Now This Is Podracing Edition

NOTE: The general consensus at /kspg/ is that you should torrent the game rather than purchasing it. The developer, Squad, is incompetent, extremely mismanaged, and is very resistant to all feedback or criticism. Furthermore, despite being poorly made, lacking a proper development team, years of unfixed bugs, and being in need of a serious physics and optimization overhaul, Squad has gone ahead and decided to add just a couple new features and jump straight to version 1.0 without proper balancing and bug fixing, just to boost sales. With their performance to date, it's clear that they do not deserve your shekels. If and when Squad begins developing KSP like the competent adults they like to think they are and stops acting abusively and manipulatively towards their community, we'll remove the above disclaimer. Until then, we as a community have decided that it stays.

Understand that we here at /kspg/ don't hate KSP; we've simply grown bitter over the way Squad has dragged such a promising title into the mud, and hope that our input might help to keep this sinking ship afloat a bit longer. However, we cannot in good conscience recommend buying this game to anyone.

Why the fuck is my center of lift so far forward? I'm using the newest FAR which apparently works with 1.0.5 but my centre of lift somehow always ends up at the front.

As soon as I put a nosecone on this thing the fucking Centre of Lift goes forward by 300 miles, did they fuck something up again
>>
>>122557040
No, your plane is just ridiculously back-heavy with tons of lift right where all the weight is. Bulk up the center a bit more, you dingus.
>>
>>122557083
All the fuel is in the fucking front, with only empty fuselages at the back.

I have no idea how to "bulk it" up at the front. I tried adding an SAS module but that somehow ended up shifting the centre of lift even further forward.
>>
>>122557131
You still have your engines and a massively thick wing right on top of eachother. I'd suggest changing the craft to use Mk2 instead of Mk1 parts, since they weigh more.
Or maybe FAR is actually broken, I dunno.
>>
>>122557239
If I move the engines or shit anywhere else it also results in total retardation. I tried putting extra weight by adding heavy parts to the front and this somehow made the centre of lift leap a metre forward, like the fucking Goo Containers contained anti gravity

Help meeee I want a nice looking plane

Never said equivalent. The teacher did say Islam was a fairly violent religion regardless, Christianity is too with it's laws, just not to the same degree as Islam.

Read Dt.13:6-10 for example, the difference is no Christian in modern times actually does that while the majority of muslims do believe in it.

This is actually kind of funny. So they planet is round, but the runway is a model that's straight. So there's a hight difference between the middle and both ends. As soon as you start on one end the gravity will make you roll "downhill" since both ends are a few meters higher than the middle of it.

Numerous reasons. Despite having years to work on the game, they learned nothing from New Vegas and all the QoL things they added that made the game more fun than Fallout 3, the plot somehow manages to be worse than that of Fallout 3, it's a buggy disaster in a year where the backlash against buggy games has been growing more and more, the dialogue system is really clunky and awkward in both use and results, and the "building" system is a downright unusable mess for anything more complex than spamming prefabs. The lack of a skill system removes any sort of character progression, and leaves it down to perks that are mostly a bunch of boring slots you fill until you can get more weapon/armor smithing skills. Specialization between different weapon types is no longer present, and changes over to essentially a direct progression, with mods having a minimal impact on that.

It was also overmarketed and overhyped, which isn't helping it any.

Except that he's wrong. If you want to mine the Koran for quotes, sure, you'll find plenty of references to putting disbelievers to death. However, like any religious document that is well over a millennium old, you'll find that it contradicts itself on that matter in so many places in so many ways that saying that it "commands all disbelievers everywhere to be put to death at all times" is both syntactically nonsensical, as well as just plain wrong.

Their very laws for making righteous war, for example, state that religion shouldn't be forced upon enemy prisoners or civilians.

Really, it's almost as if most extremist groups only follow the parts of their religious works that don't inconvenience their stance on things important to them, like killing westerners.
>>
>>122567584

The quaran says things like that a lot. It is a war manual, the religion was formed from out of a war. Islam being a religion of peace is a complete lie. This is why terrorist groups like isis exist, they follow the literal translation of the quaran.

