Are Projects ever worth actually trying to finish? It seems like there's never enough settlers around to get em going without camping way past the point where the path quest for it is complete.

Some of them offer unique rewards. Most of them are just buffs or vendors that aren't worth shit.

Off the top of my head the only ones I ever finish completing are the ones in the 7-14 zone at the last hub because it spawns a bunch of vendors and tradeskill materials, and the one where you collect relic parts in auroria around the eldan ruins, because you can trade them for the equivalent of a Heavy Leather Ball from WoW (but even then, you have to farm mobs in the zone to get things to turn in for it).

From what you explained, you made a Chua Engineer. Yep, they gun. That's how it do.

Your path, Explorer, makes it to where there's more platforming and searching challenges around the world. You'll still fight stuff, of course, but out of the 20% portions you're given from all four paths, that extra 20% will be Explorer.

The reason for paths is just to cater to what kinda MMO experience you like. If you love platformers, like me, then Explorer is the thing for you. If you're a big fan of killing stuff, which I assume you'd like, then Soldier is the path to go. Then there's Scientist to learn up lore and get some neat stuff, and Settler to build buff stations and the like to generally help the community.

Chances are, you aren't the only one who got that vibe from that race. I'd say the entire game gives a Ratchet and Clank vibe from the graphics, the gameplay, and the humor.

On your server's "HQ", you can browse for circles that interest you, available housing plots, and events.

People use housing plots as public RP areas, usually a bar or tavern. Some have designated hours, some are 24 hours.

You can see events on a countdown on the lower right. If you're shy, you can just show up to any of them and nobody will ask questions

Join the "WSRP" channel and ask questions specific to your faction/server. I think there's at least one general purpose OOC guild/circle for new people looking for contacts.

You might find open world RP but that's pretty much a once in a lifetime thing. You can install the LFRP addon and whisper people you encounter but that takes courage I tell you hwat.

Not the same guy but I'm thinking of giving the game a look after being interested pre-release, now that I remember that it's been out for ages already and is now free - should I? How is the levelling and how is the max-level PvE? Is exploring the lore and feeling like a member of your faction doing stuff to advance your cause cool?

The paths system is a really awesome idea - I heard it said that 80% of your questing will be what it is, and 20% will be path-specific, but your comment makes it sound like 20% of your questing is killing shit, 20% is exploring and jump puzzles and such, 20% is from building mini-games, 20% is from lore-based stuff (puzzles? finding stuff?) and the remaining 20% is another bunch of whatever you want more of? That sounds awesome, though very strange, if so - less killing mobs and more being involved in the game world in other ways is what almost every single game I've played needs.

I personally think Dominion look cooler to me, but maybe my bias is telling me I want to hear English rather than American accents from NPCs. If you can take the cringefest that is WSRP you'll find some stuff there, also /chjoin Darknest if you dont mind ERP, almost all of the people in that channel do regular RP too and will often mention where stuff is happening

This game is fun, but the path system isn't as interesting as you make it sound.

What the person above you was doing is describing how each path works. Settlers do the base building. Explorers do the exploring. Scientists do the lore searching. Soldiers do extra fighting.

20% is a good estimate for path quests. However, your path level is separate from your experience level - Doing one doesn't give you more towards the other, they're more like bonus missions. Some are pretty cool, but none will change your gameplay too drstically. The missions are mostly different enough, though.

Each path also has abilities that you can use (in overworld only, not dungeons/pvp maps) that compliment their design, like a jetpack jump/teleport beacon for Explorer, group summon/portal to capital city for Scientist, full heal/teleport to graveyard for Soldier, or temporary crafting/mailbox/buff station for Settler.

Yes, but not enough that it matters; queues for instanced content include players from both PvE and PvP servers.
...Unless you're on a PvP server, in which case, say goodbye to outdoor content because Exiles dominate any relevant level cap content (dailies, contract areas, world bosses, etc) due to their sheer numbers. Occasionally they try avoiding killing each other until the objective is over, but all it takes is a single Exile going "we outnumber them, let's kill them". Otherwise, Dominion gets a crack at objectives a couple of times a day, but if you're not a NEET, chances are you're going to miss those chances.

Actually some of us view it as a nerf. The CD is A LOT longer than the old one and it's hard to time it correctly because visual swings and actual hits rarely line up perfectly. T8 is neat but requires us to drop T4 nano virus and T4 prep which might not be worth it.

I personally haven't been called shit, especially at this game. When I enter a dungeon, I don't want to have to watch a video to learn what happens in a fight. The people who first completed that content didn't have to - it didn't even exist. I learn by doing, not by watching. From what I've seen in-game and on the general, this type of player is immediately deemed to be shit.

As for the whole "you're ruining someone's gameplay by not watching a video", they're ruining my gameplay by either forcing me to watch it, or kicking me. I don't really understand what happened to cause other people to want to watch someone else play a game in order to learn, instead of actually playing the game and learning that way.

Classes indeed feel different, each one has a different resource system. Balance isn't too awful right now, Stalker are both the worst tanks and DPS at the moment though. I haven't messed with crafting but gathering works like pretty much any other MMO. Only difference between factions are races, capital cities and questlines.

Oh, paths? They don't make THAT much difference in the end. Soldiers have a groupwide fight reset and an instant heal outside of combat. Scientist can summon their group and make portals to the capital city. Settlers can summon vendorbots and mailbots. Explorers can triple jump or some shit.

Scientist is kinda boring but nice if you like the lore and probably has the most useful path abilities (summon party and capital portal). Settler can build stuff in leveling zones and put down campfires that give a hp boost and vendors in dungeons. Soldier can remove everybody from combat and something else i can't remember. Explorers have no group utility but they're fun.
