What are the most depressing games you've ever played?
And I mean really depressing, not just a meme atmosphere.
THIS ISEVOLUTIOOON
SOMA will always be the loneliest game one can play. Literally watching the human race go extinct

Aren't you completely wrong?
Most of the game happens after human race is already extinct and at least we managed to send something into space in hopes of some miracle.

Pathologic

>miracle
>maybe a few years before satellite hit by debris
Silent Hill 2
Fragile Dreams.

this

Agree. It so hard to replay SH2 for me.

I generally hate video games light on gameplay and heavy on story and voice acting, but SOMA really impressed me. An actually halfways decent story and fantastic voice acting. Shit is pretty bleak, yeah, would have been moreso if the ending wasn't predictable but one of the better games of its genre.

I came into the thread to post this

As much as I hate the "lol your decisions don't mean jack shit" design Walking Dead season one was a bit of a gut punch. Everything since has been awful, though.
I found Shadow of the Colossus really depressing. A lot of people see the ending as something beautiful as the ultimate sacrifice, but... In my eyes, it's just makes me feel sad, and depressed...
>>389812578
is that the guy from Hatred?
>>389814285
No, it's from the game The Darkness, it's Jack Estacado. A pretty amazing game, and very sad as well. A man cursed by a demon, and by love!
>>389814417
his name is not important
>>389813038
I could be remembering wrong, haven't played the game since release. But isn't there a part at the end where you find a woman on life support and then she dies or something? It may have even been a player choice to disconnect her.

>>389813785
It pisses me off that Telltale's gone to such shit. TWD S1 made me feel genuine emotions and is definitely a top-tier movie """game"""
>>389814774
That person is you. You sit in a chair and transfer your consciousness into a new body (with the power suit), while the old you is left to die on life support. You can choose to mercifully kill yourself.
>>389815201
No but there is one last human you find later and you can choose to unplug her

LISA for me
It's hard to beat the frustration of playing as a drug addict from a broken home who perpetuates the abuse while he tries to save the one person he cares about, fail, then subsequently play as hisnotdaughter as she understandably descends into abusing drugs and becoming a murderhobo herself
Genealogy of the Holy War
>Sigurd's wife is kidnapped and brainwashed to forget about him
>Sigurd's good friend, Eldigan, is executed for refusing to fight him
>Sigurd is framed for murdering the prince and branded a traitor to his homeland
>Brother-in-law and sister are murdered in an ambush when they try to assist him
>Reunites with his wife, but she doesn't remember him
>His army is wiped out
>He is murdered
>All he accomplished was conquering kingdoms that could have opposed Alvis and laid the groundwork for Alvis to become the Emperor of the Grannvale Empire
Beyond Eyes
depressing in a lot more ways than one
>>389816419
you're gay
>>389815354
I hate buddy.
Also loved LISA the Painful so much I had a custom poncho made.
Out of all the available (to the player) decisions;l Brad did nothing wrong.

the one you posted op
>you were everything to me and all i ever did was kill you...
>I'm so sorry...
>I'm sorry
>I can't forgive you Jackie...>how can i forgive you when it wasn't even your fault [\spoiler]
