in the Isz chalice. Probably the fastest and easiest to get.

If you just want to use Roar and Bone, those don't do damage, so you can stay at minimum. However arc damage softcaps at 70, so you'd need to be around at least 50 to start seeing returns there. In the meantime you can use gloves to stun foes. But yeah if it's a pure arc build you're making go to 70 minimum

Moonlight Sword is basically a quality weapon, only the projectiles scale with arcane. There's a fuckton of weapon options for arc though. I'm greatly enjoying the Saif and you will probably want the parasite too.

Cane ARCane and fire saw spear are the classics though, can't really go wrong with em

Ihyl was the Pthumerians' capital. It was named after their monarch. Yharnam was also named after one of their other monarchs. I assume every time a city is made, it's named after their monarch or that they do the same and shift their capital to the city that was named after their latest monarch. I think the former is more likely, though, with the first monarch being Ihyl and Pthumeru Ihyl being the title all future monarchs hold.

There are 3 'free' rocks in chests. One in each type of chalice, check OP for details.
If you want to farm more every D5 (not just FRC) layer 3 and 4 boss has a chance of dropping rock so make some easy ISZ with Celestiall AYYYYY or BriBri with a tower in the middle and savescum to save time.

Someone check my reasoning.

The Healing Church was established only once after Laurence died, because it was his beast skull and the knowledge contained within that was needed for its establishment.

Judging by her Cainhurst bloodline and the pool of blood present underneath Maria's corpse, Maria most likely gave birth to a stillborn child around the time of her death; the source of the umbilical cord you can find in the Hunter's Workshop.

Laurence and Gehrman beckoned the Moon Presence using that umbilical cord.

So, the Healing Church must not have existed around the time the fishing village was raided by the College of Byrgenwerth and the "normal" people like Adeline (a Church blood saint) ended up in the Nightmare by accident (one of the explanations Simon surmised on how the player character arrived at the Nightmare) or the curse of the Hunters extends to all those who've taken in the blood of the Great Ones (hence the scared Beasts and the many corpse-like people in Ludwig's boss area) and that people like Adeline continued trying to find meaning in their lives/striving for an epiphany while they were stuck in the Nightmare.

Only just got the dlc, whats a good weapon in the dlc for pvp and pve equally?

Anyone else think that the way guns were implemented was sort of half-assed?
Like the concept of a ranged parry tool is really neat and it's very useful in the early part of the game, but about halfway through you just stop encountering parryable enemies altogether, and the only times you ever actually use your gun are for the occasional hunter enemy or bosses like Gascoigne and Maria that are purpose-built to be parryspammed to death.

It's sort of like how bleed became next to useless in dark souls 1 beyond the first few areas because no worthwhile enemies were vulnerable to it anymore. I'm sure it matters in pvp, but playing through the game it just feels like I have no reason to be carrying around a gun most of the time.

You can also parry boars, brain trusts, scourge beasts, watchers. There really is quite a lot you can parry.
