Reposting in new thread. I think I somehow skipped Preston's max approval dialogue in which he gives me his perk by walking away when he tried to talk to me. Is he going to initiate that dialogue again in the future or do I have to reload a much earlier save?

PSA: You can circumvent the build limit without using Cheat Engine by removing junk from your workshop, placing it on the ground and manually scrapping each one. For some reason the game thinks you're scrapping buildings and it lowers your build limit.

I FOUND A FIX FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO SELECT WEAPONS IN THE CONSOLE

If you want to add mods, especially Legendary mods,

1) Drop the weapon or armor
2) Grab the item by holding E
3) Type in the console "GetPlayerGrabbedRef"
it will return a ref ID
4) Find the ID of the mod you want to add
5 Type in the console "<itemID>.attachmod <modID>"

ex.: I picked up my Pipe Rifle and used GetPlayerGrabbedRef and got ff000f47
the mod ID for "Explosive" is 001e73bd
so i typed in the console
ff000f47.attachmod 001e73bd
and suddenly i was holding an explosive pipe rifle!

I know i seem to be the only one having a problem with this because ive been bitching for a day or two and no one was helping.

STR END and AGI.

The END perks are mostly shit but you need to be able to do a lot of sprinting and take a few hits.

AGI has a couple of really powerful melee-based perks in the form of Ninja, Moving Target and Blitz.

Moving Target and Blitz in particular have nice synergy with the STR perk Pain Train assuming you're going to use power armor at some point.

Just do a couple missions with the BoS and then continue on the main quest for a bit. I haven't even left My power armour in like 8 hours and I still have 15 cores. You find them all the time. Also explore a lot.

REALISM MOD WHEN

-you should have to press a button to breeth in and breath out if you donot you slowly suffocate

x4 will be fine, heck x8 is doable at a stretch. It's just that the default setting for tessellation is so stupidly high (something like x64) it seems to only be there to tank AMD performance since we all know NVIDIA cards handle it much better.

My strength and Int are both at 10, and I don't want to misplace my points in stuff I will never use further down the line.

From what I can tell, it requires crafting in Science, Armorsmith and BLacksmith to get upgrades.

Bethesda games have been on consoles since Morrowind, about 13 years ago. It's nothing to do with that. It's like when people blamed Skyrim's shit inventory on consoles yet go back and play older, classic cRPGs and they have far worse inventory systems. Hell, Fallout 1 and 2 have worse inventory systems. Everything having to be voice acted is something that started on PC, as well.

Are there console commands to maximise a companion relationship? I've ran with Preston for two days completing quests and saying YEAH SURE I'LL HELP FOR NO COMPENSATION to every fucking peasant, I've done about a dozen of his raider extermination quests and brought him along as I liberated four places and turned them into bases. That cunt still doesn't feel like I'm good enough for his companion perk, I am so sick of him I just want to use dogmeat.

It's not the physics engine that fucks up - it's literally the game speeding up as you hit certain frame-rate milestones.

Skyrim and Oblivion both had interfaces that were optimized for gamepads, not M+KB. The dialogue system in FO4 sure looks like it was designed with consoles in mind as well.

My memory of vanilla Skyrim's UI is kind of fuzzy though because I use SkyUI on account of not being retarded.

What are the best damage perks to get? I feel like commando is the best since it applies to all automatic weapons including I assume auto pistols. But single shot rifles seem op as fuck. Are full auto weapons useful at all?

So I went to that town where the dude built a bomb shelter for him and his wife and kids, and it turns out his wife was the same lady from a hospital I raided earlier. Anyways, I was following the lore trail when it told me to go to that med tec research place. So I clear it out, and then get to a terminal asking for the password from the dude whose story I had been following. So I just console unlock the door to get what I assume would just be a magazine, and it starts me on a quest for Maccready. I get that stupid serum and go talk to him for the first time, and now he's broken. He tells me to talk to Daisy, who doesn't want to talk to me about MacCready's kid.

Anyone know how I can fix it via console?

It's no more friendly for consoles than it is for PCs, though. Look at something like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest and it's totally menu-driven. In earlier Dragon Quest games you had to open a menu, go to an option, then press another button JUST to talk to someone or check a chest. It seems to be that in general, console or PC, people expect voice acting. If you do voice acting, it seems really redundant to write out a whole line that you choose, only to then hear the character say the sentence you just read before clicking on it.

It'd be like you read "Well, I'm not sure about you but I never did trust the Brotherhood", click that, hear them say Well, I'm not sure about you but I never did trust the Brotherhood" again. So you suggest the sentiment, you say "Don't like Brotherhood" so you don't get literally thousands of instances of repetition. I don't think the problem is that concept in and of itself, it's the appalling way Bethesda have truncated the sentences. I remember really old PC games where your responses were indicated by the expression on the character's face, you'd pick an angry face, a smiley face, a sad face, etc. It's not a modern thing, it's just bad how Bethesda have implemented it.

I would say, though, that simply not knowing how the character will react isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just because you say a jokey thing to someone, which you personally interpret as friendly, that the other guy will take it as a friendly thing. You could keep saying complimentary things and come across as a sycophant. In many cases, I've seen people get annoyed at that thing, they want to pick a "be nice option" and then have everyone love them. That's pretty stupid. It is a problem when you don't know how your own character is going to voice your choice, though.
