I'm a bit of a Yumi Nikki fag. It can get pretty boring if you have zero idea what to do. At the same time, just using a walkthrough takes most of the fun out of the game too. Still, it's still definitely one of my favorite games out there. Though I can't fully comprehend why.

One of the biggest obstacles early on is that Pain mode has Vic Cherry and another mini boss for you to cross to World 2.

It was pretty damn hard, I passed it using Fardy's Truck Slam and getting a lucky 2000 damage crit on both of them.

One suggestion would be to leave one of the first save points in the hub world untouched and see once you get to that boss if your team is a good enough level to beat them. If not you might need to grind shadow creatures like I did.

Also just as a reminder, even just opening the save points destroys that marker. Even if you don't save the save point disappears.

As sick and tired as I am with Asriel as a whole thanks to the cancerous general, I admit he looks pretty fuckin cool in pictures like this. Frisk as well.

Also, Buzzo single handedly ruined the entire fucking world with his childish lashing out about Lisa's death. It was completely within his power to help fix everything yet he just fucks with Brad. And the whole Joy/Yado subplot felt kind pointless in my eyes. I appreciate how enigmatic it all was though with the buildup.

Yeah, I got it myself knowing it was bad for kicks because it was cheap. But yeah it is a good indication when NOT EVEN THE FUCKING TRAILER can make it look good. I mean the whole car minigame looks pretty shitty too and you can tell the collision detection is shit even in the trailer.

Either controller or mouse. Mouse has some very bad hit detection tho somehow. You have to wander around and look for clues to go on (like for example the first part is finding some stuff to leave the starting warehouse, and some points activate only after you find some other events, for example there's a PC that you can only use to find a passcode once you know you're looking for a passcode, which means pixel hunting every time you find out something new). If you touch a zombie, you used to die immediately. Now, a bar appears and you have to hit spacebar when it's at the top to survive. Otherwise, you're ded all the same (which means doing the same stuff in the same order from the beginning, as the game has no randomization). Also the tiling in the game sucks, there are walls that are accidentally walkable, so you 'climb', and find yourself over the walls and can walk all over them.

It's certainly an experience. Very unsettling, and the strangest art style I've ever seen. Combat is completely trivial for the most part once you get a second party member, but I think that may be intentional, seeing as most of your opponents seem to be random civilians. Give it a try I guess, it's free after all.

So to those who beat it, what did you gather from the ending of Lisa the Joyful? Spoil your ideas for the sake of others who haven't played it yet.

From the music and the sprites present at the end as well as the marked graves for Brad(symbolic empty grave?) and Rando I get the feeling that Buddy is legitimately remorseful for having killed Rando and pushed Brad away until it was too late. Consider there is no pools of blood or joy mutants, I think Buddy worked to make amends for causing so much death and chaos in Olathe by calming the Joy mutants down with Yado's trumpet. The baby she has also seems really similar to Brad's theme, someone Buddy could nurture to act as a second chance to calm the guilt in her heart. By her posture at the end I think she still is very lonely and who can blame her? She's isolated herself from the rest of Olathe and killed the only two people who understood her; Rando and Brad. I think Buddy has given up any Messiah-complex she may have had in her youth and now just wants to make sure Olathe and mankind dies a peaceful death. Not out of spite but just acceptance that Rando was right and that finding personal peace away from the world was the better option. As for any future goals, I think Buddy would probably teach her son how to use Yado's trumpet so that he can continue to offer peace to the last generations of Olathe's men.

Rando is probably physically the strongest, he's just a weenie who can't apply it well. Brad is pretty ruthless and has the technique of a master. Buzzo is basically a walking atomic bomb considering how powerful he is.

I felt so bad for having Buddy's nipple cut off. I hated it when an enemy started doing nothing but crying, and then there was that shit at the end with your party members. I had Brad become an armless monster and I want to fall into the abyss and never have to think sad thoughts again. I did not think I'd be feeling such things.

On the bright side the RNG was incredibly kind to me and nobody died.

Well, Terry died because I decided to be ballsy towards a gang early on, and I regret that, but that's my own damn fault.

I was pretty lucky during my Pain run not to lose party members. I got a game over during the Russian Roulette but on my reload everyone survived.

I only lost Percy and Shocklord to late game Joy mutants. I didn't risk their lives fighting Satan.

I found myself missing Shocklord a lot and even Percy. He proved his usefulness even when he considered himself a loser.

So what's everyone's favorite tune(s) from LISA?

Bloodmoon Rising is probably my favorite, at least from the Painful.

Summer Love, I wake up to it and walk to work too it. I've actually listen to the song it's built from, I like Dingaling's version more. Men's Hair Club is probably my second favorite from Painful.

In terms of in-game music, I really liked "My Lord My Wally" definitely felt like you were taking this spiritual journey; making it all the better once you see Wally and where the "miracles" are coming from.

Also "Blood for Sex" is another theme that was really fitting for the area outside the Joy Lab and other eerie parts.

From Joyful, "He's My Dad" got me teary eyed but "Voices" caught me off guard with lyrics and made me legit cry. It's a pretty simple song but it's haunting.

I've played a shitton of yume nikki fangames, I know which ones are good if you want my input, unless you don't care at all

the YN fanbase is known to make shitty fangames but if you wade through the awful ones you can find some pretty interesting ones, my personal favourites are Miserere by Owl and Yume Nisshi (although the creator is a huge xenophobe and updates come slow)

I'm actually not sure if all of these are made in RPG Maker. I know the one I played, Sluggis Morss: A Delicate Time in History definitely was, but not sure about the first and third one. Fucked up pretentious bullshit. Worth a play just to experience it, as each installment is only about 30 minutes long.
I would link to them but each of them is in a separate download space, and the 3rd one is something like 2 dollars. I'm sure you can find them if you're interested.

yeah, they look fine. Two suggestions, one easy to make and one hard but would be nice:
1) make the headers pop out more. It's hard to tell when each genre begins/ends and would make the whole thing more readable.

As for descriptions, I'll see what I can do. I haven't played that many indie games, so I'd have to resort to having people write descriptions, or lazily copy them off of websites.
It might end up making things look a little too bloated, so I'd try and keep it down to three or four lines at most for each game.

I've decided to get around to playing Space Funeral finally, but after downloading the game, I'm greeted with this.
It seems that the font is broken.
It's all blocky, and the letters stick together.
Any way to fix this?

This is a common problem with the earlier RPG Makers, especially 2k. I'm not sure if any font patches exist for 2003, but some superficial googling suggests that dropping the fonts from 2003's RTP font folder into Windows' Fonts folder might help.

So, would it be wrong of me to assume bullet hell containing any remarkable amount of waifu pandering or fanservice is an almost guaranteed click?

Maybe I've just only seen undertale and touhou, and each has a small mountain of titles using similar grabs which just didn't luck out, but I've never heard of an unsuccessful, quirky in a weeb/dweeb way bullet hell.

I think people have their own way of interpreting Batter's portrait, some see it as him having four eyes instead of one set of eyes and eyebrows. Some interpret the sprite as him having black lines painted underneath his eyes.

Even though some people find out later how the sprite is supposed to look like, they like to draw their first interpretation of him, thinking that it's fun to draw a variation of him instead of the basic "eyebrows and eyes" Batter.
