Which I almost did because I know fuck and all about sports and particularly hate baseball, and catcher sounds like the position where you'd do the least work, but "I play soccer" was an option and seemed cheekier. Which are better?

Percentage damage bonuses or flat damage bonuses?

Let's say I have a weapon that deals 10 damage, would it be better to get +50% damage or +5 energy/radiation/etc damage? They're both effectively 15 however I'm not sure how resistances would interact with this.

What all should you do before going to Diamond City? I have beaten the intro quests for the minutemen and the brotherhood.

I mean the NCR was able to essentially rout the Western Brotherhood despite their T-51bs and all the rest, so they could probably take the Eastern factions too if it came down to it. Even more so if the NCR ending to New Vegas became canon.

In some ways I could see the Minutemen as a kind of proto-NCR for the East. Or rather, as a replacement for that Commonwealth Provisional Government thing Nick mentions.

Gun Nut isn't as necessary as people make it out to be - as long as you're looking gear around your level you can find most of the mods you're looking for on loot, even if it takes a while.

Making lockpicking and hacking have a perk point helps from running into the Skyrim problem where the entire Lockpicking tree was fucking useless because people just amassed lockpicks and attritioned their way through hard locks.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if the devs implemented the designs for U.S. prototype weapons that never even saw the light of day? Like, say, a rifle with a Thompson based action chambered in an intermediate round?

I think the problem is that the armour itself is based on the riot suits used by the Los Angeles police before the war. Sure you could probably do something similarly for other locations, but it's a pretty region-specific outfit.

Though, if I were Bethesda I'd have put a set of it in Kellogg's apartment in DC or in Fort Hagen after you kill him.

Either courier or army dad. Courier canonically survives a headshot at point-blank, a feat I believe only shared canonically by Joshua Graham, and furthermore owns Big MT (a scientific facility on-par with the Institute in terms of technology, possibly the best in the world) and walked the Divide along with Ulysses. Army Dad is some kind of wizard that summons power armour from the nether pits, which is a pretty strong ability.

Alright /fog/, I finally got a crack at trying all of FO4's endings for each faction. What came to my attention was the prominent topic of discussion, the quest The Nuclear Option.

ending spoilers:

The Nuclear Option is the quest that starts whenever you decide to give the network scan holotape that you used in the institute to one of the 3 factions topside OR go with the institute's quests and get to the last one.

The quest involves finding the Mass Fusion plant that the institute uses and plant a pulse charge to detonate it for the faction you chose (this is the quest that will determine which ending you get) OR to detonate a nuke on the surface for the Institute so they can start on renewing the surface with less difficulty. This is where the shoot son nuke commonwealth thing spawns from, you can threaten or kill Father for the password to the console regarding the plants controls. Also if you go and fuck up the institute, when you're leaving you get your own Shaun (TM) kid. Nuking bostom has Father dying and passing onto you his position and the kid for you to raise.

All the surface factions end up destroying the Institute at some point, plus their topside enemy. So BoS rekts Railroad and vice-versa, the Minutemen are neutral in the whole affair.

To be fair, regardless of the 'merits' of the Institute at any point in the past, it's pretty obvious they'd fucked themselves over morally the minute they sent an assassin to destroy the Commonwealth's attempt at establishing a secure state. Then they don't know what it's like on the surface anymore, and however good their technology it doesn't seem to be helping anyone or anything. At least House had some pretense of providing a level of peace and prosperity, but the Institute is just a hollow shell with some fancy lasers.

I honestly struggle to use V.A.T.S. Nothing takes me out of a fight more than using it.
If I don't use melee or energy weapons, there is basically only one build that makes any sense to do because novats.
This upsets me.
How is the Melee combat this time around? From the little I tried of it, it was basically Skyrim but with limb damage. So, still shit but kinda neat against some things.

A melee character is all I can hope to enjoy now.

When I type fov 90 into the console it jumps to it for a second and then reverts to the default. I have to edit Fallout4.ini and both Fallout4Prefs.ini to change it. Then set them to read only so the game doesn't overwrite.

Seems to me everyone is having the settings behave a little differently. Nothing I do in the ini turns off god rays either, I have to do gr off every time I start playing.

Yeah. With 6 industrial purifiers (not the small piddly ones), and enough generators to power them, I went and did missions with Piper for an hour or so, came home, and workshop had THREE HUNDRED purified waters in it.

So basically I went to the Diamond City market after that and bought loads of guns and armor parts with just water. And I got all their caps, too.

Im havign a problem.

I am nearing the end of the game and dont know who to side with. Brotherhood of Steel or The Institute.

[Spoiler] The Brotherhood of steel might be extreme but they seem like they just want to help, granted by hoarding all tech to save humanity from themselves. But overall they seem like they are the ones that want to help the common man, and exterminate anythign not human.

The Institute however seems like they have the means to maybe do the most good, but they arnt, they are just sending these synths to the surface for, I guess control or something. [/spoiler]

The BoS uniforms that are the PA undersuit type thing work, as do the military fatigues for style points. Minutemen outfit too.
Also, the Super Mutant Chains (chest piece) is bugged and is able to be quipped by the player in addition to the rest of their outfit, free +10 DR.
