I did. Hence why I'm disgreeing with him. The only difficulty in vanilla D1 were enemies that took entire ammo reserves to kill, and the off chance that one of their add swarms spawned on top of you. Outside of the occasional Wizard dropping a cloud on you in the middle of a Thrall swarm, there was vert little chance of you dying to anything in the story (And even then, Titans could shrug off even that, and Supers would be saved just for that kind of scenario.)
He's also flat out wrong, because bith Nightfalls and Raids have higher difficulty choices (Prestige and Heroic, respectively). If anything, D2 provides harder public events, especially with the new Heroic Event system allowing for an immediate change based on your gameplay.

I say this as someone who played OW Beta, pre-ordered the Origins edition, and drops $10 any time a big event pops up for the boxes.
OW takes very little skill outside of the very high tier comp games, and along with newly added heroes the 'meta' is constantly fucked by whatever Blizz thinks would be 'balanced'. Junkrat's new mine buff and Doomfist are massive examples. Half the heroes are fire and forget, moost of the tanks are incredibly easy to use properly, and your biggest hurdle is trying to get fewer retards on your team than the other team.

I was a skeptic to destiny 2 after 1 but I've been enjoying 2 far more than I ever did with Destiny 1. I mean I played it the beta, It's hand cannon or get fucked - the game. The netcode is garbage though, so maybe they'll keep some miniscule amount of aids in the game anyway. It felt like the hitboxes in PvP were way too large anyway.
