I just realized something about the genocide route
The way that it's written, Chara is basically taking over your body, like he did with Asriel. However, unlike Asriel, you're going along with it.
Unless you quit. Unless you stop before it's too late, go back, and reset everything, so everything can go back to normal. Even though you're technically not at fault for the actions, you're entirely at fault for allowing it to happen, you have the entire ability in your hands to make everyone happy and to make the world a better place, and you choose not to allow it to happen. You choose to kill everyone. You choose to allow Chara to take possession of your soul. And after all, is that not worse than doing it yourself?

No, I don't fucking believe it. That's not what a tragic hero is, and that's not what he is in the game.
In the game he's an extremely powerful SOB that can tell that timelines are repeating, essentially making him into an extremely apathetic guy who puts on a fake smile until he decides to put his life on the line to convince the player to stop what they're doing and either leave the world there, or reset it and do things right. Or, the player does everything right and maybe he finally cares at some point because it seems like the world is going to stay this way.

NONE of this has ANYTHING to do with how the game shows it. Sans saying that line in the restaurant is his attempt at dark humor, and hinting towards how he'd be in the genocide route.

I'm making my sister play the game, and she's also skipping a lot of dialog. At least I first - I told her that a lot of dialog was little hints, loose ends that eventually get tied together, brick jokes, etc, and that she "wouldn't watch Scrubs skipping all the dialog just so she can get to the medical parts", but even then she kinda still tries to skip most of it, asking me if what this and that character says is important or not, etc.

I can kinda understand because she's absolutely not a gamer, and the only games she really ever played are Super Mario games on our NES & SNES, so cutscenes & in-game dialog aren't really her thing (even though she does seem to appreciate the whole story the game has, and is skipping less and less dialog the more she plays but holy shit your friend.

I think Chara wasn't that evil but the 'guidance' made her permanently evil and demonic so to speak so I guess there might be 4 entity within Frisk.
