Because it has garbage combat. The story is alright, the graphics are great and the game has some really wonderful moments but all that is overshadowed by poor to mediocre gameplay

It's worse in every way than 1 besides graphics. Yes, even combat. 1 is mindless at worst and a lot of thought can go into preparing for the big fights later on. But 2 is roll like a madman and spam lights at its best. The story can't even begin to compare, though Letho is a great antagonist. 3's greatest accomplishment was unfucking all the groundwork 2 laid out.

we used to have a lot of great threads about 2 and the series as a whole, but now we can't because of several reasons.

Because it's one hell of a difficult game to get into.
The first time I played it I hated it. This was around the time of release.

I played it a second time roughly 2 years later and started to get it. The third time I played it was the best experience ever.

The combat is actually good but unforgiving as hell. One misclick and you miss your bombs or get hit. Getting hit in the back could one shot you unless you obtain better gear or get the swordsmanship skill.

After all these playthroughs the only real flaws of TW2 are the alchemy (no drinking in combat, no crafting/drinking while not meditating means by the time you know what you're fighting it's too late to drink/craft potions.) and also not being able to disable the dark mode GUI effect natively (works with mods).

Yes tw2 has superior graphics, characters, dialogue, story, choice/consequences.
