All ZSS did was turn Samus into fapbait, even thought she kind of already was.
What ruined her, however, was how they tried to make her more of a character, when Samus is the kind of character where "less is more".

Realistically speaking, a ponytail would make more sense. Jill's RE3 haircut is fine since she's casual there but it is a little bit silly in RE1 since she's supposed to be part of some glorified super-cops or SWAT team squad.
