As a child, this was one of the most memorable things I had seen in videogames. I remember losing my shit at the quality of the opening and ending cutscenes for this game. When I played X4 on the Sega Saturn, I was hoping we'd get more 2d games with high quality animated cut scenes. But everyone was hopping on the 3d polygon bandwagon, so I never really saw much of a golden age of 2D gaming that I had hoped for.

I appreciated Manias animated intro and callback to what CD perfected, but the music to it was a little too "chiptune" and was off-putting. They could have kept the rest of the tracks and just switched that primary instrument into a synth or a guitar and it would have been much improved stylistically.
