Here's my hottest take: SMS is a better-designed game than Galaxy with better platforming, Galaxy also controls floaty in comparison, with SMS feeling like an evolution of 64, once you get the hang of meshing FLUDD with 64-style movement, it feels great

I thought FLUDD was pretty cool but I disliked that it was the main gimmick of the game.

If it was one out of 3-4 gimmicky tools you could use I'd be fine with it but I didn't like that I had to use it virtually all the time.

The best part of Sunshine were those "zone" levels with extreme platforming in a floaty empty void.

So how much is waggle a part of Switch?

Nintendo consoles went from my favorite to least favorite way back when the Wii came out because I found waggling at a screen with an inaccurate fuck stick to be anti-fun, ruining any interest in Galaxy 1/2.

Waggling looks much less emphasized on Switch. I have cautious optimism for Odyssey. Is waggle becoming as phased out as I think it is?

Waggle is still there, but it's much more subtle and optional. Like, you can use motion controls in Splatoon 2 or Odyssey, but they're both completely optional. They're arguably the best way to play Splatoon 2 though. There's not really any outside of dedicated wagglan games like 1-2-Switch. Some games have optional gyro controls, like Splatoon and BoTW, but those are actually useful and make the game more enjoyable than just "SHAKE THE WIIMOTE INSTEAD OF PRESSING A BUTTON".

I don't know, I'd say the Gamecube years were some of Nintendo's most interesting, personally. Sure, you had the more mainline entries like Mario and Zelda falling flat, but you also had some REALLY interesting experimental shit like Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Doshin the Giant, Custom Robo, Chibi Robo, and others.

Odyssey has more varied world design, movement that looks more like 64, and, hopefully, better level design. Plus, it has more variety in the hubs. Makes sense to be excited for Odyssey, even if you didn't like Sunshine

I think what he means is that Banjo-Kazooie was designed as an improvement over Super Mario 64 in that you didn't have to leave the level every time you got a main collectable, which is one of the changes Odyssey has made to the classic Sandbox Mario games.
