Where the fuck do I find Stanislav Rubin? He's supposed to show up at Georgiys at 11pm but he never shows up. I checked and he's also supposed to be at Victors house earlier but he's never there either. I've played through Day 1 4 or 5 times now and he never shows up. I killed the butcher, got the Shmowder from the kids, talked to all of the Kains, and talked to Vlad and the other guy with the mystic woman.
General Pathologic thread also.

i'm at my wits end. every time i launch the game it crashes saying i need to update my windows media 8 codecs. fucking intro movies. weird thing is i can open the intro movies and play them with wmp but they won't play when the game starts.
i have it on steam but i might get it on gog just to see if the problem persists. i didn't have this problem until i upgraded my motherboard a few months ago.
>>389873454
I'm assuming you tried this fix?
https://steamcommunity.com/app/384110/discussions/0/496879865898086605/
>>389874513
yeah i installed that, still doesn't work. i think my only solution will be to do a clean install of windows.
>>389873045
IIRC, Rubin comes to the Kains house in the afternoon or the night.
>>389873045
Did exhaust all dialog options of the main quest charachters? (Yulia, Victor, Vlad etc.) that might be the issue.
>>389874917
Have you tried removing Windows Media Player or Codecs and reinstalling. I'm kinda shooting blind now since this never happened to me. Try to post an email to IPL or Steam Discussions maybe they can help.
>>389875321
I talked to Yulia, Georgiy, Victor and Vlad. But which Vlad? Younger or the older guy?
>24 hr for a single playthrough
>3 playthroughs
>on a snail's pace
>no puzzles
>no gameplay
>shit dialogue
>>389873045
Did you also talk to young Vlad ?
>walking is super slow
>set FOV to max
>you now have the illusion of going fastI know you can speed up the game in the console, but that already feels like cheating
>>389875949
Both
>>389876143
>shit dialogue
>>389875949
>Younger or the older guy?
There's you problem, talk to both.
I think that after talking to old Vlad, when exiting the house, you'll see an odongh running away that will lead you to young Vlad's house.
>>389877010
isn't pathologic a source engine game? is it possible to speed up the walking speed?
>>389876237
>>389877665
This turned out to be the problem. I had talked to Younger Vlad to get the reward from killing the butcher but apparently there was dialogue after that.
>>389877747
Pathologic 2 will be on source
normal patologic is on some other engine
It is possible to speed up both game time (resulting in faster everything) or just walk speed
if anything, you should only use former
>>389877747
>source engine ?
Not at all, what makes you think that ?
And yes, you can use console commands to speed up the whole game or just the walking speed.
>upspeed 1.33
will speed up everything by 33%
>gt_speed 3.3
will make the world (and only the world, not you) slower, so combine with the above to only increase walking speed.
>>389879303
>Pathologic 2 will be on source
But that's wrong. Pathologic 2 is being made in Unity.
>>389879303
>Pathologic 2 will be on source
It will be in Unity
>normal patologic is on some other engine
It was their homebrew engine which is pretty impressive imo
I have nothing to say but I feel obliged to at least post a picture since I can't just let a Pathologic thread sink
>>389873454
Hey anon, I remember you from the other thread. Sorry I wasn't able to reply before it archived.
If you've got the codecs installed and the files are playing through WMP you may want to go through some of the usual suspects. Changing the affinity of precessor cores so that it uses just one. Running the program as an administrator and try running in Win7 compatibility. Good luck actor.

