I used to care about trophies and hunting them when I was still in school. It honestly doesn't matter and is another sign of autism if it carries on to your adulthood.

I haven't 100% anything since I finished high school 7 years ago. They give replay value, but people who go for gay shit like collectibles picking up all the books, feathers, scanning etc have pure autism. There is nothing fun about wasting 10-20 hours picking up all that shit for an "achievement".

I love achievements. I never focus on them when I start a game however. After Ive played the game enough to satisfy everything Im willing to do on my own and learn I then try to get achievements. They extend the games life to me and introduce me to features or things inwould otherwise ignore.

My favorite achievements are ones that are actually difficult. Ones for beating the hardest difficulty, getting S ranks on every level, time attack modes, 1ccing, etc.

The people who make the game set the requirements for 100%. If one of those requirements is finishing the game in a certain amount of time, you have not 100%'d the game. If you finish the game, you get an achievement for finishing the game. If you want to get 100%, you do what the devs designated as 100%

Games have been doing special playthroughs long before achievements, they also have counted for completely finishing the game. Not sure what your problem is. Why are you upset that devs offer things to do to people that enjoy them?

Really easy, but you do have to fight a lot, many challenges and tournaments. No online trophies. There was a fight that I had to repeat many times because with just llike 3 or 4 hits it won't give you the S ranking, and it's a really long battle, other than that really easy, but it got kinda boring for me, reminded me why I don't go for plats anymore.

I think the real mystery here is why anyone would be compelled to get a lot of achievements or "plat" a game in the first place. What is everyone else missing out on? The satisfaction of crossing a bunch of thoughtlessly placed goalposts? Is it the little trophy graphic you're all so into?

Last time I checked, games have always reciprocated your achievements by, you know, giving you new moves, letting you go to the next level, unlocking things, etc. These 360 era "achievement" systems are purely text boxes and graphics, and you can't even compare your achievement-scores with others in a meaningful way because they're just stacks of random numbers.

My latest 100% was not a hero.

My last platinum was Darksiders for the PS4.
It had some bullshit trophies but it was fun.
I tried to go for darksiders 2 platinum but that game has way too many collectibles and no way to keep track of them unless i went trough the entire game again.

Currently working on the sped ops the line platinum because it has no multiplayer related trophies and they are quite straight forward.

Mega Man for example. I used to do all kinds of dumb shit in them as a kid like running through levels without fighting pretending Mega Man was "broken", or fighting the bosses with just the buster. It also lets you weed out the shitters by seeing their kill count achievements, or giving you proof of how much people have played a game.

Achievements are nice when they pose different, more fun ways of playing the game. Xcom 2 has an achievement for beating the game before a certain deadline. It actually was really fun trying to do later areas with low tech because you need to spend all your research time on plot.

World of Final Fantasy. It was alright, mostly time-consuming, but I was missing a chest for the last trophy I needed and spent 3 hours combing for it. Other than that, nothing's missable, thankfully.
It's very much a fanservice game: plenty of it's solid (fighting XG from Xenogears as the super-boss) while some of it's completely rancid, like the end credits dance, so make of that what you will.

Every now and again I use them as an excuse to revisit a game I've already finished, but other than that I feel they're pretty inoffensive.
The people who judge others based on them and won't buy games that don't have them, now they are the real problem.
