I don't remember a single character from this game besides the guy who had great abs and said he wanted to be a sky pirate once or something.

By comparison I remember all the characters from the previous games and even FF13.

Nothing irritates more than having an entire cast I don't care about in a nothing story, the same thing happened in FF15 as well but not as bad as this one.

I intended to play this but then completely forgot about it.

Not sure what to say, don't treat the story too seriously and enjoy the fun gameplay like I did.

The sequels are much better than the first when it comes to gameplay but they got lazier with the story.

Because FFX was the last one anyone cared about. That was the last game that even resembled the Final Fantasy franchise in the last 16 years.

Anybody else noticed that all FF games Square made after PS1 era were unfinished or rushed?

Original 10 was really light on content and really linear.
12 seems to have some story missing along the way that would have fleshed out some of the characters.
13 is even more hardcore hallway simulator with the most braindead battle system the series has had so far.
15 went linear in the last half of the game because they had to rush it out of the door because they didn't have time to finish all the content.

And now FF7remake is in development hell and is being cut to pieces.

Played it for the first time and I'm amazed how mediocre it is.
I somewhat enjoyed it, but it's clear the series was already at the stage of breaking itself too much just for the sake of innovation.
I appreciated the freedom to explore certain areas out of order but pretty much everything was shit.
Combat more automated than XIII. Vaan and his impact on the story. Unsatisfying progression. Hp sponge optional bosses. Inconclusive sequel bait plot.
It's not bad. It's not good either. It merely exists in the earlier stage of consistent downward spiral FF entered after IX.

What's good about LR, though?
The story makes even less sense than XIII-2 which was already pure absurd by XIII standards. Random encounters are tedious and unrewarding. The entire game feels like a never ending string of side quests ripped from another project and repurposed as the main plot.
The several tight boss fights do not make up for the rest of the horrible scavenger hunts this game puts you through.

Is there any prediction of it going to steam?

What's even funnier is that Vaan and Penelo are voiced by literal amateurs in the Japanese version which makes them stand out in a very odd way.

FFXII HAS ITS PROBLEMS

Penelo and Balthier are less than ideal for both of those jobs. Balthier is ironically a poor machinist despite being shown with a gun in his art and it being his default weapon, and Penelo is better suited as a black/white/time/red mage.

As someone who played the original zodiac version, how is the balance in this game when compared to it? I would imagine it's pretty fucked if they didn't change a thing since they added the option to have a second job, the original one was already broken enough too.