>>
>>122550350
I think we might have had the same teacher. We got an assignment to "read the quran" to better understand how peaceful muslims are, and why we should let them invade our nation.
The chapters were:
1. Hygiene in the desert
2. Fervent worship of Allah is the cure to being sad after losing a loved one
3. Mohammad walks through a city
I don't doubt that these things were in the quran, but then they're hardly representative of the religion. The bible has dozens of pages devoted to genealogy of ancient kings, but that doesn't really represent what Jesus taught.

Working on a small craft for landing on laythe.

Able to slowly fly about 140 m/s on kerbin.

Radiators protect the engines making it able to preform atmospheric reentry with no fairing (to reduce overall weight)

Weights about 2.3 tons and has a total of 5k delta V on its own. Since laythe is like 95% ocean its supposed to bring the kerbal to land.

ksp reaction wheel are ridiculously powerful. The reaction wheels in the capsule are more than enough, unless you have a large craft. That craft is nowhere near large.

so, /kspg/, I had a female over last night, one who has taken an interest in KSP before, to the point of talking about it with other people in an attempt to “promote” it. Anyway, I ran a few things by her to see what, if any of it would be compelling to her.

1) After watching me fly for ten minutes, she was surprised I could load “other planes”

2) After asking me to go to the mun, upon arriving there she was picking at her nails. She literally started texting her boyfriend as we entered its SOI, I mentioned we'd be landing soon and she looked up long enough to ask why the moon had craters, then went back to texting.

I pretended to run into an issue 100m from the surface to add some interest. She didn't understand that the ship doing a flip was bad and when I landed with an epic suicide burn and a hard crashdown on all 4 gear followed by a bounce I recovered from, she seemed unphased.

I asked her if she wanted to try flying and it basically went like this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWY9BAMB7_U

Oh and she seemed confused by the concept of an orbit. She kept asking me what the blue line was.

I may have to run more experiments. It's literally like asking a Mexican to create art or looking for an alcoholics anonymous meeting in Ireland or trying to check in to your local atheist in Dubai.

I dont know how you english speaking people call it, but it was an 8-month course where they teach you the basics and then they make you do an internship with a team.
It is not really a school, because the "institute" that makes it is not classified as such, but yeah, it worked pretty much like a school.

Have I been calling it wrong the whole time? I always assumed these thing were called trading courses.

She's 26.

The past two years she's gone from a close friend to someone who grates on my nerves to be around though, I think its hormones or something, because she literally flicked a burning ember onto a crowd of people walking on the street and got into an argument with me about whether or not I was allowed to make my own choices about who I sleep with (she was trying to get me to fuck her friend)

>>
>>122591470

I can't understand the rover autopilot. There's no tooltips, nothing in the manual about the rover autopilot, and most of the controls don't seem to do anything.

For instance, I set it to go to a waypoint, and it just sits and spins. What am I doing wrong?
>>
>>122592908
Is this guy serious? Okay, so what do you want help with exactly? I'm still having a hard time taking you seriously... You complained about your lack of ability to go interplanetary, then straight up said you use the debug menu for infinite fuel.

Why don't you try, oh I dunno, thinking your way out of that paper bag? Stick a fuel depot in LKO dipshit...

I've had two orange dildos and a mainsail fully fueled, under my transfer stage in LKO. Took the whole thing to eeloo. Sure it wasn't pretty, but that's another story.

If your just going to sit here and bitch that the games too hard, then admit to cheating instead of owning up to your failures, then everyone is going to shit on you.

I have a question, I haven't played in a while, but now my turbofans seem to be losing thrust at about 20kms up at mach 2 even though I have plenty of intakeair.

Is this new? I'm using FAR. Also it seems it has no problem getting up to mach 3 at lower altitudes.

I'm not going to answer anything relevant to your query, but just so you know, km/s and km are two very, very different things.

km is how high roket go

km/s is how fast roket go

This has been fun. Let's do it again soon.
>>
>>122610051
You probably were using the ramjets. Turbofans don't like the lack of pressure or speed. Turbofans are for subsonic planes.
Turboprops, turbofans, turbojets, all work on different situations.

They targeted gamers.

Gamers.

We're a group of people who will sit for hours, days, even weeks on end performing some of the hardest, most mentally demanding tasks. Over, and over, and over all for nothing more than a little digital token saying we did.

We'll spend most if not all of our free time min maxing the stats of a fictional character all to draw out a single extra point of damage per second.

