I don't think the Wii was bad for the industry. It had BC and the motion control was a path the gaming companies had to explore (and it was Microsoft and Sony who killed it, only using it in shitty games). The Wii was family oriented, yes, but it was after Sony "mainstreamed" gaming.
The Wii had good games, but it was also the gate for the Rabbids. One of the worst franchises, but with one of the biggest advertising on TV, associating gaming with Down syndrome.
