How am I supposed to get materials to improve settlements?
I have about 8 settlements now, caravans going between them so I can share resources, I've scrapped everything I could get my hands on, and yet with all the pooled resources of these settlements I have a hard time building anything at all.
It's taken me much longer than seems necessary to get a radio beacon and a generator set up at three of these settlements to attract more people.
It's becoming quite a pain in the ass because I'm having to severely delay a lot of quests because I just don't have the resources to build what they need.

I feel like the pace of the game requires that I have ten times the resources I actually get. It's just not possible to manage all of these settlements when I can't get the resources I need to build one generator or a few beds.

God knows I used enough steel plugging the fucking walls at the castle.

I don't have a single settlement and I have more than enough resources to mod my weapons/(power)armour freely.

Settlements give you shit for resources, the best thing to do is to literally just loot EVERYTHING. If you can put it in your inventory, take it. Yes, even that baseball. You'll be over encumbered, just find a corpse near a fast travel point, store all the shit there except for what you can carry, fast travel to your workshop, store it, fast travel back, grab more shit, repeat until you have it all. Power armour and buffout helps reduce the trips you need to make.

Corvega factory has a lot of steel, all the coolant caps and other car parts on the assembly lines give steel I believe

My only complaint in the game so far is melee/unarmed feel so garbage against any enemy that isn't human.

Mirelurks? You can block/parry and attack while they're vulnerable but they're VERY quick to hide under that damn shell.

Super Mutants? They can outmelee you easily, even with perfect countering.

Will I eventually advance and get a "real" mission if I keep doing the knights and scribes quests in BoS? I can't tell if I need to do more or if it's one of those "unlimited quests" things. Last mission from Danse that I completed was the tracking one where I ended up finding a BoS knight in a bunker. Did another scribe and knight quest after that and after turning them in I still don't get any new dialogue from Danse.

Game seems to randomly crash often for me, about 22 hours in, and I've had the game randomly crash 4 or 5 times.

Is there a particular reason why, or a bugfix mod out yet? Also sometimes textures dont load, then all of a sudden pop-up. There a fix for that?

Oh and just what exactly does this station do? I assigned one of the Longs to it, doesnt really seem to do anything. It would be nice if it could auto-scrap all of your junk.

How the fuck did you guys kill the mirelurker queen. I'm constantly getting rekt by the poison.

I charge my crit from 1 shotting small lurkers and then crit the queen with rocket launcher. It takes about 10-15% of her hp but I can never do this enough times before I die to poison. Nuka grenade is decent too but only have one of those.

Okay, I know the problem.

See, for some reason, you need to place a roof on one level, then place floors on top of it.

It also helps keep rain out. If you just put roofs up, the roof is porous and rain still plops down, but if you put floors on top of it, it stops rain.

It's kind of dumb and makes stairwells look retarded, but there it is. Wish there was a quarter-roof like the quarter-floor.

Hello.

Just installed this and I'm liking this game a bit so far but I have a problem.

Since I'm left handed I want to use the mouse keys, this should not really be a problem since usually you can change all the keys.

It seems that I can change everything except the A and D keys though which forces me to basically still move my hand back and forth in a really uncomfortable fashion.

Is there some way of getting around this?
I think the controls in general are a bit meh to be honest.

I got a 10 Charisma run going, it's fine. Not sure how the fuck the chance to pacify is calculated, though - one fight I manage to get a whole group to surrender, the next only one or two enemies fall for it, and without any apparent level difference.