Many of us have made careers out of doing just these things: slogging through the grind, all day, the same quests over and over, hundreds of times to the point where we know every little detail such that some have attained such gamer nirvana that they can literally play these games blindfolded.

Do these people have any idea how many controllers have been smashed, systems over heated, disks and carts destroyed in frustration? All to later be referred to as bragging rights?

These people honestly think this is a battle they can win? They take our media? We're already building a new one without them. They take our devs? Gamers aren't shy about throwing their money else where. They think calling us racist, misogynistic, rape apologists is going to change us? We've been called worse things by prepubescent 10 year olds with a shitty head set. They picked a fight against a group that's already grown desensitized to their strategies and methods. Who enjoy the battle of attrition they've threatened us with. Who take it as a challenge when they tell us we no longer matter. Our obsession with proving we can after being told we can't is so deeply ingrained from years of dealing with big brothers/sisters and friends laughing at how pathetic we used to be that proving you people wrong has become a very real need; a honed reflex.

Gamers are competitive, hard core, by nature. We love a challenge. The worst thing you did in all of this was to challenge us. You're not special, you're not original, you're not the first; this is just another boss fight.

If b9 eve rupdates his mod for the newest version of ksp, I would retry the SSTO that can carry a saturn V (or rather its equilivant weight & volume) to orbit. The launch was epic enough as it was, I got some bretty gud ideas to get it into orbit, but since the volume of the saturn V is so damn huge, only B9's parts will suffice.

soon but only the parts of it that don't require effort

Would you be so kind to tell me how traffic lights work, please?

the basic lights simply define a block, for example putting lights at an intersection defines 3 blocks, the intersection, and the rail on both sides going all the way to the next block, only one train is allowed on a single block at a time

Putting lights at regular intervals (and with small intervals, like 3 or 4 tiles) for the whole lenght of a track is pretty much the only way to allow more than one train on that track.

You either use zero signals or go all in. If you put even a single signal, you are creating two blocks for a whole line, which will inevitably create traffic problems if you have more than one train or are 100% sure that trains will have perfect timing that won't block them at the red light (which is impossible).

>>122662923
Block signals are as the other anon told you: basic signals that don't allow more than one train inside the block they create.

Entry/exit/combo signals are like basic signals, but they react to each other (I.e.: entry signals show red if all the combo or exit signals immediately after it are red; if at least one of them is green, then the entry signal turns green and the train goes toward the next green signal) . Useful for managing big forks or station entrances, still not the best if you want the Max amount of traffic flow.

Path signals are different because they allow more than one train in a block, but they do so only if those trains can take paths that do not intersect each other. Extremely useful signal, allows the max possible amount of trains to go through forks or intersections.

Basic block signals, when placed only on one side of the track, will not allow a train coming from the opposite direction to go past it (imagine there is a permanently red signal on the other side of the signal you placed).
If you do the same with path signals, trains WILL go past it when they come from the other side (imagine a permanently green signal opposite of the one you placed).
To get the same behaviour of block signals with path signals, you use one-way path signals.

Check the wiki or YouTube, because this is all incredibly easier to understand with pictures.
>>
>>122663278
Just use the standard signals to start with until you get a feel for it.

>station for every train
Please don't do that
>>
>>122664823
You really really don't want two trains to go on the same block at once in any case. You can very easily end up in a gridlock situation. You don't want trains to go unless it's clear.
>>
>>122664289
Go away, ser.
>>
>>122665040
You can't put two trains into one block unless you use path signals. I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at.
>>
>>122665040
There are literally dozens of situations where allowing more than one train in a block has only advantages, but I'm on my phone and I am too lazy to post googled images that I can't edit.

Even your basic 2-platform terminus station, with one track coming and one going, will benefit from a path signal if you want to let incoming trains use both platforms.
The only way you can cause gridlock is if you screw up the train order, meaning you end up having two trains waiting for a resource that can only be produced by the cargo coming from a third train. The third train can't enter the station because both platforms are taken, while the two trains can't finish loading because they require the third train to enter the station. Everyone waits for something that cannot happen, gridlock happens.
You may have noticed this gridlock has nothing to do with signals, yet it is the only way you can have gridlock in front of a 2-platform terminus. The same would happen with block signals.

