the first game really is boring. if you don't like the second game then just drop the series.
honestly the whole series is fairly mediocre, but I still enjoyed it for what it was.

i mean, the plataforms momments are actually kinda fun, i like this little momments of adventure, but DAMN that BORING COMBAT, just run to a room kill 10 guys, them run to another room and kill more 10 guys.

Try to incorporate lots of melee and flanking into your fights and the games become significantly better. Of course, that isn't really reasonable on difficulties higher than hard, but you'll get the idea.

1 is meh, 2 is great, 3 is basically 2.5, 4 is all over. the forced action in 4 isnt good, but the exploration and open encounters are great. cutscenes are way too long.

The later games improve the setpieces and aesthetics but honestly the gameplay never really improves in any significant fashion. There's some quality of life improvements but the boring fundamental mechanics stay the same. God damn I wish Naughty Dog would go back to making games that aren't third-person cover shooters.

I just finished the series on the collection myself.
