Their lack of physical mitigation becomes very apparent in thordan especially in the heal crunches later into the fight. I can stop to aoe heal with a PLD or WAR MT and ill know they'll be ok to eat the cleave that follows but a DRK requires a spot heal before the cleave so the party will have to wait for an aoe heal.

Not to mention the only tank buster the OT takes is magical, so I dont see why every DRK doesnt just OT thordan.

Got 6 in the end, none of them have decent stats but I guess it's still better than my i190/200 stuff for tanking purpose (when VIT is needed).

They should have made it so that you can trade say, 10 i150 pieces for one good piece from the NPC.

You can just trade in the stuff and get those brass spoils. The Pegasus mount is pretty cool, and you can stock up on tier V materia for 3.2, where you'll be able to use them in raid gear.

Can't really say I've had an issue with that. So long as you're a little bit conscious about where you use Reprisal, the only differences in physical mitigation are the extra 20% guaranteed block on Heavenly Heel, and/or the extra reduction on Sentinel versus Shadow Wall.

I mean don't get me wrong, PLD is pretty definitively better at mitigating Thordan's big hits, but not to the point where I find that DRK needs special coddling from the healers.

It should have been good. It COULD have been good. But the gathering content is so completely terrible in every single way that the only thing to do is to bash on star monsters forever.

Seriously I don't think anyone realizes how bad diadem gathering is.

Even assuming you get a party that LETS you gather, there are exactly four things to gather. Cloud cotton bolls for botanist, Staffs and Pterodactyls for fisher, and that one ore I can't spell for miner. Staffs go to food, EVERYTHING ELSE goes to sky pirate gear and nothing BUT sky pirate gear.

Which wouldn't be too bad, except sky pirate gear also requires DINOSAUR LEATHER which you need steel spoils to get. The steel spoils drop rate is so absymal that by the time you can get ONE dinosaur leather, you've already gotten an entire stack of whatever you're gathering in the meantime.

This means that steel spoils are the only thing to gather that is not LITERAL TRASH. You can't sell it on the market boards, shit's already down to 1 gil on some servers. 90% of the crap you gather you will be THROWING AWAY because it's not worth the inventory space.

So you go to all this effort to craft sky pirate gear, and it's NOT EVEN AS GOOD AS ALEX NORMAL GEAR WHICH IS UNCAPPED NOW.

If you want ACTUAL help:

Always use bloodbath and berserk together. They have the same timer, so there is no situation where one will be up without the other. This WILL keep your ass alive, the healer can just sit down for 15 seconds.

Also, go full str. All str, all the time, all tanks. Vit does nothing for you AT ANY LEVEL.

About 130ms on Balmung. Feels normal because I've never played on the new EU servers to begin with. Balmung is a mix of EU and US players, so it's not as bad as say Cactuar where most people come online when it's late evening in the EU. I don't mean to get ahead of myself, but leveling all 13 jobs to 60 would take a lot of time. I estimate that it'd take at least 15 days of roulettes just to get one job to 60. I might manage 3 jobs to 60 each patch, but that doesn't leave much room for anything else.

I went from 57-60 DRG since 3.1 hit. 950k+ XP for all my Vault runs, 1.3m for Gubal. Dunno what shit data center you're on, but no matter what dungeon I get on Chaos it's usually 30 minutes max. Fuck leveling, 50 and story roulettes, dungeon grinding is faster.