I will elaborate more on the matter when I go back to my laptop, but trust me, gridlock only happens when YOU make a mistake, not the signal
>>
>>122665987
>YOU make a mistake, not the signal
uh.. duh?
what I'm saying is putting signals all along is a mistake, it's not a panacea and it indicates you don't understand how your traffic flows, because if you did you could do the exact same thing with like 5-6 signals instead of 5-600
>>
>>122666247
With a smaller number of signals your trains will be spaced more widely apart, and visiting their stations less often.
>>
>>122666247
The amount of signals only depends on the amount of trains. You can do with only one signal if you have a long-ass line with two trains in it.

Read this
https://wiki.openttd.org/Railway_Designs

It is all about the signal distance and it basically shows that the amount of trains on a track is limited by the distance between signals. The longer the distance, the bigger the gap between trains, the less trains will travel on that line over time.

Again, if you have a very limited amount trains, you can do without signals entirely, but if you go with lots of trains with maybe even different speed limits too, then close signals is the only way to have them all flowing.

Read the link and you will see what I'm trying to explain to you.
>>
>>122666869
and they should be spaced as widely apart as possible, if you have trains waiting for each other you already fucked up

you can put like 4 trains on one track with perfect flow using a very simple light setup, I forget how to do it but I experimented quite a bit with the system to understand it clearly

>Basically I have been working behind the curtain for the past month to hit the ground running. I’ve been crazy busy getting to know the (truly fantastic) team, the community, and the more ‘technical’ state of things as well as the business and overall planning overview as a whole. There is so much to do that a list would probably take the space of the whole of this week's devnotes to write. I was there for the birth of 1.0.5 to take notes and analyze how the team performed as a whole.

>In a VERY general summary, right now the plan is to consolidate current projects, consoles and the 1.1 update as smoothly as possible. Hopefully as soon as the transition period ends, I’ll have the time and energy to start laying the groundwork for some secret hush-hush thingies for the far- far away future. On the lighter side, I’m trying to get things all good and set up for the Squadcast, which will have me as host and some surprise co-host. I got some fun plans for my tenure as Squadcaster, but their implementation depends on the status of other projects, job timing, some extra planning and organizing beyond my current capacity as a human-poultry hybrid. No worries though, soon I’ll have power over spacetime and I’ll be able to extend all of Squad’s days from 24 to 42 hours per day, and then the true TAKE OVER will begin. I mean, gobble. gobble!!

The problem I have with Simcity is not that it is a bad game right now, it's that it was a bad game when it was launched and I stopped giving it the time of day.

It could be the best fucking game in the universe and I will be none the wiser, since it futzed around with its shitty launch and even shittier PR handling.

Compare that with Skylines, which did more things right than it did wrong the first time around, and you have a game that has gone on to receive widespread recognition while the pioneer of city builders has faded into obscurity.

6 hours of Bahrain, last race of the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

Free practice starts tomorrow at ~3 PM (GMT+3), then again at 8PM IIRC.
FP3 and quali on Friday
Race on Saturday from 3PM to 9PM local time.

Team championship for the top class (LMP1)
has already been mathematically won on the last race by Porsche.
Second class (LMP2) is a fight between G-drive and KCMG, racing with cars made by Ligier and Oreca respectively.
Third class (GTE-PRO) is a fight between AF Corse and Porsche Team Manthey, racing with Ferrari and..well, Porsche respectively.
Fourth and last class (GTE-AM) is a fight between AF Corse and SMP Racing, both racing with Ferraris.

This little recap will save you some research, so you can at least watch the race without wondering what the hell is going on on screen.

I always thought that the bigger an orbit, the bigger the speed of the orbiting object.
If you want to change your orbit to a higher orbit you need to add speed right?

Then how come Neptune's orbital speed is 5.5 km/s and Earth's orbital speed is 30 km/s?

Gravity. The closer to something you are, the bigger its pull. Orbit means falling sideways at the ratio you fall down, meaning that you're constantly falling over the horizon. Close to earth, the pull from earth means you have to fall really fast sideways to not get pulled down. Further out, the pull down is less, so the speed you need to go horizontally is also less.

