Pyro can airblast with flamethrower m2. No damage but it knocks back and can reflect rockets and grenades
Stickies can be broken by shooting them with bullets
Engineer can pack up an erected building into a toolbox with m2 and carry it around, but cannot fight while doing so. Dispensers and teleporters can be upgraded.
Medigun has faster healing on teammates who haven't taken damage for several seconds
Sniper rifle has a .2 second period after scoping in when a headshot won't deal extra damage
Spy can switch his disguise weapon with b (default key) and ammo refills cloak meter. The knife has zero startup before hitting. 20% damage reduction while cloaked.
When someone dies, you can swap your weapon out for theirs if you could normally equip it.

It actually helps to identify players, especially a spy disguised as you (you can spot him out because he has your hats)
although there are many unlocks, not many are absolutely necessary

Cosmetics can be obnoxious but they rarely hinder class recognition due to weapon outlines, movement patterns and gait unique to a class and sound design. Those who say it's a big problem either do not actually play the game or are mentally lazy.

Nostalgia. Release TF2 had a lot of balance problems that were only found after the general skill level of the playerbase increased.
Admittedly people have gotten too attached to gimmicky unlocks that make them perform well below what they should.

Most of the stock weapons are still very solid, with the exception of melee unlocks. Try to build up the fundamentals before running unlocks full time.
Learn how to do a basic rocket jump and sticky jump. Holding forward in mid-air does nothing! Strafing does.
Crouching in mid air lets you land on higher ledges.
Assuming your team isn't all snipers and spies, having a medic gives you a huge advantage if the other team doesn't have one.
Avoid 2fort and dustbowl, they are poorly designed maps. Stay away from hightower for now.

The shorter the time of the clip, the easier it is to get decent quality, which is why fragging classes like Soldier and Scout tend to be better for .webms. Webm for Retards is a stupid program though, and often you'll have to render several times with the same settings to get a good outcome.

Hey TF2g, newb to the thread here.
Today I woke up to a random trade offer from someone I don't know for a Killer Exclusive worth 1100+ Keys (according to backpack.tf) and only 2 in existence. The offer was for just 100 Keys with a note saying qs for quicksell.
I'm of the mindset that anything too good to be true usually is, so I did some background checking and it looks like the item has been scammed, which I assume means duplicated, and the profile has a history of trading for scammed items.
I asked on reddit, but the general response was "take the moral highground and don't accept scammed goods", which normally I'd be fine with, but for $1000+ I'm also willing to put morals and the high ground to one side.
My question is, is the item essentially valueless since it's been scammed? Is the value cut in half, or taken down 10%, or 90%, or what? I guess it's just whether I can find someone who'd be willing to trade for it and what they'd be willing to pay?
Any input welcomed, it's a strange scenario to be in and I don't want to be a dumbass whichever way I go.

If it is a huge scamming thing, then it's probably affecting DOTA or CS:GO most of all, since both of those games have much a much bigger playerbase than TF2. That and killing off third party sites that rake in millions that don't see Valve's pockets at all. I doubt they care about TF2 at this point.

Stick to stock weapons.
Unlocks surely give you some edge over certain situations or formations.
Where stock forces you to play smarter with retreats, unlocks can carry you yet at the next corner you can get blown away because of the same unlock.
Secondary unlock slightly changes the way you play a class in general.
There are several different type of melee unlocks, with different purposes.
Most primary unlocks are just sidegrades and hardly differs from your stock weapon.
Melee weapon of choice generally depends on what you need most, utility you didn't get from secondary or more damage for putting random crits in use, if available to your primary.
Easiest class should be Medic and Heavy; despite their unlocks their gameplay hardly changes; because they're the backbone of the team.
Soldier and Demo are pretty easy too if you can get into the rocket/pipe jumping, air steering and crouchjumps.
Soldier and Medic kinda takes the cake here on being newbie friendly because their mobility is top tier and they don't go down easily as other classes.
If Soldier and Medic seems too distant to you, you may find peace behind a sentry by playing Engineer.
Scout is the tough part of things, they suffer from sentries but have double'd cap rate and great for hit'n'run tactics on high value targets
You may enjoy Pyro, Sniper or Spy later. These trio have a weird balance between'em in a team. Pyro generally acts like the middle man between two in a match. However, I suggest you to stay away from all three for a while.
All classes are specified in certain ranges, and obviously they have some downsides to them. Being too slow, too loud or too fragile are major problems, which generally depends on your secondary to solve the problems. However don't get surprised if certain items are banned from league plays.

Medic and Engineer are high value targets.
Pyro is a high value target from distance as well, you can't get close to the Engineer or Sniper without sweeping their line of fire.
Teleporters are high value buildings, they make you win games just by carrying them. A Spy is a best kind to counter teleporters if you can't take out sentry nest in time at all.
Sentries can be take out with a pocket and medic, that pocket is usually a Soldier or Heavy because they are less problematic with range.
However Demo or Pyro are not bad choices regarding they can terrorize small spaces when they have any kind of terrain advantage.
Demo does best when he's kritz'd, Pyro requires invulnerability because of short range, Heavy can work with any über. (yet better stay away from vaccinator).
When you deploy your invulnerability über, try to run before your pocket to reduce pressure fire slowdown coming from sentry.
Spies have many different stab techniques and there are good videos over at youtube, just ask more and you shall receive.
Spies can't always rely on their disguises, when pushing through the enemy lines your best bet will be your cloak and invisibility. Otherwise it's not believable to see a Pyro running behind of the attack line aimlessly.
Rest relies on your accuracy and common sense. Think about bullet fall, projectile speed, work on circle strafing, twitch shots, hitbox abuses and so on...

Fixed a teleporter-trap exploit inside the tunnel after the first control point
Updated PASS Time mode
Each class now has slightly different throwing power and arc
During overtime, the round doesn't end until the jack has been neutral for a few seconds (tf_passtime_overtime_idle_sec)
All available enemy goals will show a reticle on the HUD while carrying the jack
Added max pass range parameter to passtime_logic
Jack won't automatically respawn unless it's been picked up at least once

See this is why I don't like jump maps much, thy introduce the various different parts of rocket jumping but not really how to apply it.
You're never going to pogo jump on an actual map. You WILL, however, be speedpogoing, so pogo sections on jump maps are literally filler sections that don't really teach you anything.
So you specifically mention that you're going fast but still failing to pogo. Your problem is that you're not accounting for your change in speed. Rockets move at a fixed speed; you do not. When you fire downward, if you're going fast enough, you have to aim slightly higher up to account for the time it takes for the rocket to hit the ground. On a regular pogo like the ones in beginner maps the difference is negligible, but when you want to go faster you actually do have to account for how fast you're going.

Dude, it's your medic's job to jump around behind you and warn you if it ever bumps on anything. You hardly need a Pyro to check for spies.