>>389879303
It was a custome engine made for the game. The remake/reimagining is on Unity 5.
>>389879732
>which is pretty impressive
Especially when considering that almost none of the original IPL people had any prior gamedev experience.
It's pretty funny to hear them talk about it too :
>But it did work! During the development we were in permanent awe. Here are the player’s hands, oh my god, they’re working, they’re moving, they're even capable of holding a knife!
>Yes, the models are crude, their animations twitchy, but they’re alive! They are walking, talking, breathing! They’re making their way through the clumsy routines!
So, when is Pathologic 2 coming out?
And why is it called Pathologic 2?
>>389880746
>So, when is Pathologic 2 coming out?
Q1 2018, apparently
>And why is it called Pathologic 2?
Cause they want each game to be discussed on their own merits and not be confused together. That and to let the normalfags to not get too confused.
Hello, my dear steppebros.
As you've surely noticed, there's been quite a bit of confusion since they changed the name to pathologic 2.
>Is it a sequel ?
>Did they cancel the remake ?
>This looks good, but do I need to play the first one before ?
On top of that, people unfamiliar with Pathologic already get easily confused by the different versions : Pathologic, Pathologic Classic HD, Pathologic the Marble Nest, and now Pathologic 2...
For that reason, in the thread last week, I decided to make a new infographic, to give a detailed explanation about all these different versions, and tell new players why they should or shouldn't play classic HD before Pathologic 2.
Here it is, still in progress. Any thoughts or suggestions ?
The text explaining each game will be next to the covers.
I also plan on adding more runes at the top.
>>389880746
I think the reasoning behind the 2 is that what they wanted to do with Pathologic they wern't able to initially, this time they're hoping to be able to. It's the 2nd attempt at realising what they wanted to do. I get why they chose the 2 but given sequel naming conventions it has differnent connotations for the rest of us.
>>389881449
Good to see you again steppe-bro. It's coming along nicely. As a suggestion, might be worth having the images all be the same size and alligned together.
>>389881449
Eyy, I remember you.
I would say that you need to use a diffrent sized font for the text so that the lorem ipsum doesn't blend in with the game titles. So either make the titles bigger, the descriptions noticable smaller or use two different fonts,
>tfw no qt IPL gf
>>389882227

Why even live.
>>389881801
I'll do that for the last 3, but the first one has a stupid shape.
>>389881860
Yup, that makes sense. Any particular font you want to see ? I've used this one for the titles,
>http://www.dafont.com/linux-libertine.font
but it works better for block of text, so I think I'll use it on the description instead. And the titles will be some other font, and bigger, and maybe a slightly different color too.
>>389881449
Not a deal breaker but fix the aspect ratios of last 3 images. Otherwise it looks good.

every time i see another one of these threads i think pathologic's become mainstream
and then i still recognize most people posting
>>389882942
if it helps, both the original and classic hd use fritz quadrata
>>389883506
it is becoming mainstream
haven't you seen the tinybuild crowd already talking about it
>>389883506
Is this shooped, or a mod? Does Pathologic even have mods?
>>389882942
I'm afraid I'm terrible at fonts but using the in-game one like >>389883506 said sounds like a good idea
>>389883589
We will see that when the game comes out. They can market it all they want but in the end Pathologic must be a harsh and unforgiving experience and that will probably filter the masses. Also IPL needs this kinda publicity, as long as they don't sacrifice their vision for the game (which I highly doubt they ever will).
>>389883589
when will they stop making new games and finish hello neighbor?!?!?!11!!1/!!?!
>>389883591
modded
https://github.com/somevideoguy/pathologic
if you're willing to fuck around with python you can edit pathologic dialogue, but it's slightly tedious and the game already has a somewhat decent english translation so i don't think anyone's bothered with it since classic hd came out
i wanted to fix some of the typos since classic hd still reads like it was never gone over by a native english speaker but god knows when that'll happen
if you look around a bit you can dig up old translation projects people were working on, and if you're lucky vlad might show up and clarify
>>389884020
>when will they stop making new games and finish hello neighbor?!?!?!11!!1/!!?!
You just filed off another day from my life expectancy, you malady
>>389882942
Maybe a version of the menu background for the original release of the game?
So if Pathologic 2 will be a remake, should I still play through the original (actually Classic HD), or just wait for a new one? I played some of it and liked it, but it's a bit too slow and empty so I lost a desire to finish it.
>>389884020
>https://github.com/somevideoguy/pathologic
Is that the parser to remove all the blanks from the script file ? I can access all the other resource files easily enough, but that part always stumped me.
>>389883591
Textures, sound and script can all be modded.
>>389884281
They've made clear that this is not a "remake" because there is new content and it will be a new experience.
Still sounds like a remake to me, just a good one that doesn't try to be a 1:1 copy. Like REmake.
From what gameplay we've seen of "Pathologic 2", it seems like it will still be slow and empty, so, I mean. . . .