You do need more energy to get into a high orbit though, because you're fighting gravity to get out there. So if, say, 100 tonnes of fuel can put you at 100km above the earth, you'd still need 150 to get to, say, 300km. But after that point it gets cheaper and cheaper, because the comparative pull is less closer than it is away, so as long as you burn near the planet you can go very far on little fuel. So:
100tonnes, 100km
150 tonnes, 300km
200 tonnes, 1000km or something.

>>
>>122687639

You are always adding speed when you change orbit, it just depends on the direction.

Objects in bigger orbits move slower because the energy to keep the object in orbit (gravity), gets weaker with distance. Up close you need to go fast to stay in orbit, otherwise gravity will pull you in.

cannonball metaphor time

if you fire a cannonball (and don't think too hard about air resistance) at such a speed that for a given distance it will fall the same amount as the ground curves away, you will go into an orbit yeah?

now remember gravity becomes weaker with distance, inverse square law and all that

the higher up, the slower the ball will fall but the curve you have to follow also gets much gentler

so you fall slower, which means you have to go slower, on top of that you also need to fall even slower than that to follow the curve, which means going even slower again

If by "left" you mean "all mainstream parties", then yes.

>>122689806

Every trajectory is an orbital trajectory, except that here on earth the ground prevents you from falling down. Take a plane, for example. If the engines on a plane cut off, it would fall down in an arc. The plane has an initial energy before it falls. If the engines turn on when the plane is in its direction of motion, more energy is added to the initial energy the plane had. The arc gets bigger and the plane hits the ground at a further distance. The the engines turn back on in the direction opposite of the planes motion, energy is subtracted from its initial motion and the width of the arc gets smaller.

Now imagine there is no ground. The plane will fall towards the center source of gravity. Thing is the plane is following an arc, so the point of gravity will not always be below the plane. After some time the plane will fall to the point where gravity is pointing in an opposite direction than when it started, causing the plane to go full circle.

The same rules apply earlier when we fired the engines in the direction of motion, the arc you weas changing before was the entire circle made by this orbit.
>>
>>122689806
Let's say you're in a circular orbit. It means your current speed is just enough to keep your altitude. If you go faster, that means centrifugal force is bigger than the gravity force, which will result in you going high. But when you're at the higher point, your speed will be lower than the required speed to maintainyour current altitude, gravity will pull you back to the starting point.

Do you remember the kinetic energy ad potential energy stuff you learned in middle school? It's literally that.
>>
>>122691302
>But when you're at the higher point, your speed will be lower than the required speed to maintainyour current altitude, gravity will pull you back to the starting point.

That sentence is just what I needed. With that and >>122688224 I think I got it.
>>
>>122689806
Assume you're performing a fast burn. You're only adding speed while you're at a point. Gravity continues to pull you towards the centre of the planet, but because your trajectory now takes you away from the planet more than before its gravity can't pull you back to the same speed at the opposite point in the orbit. You could speed up just so that, at the opposite point in the orbit, gravity is only just able to slow you to zero speed - if you'd sped up any faster you'd be escaping its gravity.

you need to go faster to counteract gravity, the higher up you want to go the more gravity you need to counteract, with the "zero energy" state being at rest on the ground, unable to fall any farther

eventually you will have counteracted gravity completely, that is escape velocity

before that eventually you will reach a point where gravity has taken away all of your upward energy and you go into an orbit, if your lateral motion is also zero you will just fall back down

I'm a babby, and I'm trying to get into my first orbit.
First, why when I launch the spacecraft, for some reason it's forced to the direction of the land (not sure if east or west yet, but probably west)? If I try to gravity turn into the opposite direction, it just results in a spacecraft standing straight, but it's only happy to gravity turn in an opposite direction.
Second, if I want to get into an orbit, is it true that I can spare a lot of fuel if I time the burst precisely at apoapsis? Also, do I need to begin some time before I hit the apoapsis, or is bursting exactly at that point fine? Or does it depend on how big my delta-v requirement is?
Also, is there no atmospheric drag once I'm past the 70 km mark?
>>

>adding all those fractional cups to complicate the image

>thinking I'm an amerifag

>>122695828
It is forced into that direction because the planet rotates in that direction while you fly above.

Yes, a burn on apoapsis is the most efficient. You want to design your burn so that it's half before the apoapsis and half behind. So if you have to burn a minute, you start burning 30sec before apoapsis.

>Also, is there no atmospheric drag once I'm past the 70 km mark?
Yes.

