I'd like it if you could have that. My main concern is that these passive boosts mirror HotW back in MoP when it also gave a main spec stat boost. HotW (before the removal of the stat gain) was already quite the increase without a semi-permanent boost to an off-spec, so I worry about Affinity with it giving a constant utility boost before even stepping out of your main form's gameplay.

I'm gonna tell you right now, Blizz is gonna "balance" DH's high mobility with poor defensive cooldowns and it's gonna backfire terribly.

Minimal mitigation for Tanks and almost nothing for cooldown for the DPS spec, instead they are gonna expect everyone to flip flop in and out.

What's gonna actually happen is that 90% of DH's just eat shit every time a big aoe goes out and it will turn DH into the next noob class that never get's picked for raids or pugs.

So, how's the druid thing? Monk still the most shafted class?

While we get swept up in the hype train for legion let us not forget why WoD bombed.

Reps, achievements, mount diversity and max level world content are the things that will make or break our enjoyment of this game. Raiding, PvP systems and class design are essential in making raiding and PvP more compelling but it is these seemingly insignificant things that make the WoW experience so fulfilling so that you're not just logging in for raid alone or when you want to cap conq like in these dying days of WoD.

Sustained dungeon relevance, legendary drops and world quests go partway but we need to get some really good completionist shit. Imagine if we had an epic cross world quest chain that took ages to obtain the mystic runesaber or some secret questline with those large magnaron in Gorgrond that scared the shit out of you while questing that offered awesome cosmetic rock armor shit, would have made the game immensely more enjoyable and relevant instead we get to grind every rep and get a different coloured boar or wolf.

Guardians are beefy motherfuckers and will be able to talent into randomly firing Moonfires as they use abilities and as their bleeds tick.

Feral and Resto are mostly the same.

Balance got completely reworked and is a bit samey with some other specs, but Starfall got an interesting change. I don't particularly like it but it may work out.

The game world definitely needs to feel alive. Their preliminary show seems to point at (Challenge Mode) dungeons and the world itself being active, though I'm worried about how grindy and random in payoff it will be for most.

Reputations and mount diversity remain to be seen. After how much of a rush job those were in WoD, I foresee them pumping a lot of life into that through all the world quests; it fits into the design ideas and offers healthy layers of redundancy, if done right.

I remain skeptical as to whether the appeal of the world content will be wide enough for the majority of players but will, as always, hope for the best.

tbqh family, the more I read these previews, the more I realize they are centralizing and essentially homogenizing the classes further despite all their talk about MUH FANTASY. Like, stuff like losing chi, gaining rage bars, etc.

To this end, we’ve redesigned several parts of the Druid combat ability toolkit to instead focus on those core defensive ideas—health, armor, mitigation, and regeneration—while deemphasizing dodge.

How to fix WoW

-remove CRZ
-remove dungeon/raid/bg finder
-reduce ability pruning (as in only remove abilities that have direct upgrades)
-reuse old areas
-revamp PvP

Right now, everyone stays in their garrison, only leaving if they have to go run a raid or to go to tanaan jungle.

CRZ was added to the game so "old zones would seem more active", but this was just so blizzard could save money on servers. Blizzard also pushes new servers often so they can lighten the load on their older and fuller servers, when instead they should fragment the servers in such a way that there are only a few WoW realms, but the in-game worlds are on several servers, IE bgs on one server, dungeons on another, raids on another, main cities on one, and emptier leveling zones on another still.

Ability pruning has led the game into a state where the rotation for a class seems to be only 4 abilities, usually some resource building skill (a filler), some skill that spends that resource, and then 2 cooldowns. Each class also has one or two major cool downs that are on either 1, 2, 3, or 5 minute timers. There isn't much complication to a class besides muscle memory and lining up CDs with trinket procs at most (at least for PvE).

