My favourite safelane carries right now are CK and Riki.

CK's mana problems are fixed with early stat items (wand + drums before armlet). Riki has an amazing power curve when he gets Diffusal and doesn't really have any glaring issues other than excessive detection (still a big economy hit to the enemy team), the silence smoke is incredibly strong.

Q is a root that dispells most buffs and debuffs. You cannot escape its range once the channeling begins. Only by becoming spell immune or invulnerable can you avoid the damage and root.
W makes a target 100% resist to magic damage but not magic immune, it also disarms them and can be cast on allies or enemies. Use this on an enemy carry to take them out of the fight for 6 seconds. Use it on an ally to save them from magic nukes and let your heal heal without damaging them.

Your E is a 400 damage nuke on a 2.5 second cooldown that heals back 500 damage over 9 seconds. The heal can be dispelled with your Q. E > E > Q is a lethal combo. They will have taken about 1k damage in 3 seconds but only healed back around 100/150. E > E is also an extremely powerful nuke in the early game. You can kill most heroes with it outright in the early game along with a few basic attacks.

His ult makes a target take regular damage and double healing, but it prevents the damage from actually procing until after the buff ends, where it subtracts the damage from the healingx2. While it can save someone, often it's just an 8 second Shallow Grave in practice.