>>
>>122696153
You mean, the planet rotates eastward, and I'm pushed westward by the air? That's probably because my spacecraft is too massive. Damn solid boosters, two of them together weigh twice as much as everything else.
So, if I theoretically want to go eastward for some reason, what do I do? Besides "lose weight".
>>
>>122696120
>a life where those implements are commonly used household items
Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. I have three different sizes of "tea spoon" in my cupboard, and four different sizes of cup (or seven if you include plastic mugs as cups).
Whereas a decilitre cup will always be one decilitre. If I were to just use my table spoons as a "table spoon" unit, I get an enormous variation in how much sugar I get. Unless you standardise cutlery, you can't use them to measure stuff with any form of consistency.
And even then those units aren't defined. In home economics in school we were taught to always top the spoon off, while my mother, grandmother and recipe book insisted that you needed a roughly 20 degree "hill" for a proper tea spoon.
>>
>>122696548
You are pushed east because the planet rotates west to east. It gives you momentum, making launching towards east cost less fuel.

If you want to launch eastwards you just need more fuel and it's more inefficient.
>>
>>122696548
gain more control authority, gimballing engines, reaction wheels, rcs if you must

I can't imagine a rocket where the boosters are the heaviest thing having any trouble with this stuff except if you lack control
>>
>>122696978
>If you want to launch westwards you just need more fuel and it's more inefficient.
Fixed. Sorry for that typo.
>>
>>122696548
Add a couple winglets towards the bottom of your boosters
>>
>>122695712
There is literally nothing wrong with using tablespoons and teaspoons as a measurement device.

Fuck "cups" though, and fuck every recipe on the internet that uses them.
>>
>>122688212
>knowing nothing about the historic development of settlements
>>
>>122696120
Not all household items are the same or need to follow some standard shape. You are still forced to have that exact tablespoon, that exact cup, that exact quart sized container, etc, which is stupid.
With metric you can have a couple of containers that will allow to measure pretty much every quantity you will ever need to measure around your house.

>inb4 you can use imperial multi-scale containers too
But then it just becomes a matter of reaching the right mark on a graduated container, which defeats the purpose of having a thousand different units.
Just go metric already

>>122696484
Pretty much every recipe I have has ml or cl for volume.
The only times I see something like tablespoons and cups is when precision is not required and you can go with just a rough estimate of a quantity. I live in a place where imperial was never used, so when I see "tablespoon" in a recipe, it literally means "just get an average sized spoon, fill it with something until it looks like it fits your idea of full, then pour it"
>>
>>122697917
If you're buying a special cup/spoon for measuring, you're not exactly using your cutlery/drinking cups, now are you, friend?
And if you're buying a special cup for measuring stuff, why not just go along with the rest of the world and get a metric one, which has the added benefit of one single cup being useful to measure half a dozen units at once, thanks to the convenient metric system of prefixes and little lines on the inside for accurately determining partly filled cups.
>>
>>122697917
>needing a thousand different tools to measure something

Even if you make standard spoons and cups, you still have like 20 spoons and cups around your kitchen that are only good for measuring and occupying space inside drawers.

Metric has one container for small quantities and one for big quantities (which are all just multiples of one single unit), end of the story.

There is no place in this universe where imperial makes your life easier.

Ah, got it.
I only turn on the main liquid fuel engines in the second stage, so I do have relatively low control until they're turned on.
Though I am launched to the west, not east. Here's a map. I haven't hit an apoapsis yet.
>>
>>122698402
You should have stopped at "sets" and realized that in 2015 you still need different sets of tools for different unrelated units to measure a single goddamn quantity.
>>
>>122698635
That's a high apoapsis.

Would really recommend going east when launching. Saves you tons of fuel.
>>
>>122698589
So we're agreed. Build a handful of transport terminals along the coast and have everyone live on solid ground instead of a swamp.
>>
>>122698903
That's the point, I had barely any control of the rocket at launch because my liquid fuel engines haven't kicked in yet, and yet the rocket shifted westwards on its own. I have no idea why that happened. It's perfectly symmetrical too, even if it looks a bit weird, so I don't know why when I force it eastwards the best it can do is stand absolutely straight.
I'll finish getting into an orbit now, and then show the rocket itself. Maybe you will be able to explain what happens.
Also, once I kicked out a couple of fuel tanks that weren't doing anything, it did turn out surprisingly high. Before that I barely got to the orbit.
>>
>>122698619
And they can all be replaced with pic related, without losing a lick of convenience and wasting less space than having a bunch of spoons and cups around.

