Is there even spellmaking anymore? I just want Jump 100 for 2 seconds on self.

even the inventory was godly you could just move an item directly from inventory to the world and that shit would just materialize right in front of you
FUCK
>>
>>389955193
There isn't even an acrobatics skill...
>>
>>389955295
>I don't want to talk about it
>>
>>389955061
Jump spells + high acrobatics was so much fun. I loved being able to leap around everywhere like some magical flying faggot
>>
>>389955193
They got rid of Jump and Levitate spells in Oblivion, but at least that game still had spellmaking
>>
>>389955328
if they're gonna use the same engine again then I doubt it would take much effort for bethesda to implement jump boosting magic. But it'll look like jank and make their world feel smaller.
>>
>>389955328
Skyrim changed the leveling system almost completely, from morrowind and oblivion. Im still not sure which system I prefer
>>
>>389955295
>Sports refrences in a hardcore roleplaying game.
>>
>>389955328
I would be surprised if ES6 even has skills
>>
>>389955620
Oh boy, you must really love skyrim then.

I'm so glad elder scrolls 5 removed all of that pesky charm and high entertainment that was found in magic classes.
>>
>>389955668
simple fix, don't enclude the default ability to sprint.
>>
>>389956265
Skyrim did add traps in the very least. Playing as a mage in that game did provide some entertainment.
>>
They added jetpacks to Fallout 4, why can't we get levitation and acrobatics?
>>
>>389955620
You can just fortify acrobatics in Oblivion.
>>
>>389955061
>magic system used in vanilla Morrowind
Yep useless or op spells everywhere and spell creation to further break the game. Sounds great.
>>
>>389957239
who said you couldn't? It just messes with some things, like making it look good or having a smooth transition between the overworld and the cities. Fallout 4 just put you at the front entrance when you dropped into Diamond City or Goodneighbor from above. It also changes how they make dungeons if people can use basically unlimited levitation any time.

It's not a programming limitation, it's a design limitation.
>>
>>389957343
The most fortification possible in Oblivion is nowhere near as much as levitation and jumping in Morrowind
>>
>>389957383
>can only spam destruction and conjuration spells
Yup, Obvivion and Skyrim got it right. They have sooo many ways to approach the game
>>
>>389957884
>It also changes how they make dungeons
Why?
>>
>>389957884
Morrowind's programming was fine, there was no reason to change it. It was fun and let us approach the game in many fun and creative ways. Now all I can do is spam fireball.

>>
>>389958328
I guess because they can't drop you down pits like in Kagrenzel, have ledges at the end of dungeons that drop you back at the start, let you clear a dungeon because it's mainly a big spiral staircase with enemies, they'd need to have traps in enclosed areas that you can't levitate past and probably a bunch more.

I mean, I'm sure there are folks who think they're super clever for casting levitate but all they're doing is casting levitate to skip stuff and dungeons need to be designed around that because every player with have levitate if it's in the game.

The UI truly made me mad. I could lie to myself and say that lack of levitation had something to do with the engine or too much graphix or whatever, but there was no way I could ignore the fact that the UI was specifically made for consoles and that they made no attempt to adapt it to PC.

in a sense, it kinda is.

>>389958932
I see what you mean but at the same time it's not like it would be so hard to just put some more thought into level design to accomodate Levitate.
>>
>>389958891
shows how uncreative and bland you are.
do you hate fun? do you always play games in the most boring way possible?

Damnit you guys are making me want to reinstall Morrowind just to dick around with a wizard build.
Only I already know I suck at them
>>

Wait, was it really 2000 years ago? Is that how long has passed until Skyrim?
>>

They got rid of Mysticism too. Spears and medium armor too, but I think everyone knows that.

i miss the old enchanting system
low chance to make it yourself for free*
guar-enteed success if you pay out the ass for it
recharge over time is based on skill level
100/1 chance to cast
SOULS
the filled soulgems told you whats soul was inside so you could essentially make your own soulédex gotta catch 'em all
detect key enchantment and animal spells were also pretty boss

Unpopular opinion here in /v/. The changes made to magic and skills in
skyrim where for the better. Even thought there are significantly less spells the spells they do have play and feel better. Quality over quanity. Hopefully Todd will keep all the spells and add a slew of new ones to TES 6. Regardless who plays skyrim without apocalypse spells anymore?
>>
Giving you freedom to do what you want and to think creatively won't make Bethesda any money.

