Yes. I wish I would have kept at youtubeing/streaming like almost 10 years ago. I put in a minor amount of effort and gave up pretty quick, but I could have been one of the 'big names' if I kept at it. Or at least I tell myself that, plenty of old youtubers aren't famous now, so I just tell myself that.

Not really. While they get to do what they love most of them need to tie their face to this job. Many people hate streamers so they'll put in a real effort into ruining their lives because of envy or just for fun, which will hurt the streamer's future job prospects once the fad it over or loses it's steam. This is especially true for the gamurgrills and people with strong left-wing opinions. The only guy I known who doesn't show his face on a regular basis and made it big is probably Cr1tikal and while he can kinda live off the YouTube money he is nowhere near the big leagues like Pewdiepie.

If you base your "career" on YouTube the risk of going out of "business" is quite real, since YouTube is known for screwing people over. There are other jobs where you can make a lot of money which doesn't come with this kind of a risk.

I'm certainly less jealous of them than actual celebrities. Video games are cool but I'd much rather be doing cocaine while fucking beautiful women.

Lirik, one of the biggest (if not the biggest?) twitch streamer never has face cam. There are pictures of him but it's not like most people would recognize him on the street like pewdiepie. He makes a shit ton of money from donations and subscriptions, he's a millionare no doubt
