>tfw you will never get to play Radiata Stories for the first time again
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C6fKXGNIZY
>>390121212
Never played it, never will.
>>390121212
I want this game to get a sequel more than anything.
>>390121212
If I played it right now it would probably feel like that actually.
>>390121212
good
I never played it so I can
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTqc7vro70o
>>390121212
It was a really fun game. Never has kicking everything in sight been so much fun. Vitas the tomboy priestess was my favorite character.
what other jrpg has humor like radiata stories? the second half was a downer after choosing a side though...
>>390121212
Monsters all the way. Humans are for fags.
>>390122176
I don't think there are any. Every other JRPG seems to take itself too seriously. Rogue Galaxy was kind of funny at times though.
>>390121212
Yeah I will. It's in my backlog.
this game is legitimately underrated
it's hard to say that about a lot of games considering the internet but there's a lot of unique shit about this game that hasn't been replicated by its peers in the decade since its come out.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyBUTAkaaB0
I've yet to play a game with a world as immersive as RS. The routines of the npc's, the music, and the interactions of the characters with each other made me feel like I really was in radiata. Combat aside, what made it so unpopular to not warrant a sequel?
>kept trying to get friends to play it, telling them it's got the kind of charm that Zelda and Dark Cloud 2 had with a really fun combat system
>they just never gave a fuck
>can never talk to other people about the game
It hurts.
>>390123532
Just look at what they've been up to.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tri-Ace
I hear it plays great on PCSX2, I'll have to give it a chance. What's the combat like? Like Star Ocean or more like Eternal Sonata?
>>390123532
it wasn't "big" or "epic" enough until too late in the narrative. even though jack is a great character, he flat out doesn't give a fuck about the world around him and it means there isn't a concise plot hook other than "jerkass kid just tries to cut it in a world that is much bigger than he is and keeps failing"
it was just fun and comfy
i want to replay this game but cant get past the main chars screams during battle dont know how i even played it the first time shits annoying
>>390121212
The game was amazing and should definitely get a sequel or some kind of side story or prequel. I wanna play it again now but I remember that stupid space ladder last dungeon that goes on for too long and has too many dead ends. I don't even remember what ending I got.
Also I really liked the sewer hobo.
never heard of this game in my 27 years of life
downloading now. 1.7 gigs
don't fucking disappoint me again,
>>390121212
Are there any other games like Radiata Stories? What made it so memorable?
I have a bunch more webms but they have sound so I can't post them on /v/. It sucks, the game's sound design is so good.
>>390124065
Emulating it?
>>390124065
thanks for giving it a chance, anon.
Any other games where you get to recruit legendary/famous people like elwen, nyx, kain, and godwin?
>>390123704
What are the good Tri-Ace games? They seem to make a ton of star ocean and I've never played any of them.
>>390124167
I have only finished Radiata Stories and Eternal Sonata though so I can't give any opinions.
I want to play this game, even own it, but have been told it's a really fucking downer when it comes to timed events and you can miss a lot of quests? Am I speaking of the right game?
>>390124026
best power walk ever
>>390124309
There are points in the game that lock you out of collecting characters, and when you split you can only have human or non-human friends. It's not a big deal and the game has NG+.
>>390124416
So otherwise I can enjoy the game without any time restrictions?
>>390124487
Yeah. The strategy guide for collecting friends would be top tier comfy if you really want to have a good time.
>>390124309
100%ing it is a massive ordeal. There's stuff you can miss but that's because there is a LOT of stuff. You aren't going to get everything in just one run, and honestly even trying to get everything in two requires a lot of work.
>>390124487
there aren't really "timed" events that i can recall in terms of "you only have a certain amount of minutes to do this thing" but more that everyone in town has their own schedule and you can miss running into someone and being able to help them if you are just in a different time and place as them. The game is definitely enjoyable without 100% recruiting every single person, and without trying too hard you can easily bump into the vast majority of them. I know I definitely didn't grab everyone my first time and I still loved the game.
>>390124618
All right anon, you've convinced me. I have a couple of RPG already started at the moment, but I'll bump up RS as soon as I finish one of them.
Thanks!
>>390124710
Yea it's not like Persona which triggers the OCD. It doesn't feel bad to just go through the story at your leisure.
>>390124767
np it's a fun game.
>>390124767
Also make sure to kick everything and everyone.
>>390124710
Thanks for information. I do appreciate it.