Much of the world seems dead because it is. Each expansion introduces a new continent which ends up just being a self contained unit for the expansion. In BC you went to Outlands, in Wrath you went to Northrend, in Cata (the only exception) you went to various zones spread out everywhere, in MoP you went to Pandaria, and in WoD you went to Draenor. Besides leveling, there usually isn't any reason to visit old locations. Cata inb4 >Cata doing anything right had the right idea with spreading out new content in old zones. An expansion should introduce new content and areas, but should also introduce new content in old areas. It would make sense for trouble to crop up in older areas unless we're so frighteningly strong that we absolutely crush the hopes and dreams of our enemies in old zones.

PvP needs to be reworked as well. The only time there is world PvP is if higher level or geared players want to bully lower leveled or under geared players a la goldshire raids or killing carebears outside of HFC. BG PvP should be redone so that there is incentive to do all the BGs, rather than just the ones your faction are likely to win (I'm looking at you alliance and your 40 mans). I think arenas are in an alright place, and can be just be fixed up with class balancing that occurs over time, though I would like to see all abilities usable in arenas, rather than banning them completely.

There are murmurs going around about Blizzard updating a lot of combat animations (some of them to go in line with specific weapons for each spec). I doubt they'll neglect animal forms completely with that.

You should still give it a try, I'd say. Levelling is a quick process these days, even if you read every single quest—there's a really minimal opportunity cost to it.

I've mained Druid for 9 years, though, so I might be biased.

I have a level 100 draenei warrior I don't play. I'm not attached to her but I enjoy the class. I'm extremely attached to my paladin but just don't enjoy the class lately. I have almost 80 exalted reps, dozens of transmog sets, he's the character I have raided on for 4 expansions, etc. I really want to get away from him and I think this will be a good way to try.

I suppose a better question would be, are female undead a good match for warrior? Too many times I have rolled up a character just to regret the race/gender choice later. I've spent almost $100 on race/gender changes in the past, purely for aesthetics.

I think the main obstacle to your suggestions—particularly the world content ones—is Blizzard's stubbornness with maintaining the current number of realms while simultaneously not being very helpful to people stuck in dead or dying ones. I would prefer server-only dungeon/raid/BG finder over no finder unless they'd find a good way to integrate the latter into the world, or unless the Group Finder interface would become really usable.

Cross-realm zones could still be nice to keep around, perhaps as a personal choice. If they'd go with your plan of revitalising the world like Cataclysm's zones (or even better than that), CRZ would give underused zones a bit more population until their turn in becoming current would come.

Ability pruning is a really big issue to tackle, really. Homogenisation is really helpful insofar as it allows for more accurate balancing of classes and offers non-cutting-edge raid groups more viable roster options. I see less use for it in PvP and would personally not mind reviving the old rock-paper-scissors if not for the existence of arena (which I personally never liked). Arena makes match-ups really important.

Incentivising people to play a variety of battlegrounds would be a plus in my book, though something like a conventional "Win a match in every battleground" would probably cause as many problems as the current honour bonus events cause. This would require a lot of thought to work properly.

Guardian, or Feral bear, as it used to be, has always had a very consolidated but incomplete design. Being a mini-Warrior with stripped utility (from missing buttons or not being able to afford dropping their tanking form often) has had their rotation usually be simple or at least minimal on buttons required. I haven't had serious experience with it in MoP or WoD aside from wankery in Proving Grounds, but that still seems to hold up. You should do well with it as long as you don't end up detesting being stuck in "tank stance" 99% of the time.

Feral has been a spec with a steep difficulty curve and a high risk/reward playstyle for a long time. I've only ever played it a lot in PvP, but there's a lot of timer maintenance and some split-seconds choices to make with it in PvE. With that said, Feral has gotten a lot of that burden relieved over time in the form of pruning and talent/glyph choices, so it should currently be less of a mountain and more of a series of bumps on the road to learn and master.

