I personally never bother with levels or badges, I just use steam as a way to launch my games. I have put 1000's of hours into certain games in steam, but I just checked by profile, and I am only level 7, which people are saying ITT is suspicious.

You need to get badges to level up.

You have to either participate in the minigames during the next steam sale to get the badge for it and possibly get enough EXP to level up.

Alternatively, or you can sell or trade some of the cards you get from games in the marketplace, to get enough cards for other games to get the badge for them and again, level up.

You probably have some "cards" in your inventory from playing games a bunch. To level up, you earn XP, and the main way to earn XP is by crafting badges.

To craft a badge, you need all the cards from a game.

Lets say Game X has 5 cards.

You played the game, and got a notification to say Cards 1, 2 and 3 are in your inventory. You still need 4 and 5 to craft the badge.

You can buy them, but fuck that.
Instead, find other cards that you have duplicates of and sell them on the market (or turn then into gems or whatever the fuck, selling is better.)

Sell them on market for slightly less than what their "worth" is and you will make a few pennies. Use pennies to buy cards.
Craft your badges, you level up quickly. You also get profile backgrounds from the game you crafted a badge for.

If you are not social on steam, you have 0 reason to level up.
If you ARE social, levelling up basically gives you:

>More slots to show off stuff on your profile (art, screenshots, achievements, etc)
>Increased drop rates for cards

It's basically entirely based on whether you are social or not.
