Rates are pretty bad overall but they put a lot of stuff into the game that make the rates hurt less.

Knight Medals: 15 for doing an all-class gacha, 3 for a class specific gacha. You use these to buy whatever card you want, almost. They add cards there every few weeks.

(whatever) coins: Farm these coins to roll on a special 'event' gacha. If you do the 10k coin one you'll get a lot of UR cards as it removed almost everything 4* and lower. Some 5* evo and exp cards in there but you can also get some UR battle cards.

Missions: Free shit

Fame: Now it's not a big pain to farm fame on a MR card from the Gacha.

Boosted Gacha first tries: Rates are ass but they do boost the rates some times on theme gachas.

First tries on a gacha: It only takes 15 stones for an 11 roll on a gacha if it's your first time, 25 for the second and 50 for three and up(1, 2, 5 for single). If you're a non-IAP, you can use these first time gachas to farm for knight medals, as you'll always get 15 on an 11 roll, no matter the cost. So, you can spend 15 stones and get 15 medals every new gacha and maybe get something nice along the way.

Just know that if you play the sea version, knight medals won't likely be added till later on, about 6 months for the JP version. I had about 150 stones till saved up from the start and blew them all on some gacha to get a high HP Diva lead card, failed and kind of stopped playing for awhile. Month later, knight medals were added so I was a bit salty from 'wasting' all those stones.

If you start JP, rerolling is way faster then before and even faster with Titanium back-up to wipe the data. You also get a special a gacha to roll for only your Arthur and after one normal dungeon and leveling a card you get enough stones to do an 11 roll on any gacha.

The meta shifted around half-ish year ago to a lower mana combo deck. A lot of the top tier cards at the start were high costing cards like Claire(For the HP and boost) for Diva but she's a 5 cost and can't even be used till turn 3 so it's a dead card in your hand till then and even then you have to give up your whole turn to buff instead of healing.

To give an example Claire for 5 gives 11,964 phy attack to your team. New Percival for Diva gives 13,422 magic to one person while upping crit rate for only 2 mana, easily playable with another healing card on turn 2 so you can still keep your team up.

They also add in a lot of combo cards that care about chains and support cards so it's important to combo with 2 and 3 mana cards often.

Uhhhhh, I don't know. Like I explained, things changed a lot awhile ago and a lot of the best cards to start with turned to crap. The curve isn't that sharp but there were a few instances around the Christmas/New Years event where you /had/ to have the X-mas Nimue or it was impossible to survive as a Merc turn 2, since the best AoE healing a Diva had were 5c and most single targets were 3c, leaving her to decide who lives and who dies without her team helping her heal.

But if I had to pick something really tossed everything on it's head, it would be a system not a card: the divergence system. It made a lot of older cards good, really really good. Like from shit tier to A+ tier good.

Also magic mercs are kind of boss with a Diva.

I have a few cards that need to be diverged to Diva, like that Nimue and going to grab some more status healing from the knight medals. You really need to focus on low costing recovery amps with low cost AoE heals instead of high cost AoEs.

I built this in 5 weeks and that's just a general purpose deck; I have plenty of alternative options to adjust for specific situations depending on the boss.

Anyways, point is MA2 is a game where it's fairly easy to get a competent deck to do lategame/endgame event stuff with. It's a game where the core gameplay is in its events anyways, so naturally it makes sense to get players to that point in a reasonable amount of time.

Diva probably has the worst pool of farmables, honestly, what with only Suzaku, Maple, and Lindwurm being good keyable SP dungeon drops. Base cost is 5,736,000 coins. Subtract 3,000 for every PoF dl starter you pulled from the PoT or monster that dropped. You can also cut donw on some stuff just by virtue of grinding levels. 23-4 farming will get you a bunch of free Dark Pegawyrms, and levels in chapter 3 are great to farm on monster drop day because you can get 2-4 beastmen from one level. Other than that, you'll be dedicated your weekends to coin creeps, and you can set your timezones ahead on Fridays and back on Sundays to get more time. Having coin enhancers like Bajanna, Yulia and Zeera will help. There's also a coin boost otomo being added to the otomo PoT, but pulling from there is shit so unless you're whaling or lucky as shit, you may as well consider it as not existing.

It just looks daunting all at once. Just use your weekends for coin creeps and use the weekdays for clearing the main story, level grinding, farming job unlock & recode mats, etc. It'll take you a couple months but it's worth it in the end. You'll have a handful of max level 100% boost characters, some of which are even useful. You'll be able to easily guarantee the full 40% boost transfer for every recode you do except for Bahamut/Odin/Leviathan, since they use a drop monster from their own descends, though farming them for primary SB% is more efficient anyway.

For reference, I made about 750k just grinding the Lucia event to get 100% boost for the SS and recoded Z and both Leonidas and Storm Witch. It's less than half as efficient as Coin Creeps, but that was from two weeks of using all my stamina on it. Unfortunately, you just missed a half-stamina coin creeps in the arena a week or two ago, but they may run it again some time.

Started trying out MA2 and I picked thief but I literally have no idea what is going on since I can't into moonrunes. Just trying to follow the guide posted in the OP and did the 2 free draws, ended up with one 5*.

According to the pictures in the reroll tier section of the guide the one I drew is on there, is this good enough to start playing the game or should I be aiming to get two or more 5* before starting? I can handle reroll hell if needed (rerolled for a legendary in SS when I started); I just want to start the game on the right foot instead of gimping myself.

Actually, which specific card/s would be the best to reroll for with thief? And which of the gacha options should I be picking anyway? One of my draws was from the danmachi one because I recognized it but don't really know if that was a good idea or not.

One of the best buff cards Diva has, so you want to get it at some point, sooner than later. Almost mandatory to have it if you're running the hardest difficulty bosses where you're expected to have the merc kill it by 7C or die horribly.

Things to roll for is situational, but healing buff cards (stuff like cat Rowena or the red Percival or green Nimue, or like the Lioness card you have in your deck) are pretty essential. After that, it depends on what the dungeon calls for. Something like the blue Rife, which is a 2cost party heal + party regen are pretty solid staples, though.

Green Percival (the buff) is pretty incredible, almost definitely a must-have in any Diva deck.