i haven't teared through all of it yet, but decode/encode_keys is what you're looking for
you can edit textures, sounds, and script files just fine, there are a few things stored in xmls that i think might be possible to edit but i haven't fucked around with that yet either
>>389884281
Short anwser - we don't know as the remake is not out
Long anwser - If you liked the original enough to only be detered by how slow it was, I'd advise you to just get yourself a week or so just to finish one route. It's true that the more you postpone returning to it, the less you want to do it. It's not a traditionally fun game. But hey, winter is just around the corner and I always found the long, cold nights to be perfect for me to feel like returning to that cursed town.
>>389884281
I'd keep playing it. I'm biased as I played through the original and classic HD versions but you should get a lot out of the game, it'll likely make you even more eager for the remake/reimagining.
>>389884279
I'll consider it, but I prefer to have the cover picture, as that's what people see when they search for it.
>>389884281
Work is under way to answer all such questions once and for all, in one nifty picture.
In the meantime, have a copypasta from previous threads :
The short answer is, we don't know. Nobody knows.
The long answer is : original Pathologic will ALWAYS be worth playing. However, it's not easy to get into, and has its fair share of flaws. Our collective hope is that the new Pathologic (I refuse to call it Pathologic 2) will not only improve on those shortcomings, but also retain everything that made the old game so unique. If that hapens, then the old pathologic will effectively be made redundant, and we safely say "just play the remake".
But nobody knows if that will happen. Nobody knows what the new Pathologic will be like.
So, until release day, I can only tell you this : play the old pathologic; if you can't get into it, try the demo for the new pathologic.
On top of all that, while both games share the same setting, the story will - supposedly - be different enough to warrant playing both games.
And of course, if you decide to play old Pathologic, don't actually play the original 2005 release. Play "Pathologic : classic HD"

Didn't they make the void before pathologic.
>>389886659
Nope. Pathologic was their firstest baby, Turgor was second.
>>389886659
Pathologic
Void
Cargo
Knock-knock
Classic HD
Pathologic (2)
>>389885243
That would be nice. Something where you see the branching dialogues for each character on each day ?
Organizing it would be tedious though, because the script in the gamefiles isn't ordered or commented - You'd have to recognize who says each sentence, when, and in what context.
>>389886659
Nope, Pathologic came first. You can tell that they already had some experience when making Turgor/the Void, alteast compared to OG pathologic.
Well, actors, I'm off to bed so that I don't die at work. Don't die on me by the time I wake up, though you probably will.

I'm finally getting around to Clara's route and it's comforting to find out that not everyone is as much of a terrible person as they seemed. They're worse.
I like how her dialogue choices are either "naive, sweet girl trying to help" or "I AM GOD'S WRATH GIVEN HUMAN FORM, FEAR ME OR PERISH" and you can alternate pretty much at will.
>>389890404
>>389890952
So, who's meethos anyway ? Is it a she ? A he ? A bull ?
I could recognize Nikolay and Alphyna, and I know the names of some of the others, but I know absolutely nothing about Meethos.
Every time there's a Pathologic thread on /v/ I get a hankering to reinstall, but always end up playing Dota 2 and fapping to futa porn instead. Its been 12 years and I still never touched Changeling route, plus I pretty much forgot most of the lore. Fuck me.

>>389883506
Unless they do some massive overhauls I don't think it will ever go beyond cult status. It's just way too unforgiving and surreal to attract a wide audience.
I have a sound issue if anyone has a suggestion. I started playing Classic HD earlier today and did some googling but didn't find a mention of this bug.
When entering conversation the Adherents voice plays from the back most speakers depending on setup (and briefly from the side in one instance). For now I've set my system to stereo, but I'd prefer to not need to.
Is there anywhere to find a complete transcript of the game's text short of poking around in the files? With books, once you've read it if you want to go back and reread a passage you can just thumb through to the right page, but Pathologic is not so easy.