I get it, you are used to imperial and you will always find it more convenient to use those units, but don't try to convince me that your life is easier when you have to deal with six units of volume plus multiples, four or five units of lenght plus multiples and a couple of units for mass. Just...don't.

Here it is.
These boosters were the only ones powerful enough to launch all the other stuff into orbit on their own. Also, they actually have a good amount of fuel instead of miniscule amounts other boosters had. I wonder if I used more weaker boosters and launched them at the same time as the liquid engine they would work better, though.

Some AV-R8 should suffice.

The atmosphere is forcing the top of your rocket down, that's why you lost control, also solid boosters don't have gimbals so they are harder to control as well.

booster is mainly useful for getting a heavy rocket off the ground, and making liquid fuel use more efficient, if you thrust low near the ground assisted by boosters you'll have more fuel higher up where it will be used more efficiently due to atmospheric pressure slowing the exhaust down

To make light the speed limit, it is just a simple fact of changing your mass to be m_0/sqrt(1-v^2/c^2). Your thrust will automatically have less of an effect as your mass increases. Hell, you can do it with a mod, I'm sure.
>>
>>122743084
are you physics anon?
>>
>>122743196

nyes
>>
>>122743084
But doesn't it continue to have the same thrust, but slow down time relative to the ship
Or something like that
>>
Odds sleep
Evens-0 KSP
0 blow head off with a shotgun
>>
>>122743349

Well, according to your point of view on the ship, time is ticking normally, meaning the thrust of your ship will appear the same. The difference being for you is that the distances between objects will be a lot shorter so you get to everywhere a lot quicker. Einstein didn't like calling this time dialation and mass increase, but rather a transformation on the lorentz vector. The weird mass and time shit comes from space looking different from your point of view.

What I suggested was just a quick hack for ksp. I suppose to be true to reality, you will also need to change the game time to tick slower (easy I think? I dunno I never made a mod), and make everything look more closer together. I guess to accomplish this, you can scale orbits and the size of planets down instead of changing your ship's mass. Problem with this is the scale at which the planets will be shrunk depends on your velocity vector. For example, if you are travelling close to the speed of light in the x direction a planet should only look squashed in the x direction.

Like I said before I think just increasing your ship's mass will be a much easier solution to obey the speed limit.

>>122743904
Poor soul. You should really sleep, Anon.

Random question, but anyone who is a mathematician or well versed in math should be able to answer.

Is it possible to solve any algebraic equation (that is finding all the roots) using vectors on the complex plane? I know that I can solve the case of x^n = 1 easily using the complex planes, but can this be extrapolated to a general case? I would assume so by using certain algebraic rules?

Germans are getting keked again!
This time they actually want to copyright links.
So if google wants to link on, for example, news websites they have to pay them money to use that link. Would be pretty deadly for bloggers linking to other websites.

My fucking god, what year is it? I fucking hope this fails.

I am going to be working on a own graphics mod for ksp, I will follow what Scatterer anon-chan did and compose satellite images over Kerbin while also using the RVE scaled space graphics. But I will also improve Duna textures because they a shit.

>>
>>122763742
Will do when I get some progress going. Here is what I am planning to do:
*Give Eve atmospheric textures (obviously not static but imitating actual atmospheric motion)
*Kerbin will have everything from RVE along with some changed textures, changed scaled space texture including RVE overlay. Also using Astronomer's clouds.
*Jool is uncertain if I should just use green Jupiter textures or make a new gas giant texture.
*Laythe with clouds and maybe use Earth desert satellite imagery to scaled space texture.
*OPM support, already have atmospheric textures for Urlum and Neidon, planning to add for Sarnus and give Tekto an atmosphere similar to Venus.

Maybe we should as a community here at /kspg/ make a new Kerbin, with actual mountain ranges, climate zones, ice caps, better ground scattering and 6.4x scale?

Why would you need an interesting Kerbin? Then you don't need to travel to other planets if you make the home planet interesting.

what kerbin needs is cities that get damaged if you crash something into them