If blizzard managed to combine multiple realms into smaller ones rather than opening more realms, then CRZ wouldn't be necessary and server-only dungeon/raid/bg finders could become a thing. And rather than having dungeon/raid/bg finders where it automatically forms groups and teleports you to the instance, they could continue with the premade group finder they have where you say what roles you can play, what ilvl, what things you want to do etc. This forces at least some level of interaction rather than doing dungeons where you don't even have to say a word.

And what I mean with incentivising BGs is that there are BGs for each faction that are worse than others for your faction. On KJ, alliance more often win 40 man bgs like AV, where as horde seem to do better in the smaller ones like WSG. Remaking the BGs could help balance out faction advantages so players are more likely to play each BG. And much like dungeons, they could remake BG tokens so each BG has its own gear (though this might be a bad idea).

PvP needs to be completely redone in general anyways. Alliance is considered to be better than horde due to EMFH, players in non-pvp gear have a harder time getting geared (everyone goes through this, but optional quests out in the world that offer lower Ilvl pvp gear could be nice as a way to ease everyone into PvP; in PvE you naturally gear up for PvE; in PvP you generally have to hit level cap, then get PvP gear).

Though many of my points might be moot once Legion comes out, depending on how Legion redoes it.

I personally would also like to see WoW focus on either PvP or PvE and balance the game on that first things first, rather than trying to balance for both.

Fully agreed on your first paragraph. My mention of CRZ was just in the case of those few really remote zones that would possibly have a subpar population even with all those mergers taken into account.

BG-specific tokens would be fun for flavour—would also be a fun callback to those items forgotten on the BG vendors— but you know how that would probably end up these days. BG reworks (or at least minor landscape/objective position tweaks) would be great.

Outdoors PvP gearing would be absolutely fantastic. With that said, as you mention, Legion might scramble all of that up anyway. PvP supposedly giving the same kind of gear as anywhere else in the game (ergo, no PvP gear exists at all) should fix that up along with the "barely any stat gains from gear in instanced PvP" business.

If they'd pick one to focus on, it would almost for sure be PvE. With that said, if they don't do that, I believe balancing PvP first and then tweaking the result for PvE would yield better results than whatever they've been doing all these years. It would be more likely to get class competitiveness right than doing the reverse, given the nature of PvP.

I would be fine if they actually made abilities have differing effects on players, like how CCs will last for shorter times on players. Doing so would allow the balancing of each class for PvP and PvE, though it would be slightly jarring to go from PvE to PvP and find spells hitting for less or acting differently. It's kinda a double edged sword, people are enjoying the difficulty they've been able to add to fights, but the better players crave something to flesh out while managing their role within a fight. A lot of current specs are very locked in because they're simple, flexbility and the ability to push yourself to do harder rotations under more difficult circumstances is where fun comes from for a lot of people because there's always somewhere to go. If you just reach the ceiling on something like arms warrior once you do a fight a couple of times there's not a whole to play with

They should at least remove raid finder and make you have to form raid groups through the raid finder tool they implemented in WoD. It is a million times better and with it LFR shouldn't even exist, it's pointless. Most people just fucking AFK in it anyway.

I'm okay with BG and dungeon finder because at least people don't AFK in dungeon finder or they actually get kicked, and having to queue up at PVP guys was terrible, when they made it so you could queue up for PVP everywhere it was sooooo nice.

This is a valid reason, but its a cycle. The community was already dead, thats why they added CRZ and finder. So you could interact with players, that weren't there on your own servers.
In Wrath, I was barely able to do runs for Ulduar and Trials and Naxx cause of my low gear. That was literally the same up until WoD. I was never allowed into groups because I was too low (and also I barely had time to raid during the week), despite having the highest possible gear up to a point. So with LFR, not only have
I been able to experience content I normally wouldn't be able to BECAUSE OF THE COMMUNITY but I can also accomplish this with "minimal" ilvl. I do Heroic highmaul and BRF, but will I be able to do even normal HFC? No cause THE COMMUNITY won't let me in because I don't have fucking 710 ilvl.