Well, if you do emulate it
1. Right as the game is loading hold triangle and X to enable 16:9 progressive scan.
2. Install this
http://www.mediafire.com/file/gc4e7x7spdrffmh/Radiata+Stories+Shaders+2.0.rar
The game has some visual bugs that took me a while to iron out using these settings(still, some remain outside of software mode). The shaders will make the game less blurry.
everyone looks and sounds like a human child with exactly the same face, personality, and clothing
castles and talking, without ceasing, like most modern 'games,' it's actually a movie from someone who couldn't even write a tv show
secret of mana style music
being a teenager is a hell of a drug, huh? It's not the game that was good (it looks fucking horrible) it was being young that made it seem good
I only remember some shit aboutSilver Dragon being some random noble and Ridley's fiance being racist.
I feel like that 's "the" big twist and I'd st be playing for 30 hours for something I already knew.
>>390125110
>>390125393
Not only are those not the biggest twists in the game, but they aren't even presented AS twists.
There's plenty of mystery and intrigue in the game and a lot of very good twists you don't knowbecause no one fucking talks about this game ever
>>390125732
Fuck that's pretty. I've always loved Forest/Swamp areas in games.
>>390125732
comfy
>>390125393
those aren't really the biggest deal. for the vast majority of the game you're doing other shit.
This isn't really a game that has a big moment you could call "THE TWIST" as the narrative doesn't really hinge on it.
>>390125024
Hey man, thanks for those shaders. I already was planning on replaying the game soon but it'll be great to make the game look as good as it can be. It's a looker.
i have never played it what system is it for so i can try it out
>>390126058
PS2. Radiata Stories
>>390126090
that looks pretty nice for a ps2 game
>>390122025
Jack's sister was mine. She was also very strong.
>>390125968
np don't be afraid to tweak them yourself. The last time I loaded up the game I wondered why I even bothered with the celshading or whatever it was called, it was so subtle. If you crank it up you gain a lot of detail but there are some negative effects usually around faces.
I liked these guys but this section was a bit undercooked.
>>390124343
God, glasses girls are shit.
>>390121212
It's shit. One of the few ARPGs I don't like.
>>390126564
>generalizing it as a mere ARPG
Kinda of a shallow opinion. How long did you play it for?
>>390126926
what's the best human team?
Random battles?
>>390127042
>human
you monster
>>390127084
Baddies roaming around. You can skip them for the most part.
>>390127140
human side is best side
even if it sort of makes you a shitbag
i think radiata stories is pretty much similar to chrono cross even with its' cult following. both comfy but not great.
Reminder that Alicia is the best girl.
Also, has anyone a link to the full manga collection? I only read The Epic of Jack halfway through onMangafoxonce
>>390127042
Elwyn, Nyx, Kain,Lenneth Valkyrie
>>390127521
It's been so long I forget how it played but I remember disliking the ending. I finished the non-human side a couple of years ago and I've been procrastinating on replaying the human since then.
I wanted to take pictures of all the character sheets to make a gallery. But alas.
How would a sequel work out?
K I'm going to bed. Good night.
>>390127618
i like how lenneth slides across the screen. do you have a webm of it?
>>390127731
Same concept different setting. A young heroes journey with a day/night cycle and NPC schedules.
>>390127732
>that Jack waistline
damn
>>390127791
>different setting
>game is called Radiata Stories based on the city of Radiata on the center of the map
>different setting
>>390127868
>Ataidar Stories
that was hard
>>390121212
>tfw you hated Ganz because of how stupid he looks until he grew on you with how adorable he acts.
>>390123532
looking at videos of the game on youtube, the combat does indeed look like a dealbreaker. i'd rather play a walking sim than sit through hours of bad, tedious combat just to experience some decent story/music/areas.
>>390128225
>hours
>implying
It's note tedious. Once you get formations or whatever, battles end instantly.
>>390122025
Haven't played this game but that statement is incorrect. Dark Messiah kicking is best kicking.
Which girl did you watch fireworks with, /v/?
For me it was Flora.
>>390128225
i think the formations are pretty neat. it's just star ocean though
>>390124167
>>390124167
Star Ocean series is pretty good, though post SO3 it seems to have fallen a bit in quality.
The whole Valkyrie Profile series is absolutely amazing. The first one is one of my favourite games of all time.
Resonance of Fate, from what I've heard, has one of the best battle systems in the history of the genre.