You're the only one on this thread that claims that magic system in oblivion and skyrim are better
>>
>>389960173
I like the Skyrim spell system in theory but in practice they're too ineffective. In Skyrim you can increase your weapon damage with Skills, Perks, Blacksmithing and Enchanting both armor and weapons. The spells can be buffed a bit and enchantments just let you spam them more. So magic tends to loss it's impact at higher levels unless I want to kite enemies for a few minutes.

Why would you ever uninstall morrowind?
>>389960173
You could argue that combining skills into others made it more accessible, but that skill tree perk shit is unforgivable.
At least in oblivion, the journeyman, apprentice, master levels of a skill made sense.

spraying spells were a cool but annoying mistake
its like how destruction being so integral to magic damage that you basically never level anything else

How do I prevent Morrowind from getting boring as shit when you become incredibly overpowered and have artifacts that make you nigh invincible in the late game?
I keep getting bored and quitting playthroughs every single time because of this, I even purposefully gimped myself and stunted my levelling and it still happened on my most recent character.
I've yet to finish the game in 7 years.

The skill tree is the best thing to ever happen to TES. Unfortunately skyrims is unblanced as shit. Leveling up was something much more looked foward to instead of the slight increase in stats you barely noticed. Having abilities and skills is redundant. They sould have kept classes thought.

turn up the difficulty.
the game is more about lore, roleplaying, and atmosphere, rather than game play.
>>
>>389956598
It really didn't though, unless it was your first time playing an Elder Scrolls game. What's worse is that the only entertaining spells, like frenzy and calm, were limited to ridiculously low levels and nothing else, making them essentially pointless.

>>389961332
It's just not possible do to the engine, anon. Like ladders. It simply can't be done!

Thanks for the offer, but I'm good I think. Although I need to download those unofficial patches and shit? Maybe some graphics too.
But most of all I need to find out how to bi gud. I remember getting so pissed off at anything other than melee being 99% misses. Why would anyone pick archer in this game? F.ex.

You can do the same in every other TES. Just stuff in a paralysis effect.

You're on the right track buy you can go Jewer.
Have the spell charm on touch for 1 sec, 100
Fortify your Personality as well
And you can also alter the merchant's mercantile. I can't remember which is better, though, to raise it or to lower it.

>because every player with have levitate if it's in the game.
This isn't even vaguely close to true. Especially if you make it a spell that's hard to cast effectively in terms of skill requirements, like it was in morrowind.

Also, there's nothing wrong with players taking a certain playstyle being able to skip shit. Same with a player skipping a section by lockpicking through a door.
>>
>>389957383
>Sounds great.
It is. Breaking the game to make stupid and overpowered shit is the most fun you can have in a game.
You certainly don't play a TES game for the story, graphics or quests. The atmosphere and the world desing are shallow as well, the only things worth are the lore, and how can you abuse game mechanics
>>
>>389955301
>>389958958
Morrowind has such a perfect UI and when you go from that to Skyrim's UI which I legit think is one of the worst designed menu systems in RPGs ever you just wonder what the actual fuck happened. Oblivion had a shitty console interface too but it was nowhere near as bad as Skyrim's.
>>
>>389962296
>>389962338
I've only played Morrowind once, but I have immensely fond memories of my one playthrough because it was on the fucking Xbox, shit like a war of attrition against Dremora and Golden Saints in a Daedric Ruin and coming out with a ton of Daedric weapons and armour, felt fucking great. Holding onto my inventory of enchanted items I found, like levitation pants I equipped for getting around and waterwalking clothes, too. Fucking loved that feeling, magic actually felt powerful and important. Kept my Daedric Battleaxe for the whole game, too, didn't use anything else.

>You certainly don't play a TES game for the story, graphics or quests. The atmosphere and the world desing are shallow as well
I disagree with this, Morrowind has a great story, setting and atmosphere, some of the best in fantasy for how alien but consistent it is.
>>
the levitate issue shouldnt even be a thing anymore
with skyrims "walk towards to enter" approach to caves they could simply have a loading area over the walled cities that have to be instanced to consoles
it might not be the most visually spectacular part of the game but i'd still buy it
