Its sorta fun to walk around and take in the sights especially with mods but everything else is lacking. Theres really fuck all to do in game other than copy pasted radiant quests magic is boring. Infact all combat is boring because its way to simple. Skyrim is the perfect example of wide as an ocean and shallow as a puddle. That being said I still go back to it every now and again. Its a good relaxing time waster.

Shitty combat, hitboxes aren't even close to the models, favorites and equipping system are garbo, power attacks cause stagger 90% of the time but the 10% they don't cause you to die, dragons are completely unrealistic garbage.

It's a decent game that can be a great game with mods depending on the kind of experience you use the mods to create.

If you like sandbox gameplay that can very unforgiving, with survival elements thrown in such as needing to eat, drink, sleep, stay warm or freeze to death, make camp fires etc, then modded skyrim is pretty damn good.

Just don't expect great storytelling.

Found it boring, to be honest. I remember checking the save file before uninstalling and seeing I clocked in 70+ hours. Most of those were spent either aimlessly wandering vast empty areas or completing copy/paste dungeons. I felt like it was designed to be a time waster while feeding you false sense of accomplishment.

Ultimately though, I'm just the wrong person to play that kind of game. I don't like games where I have to find my own fun, I like hand-crafted experiences. Of open worlds, I only really like those that are densely packed with hand-crafted content.

It had some stuff I enjoyed though, like getting smashed and waking up in Markath, the haunted house quest, it had some good quests but too much inconsequential filler shit in between.

The city design in Skyrim sucks, and the NPCs suck too.

Oblivion quest lines were varied and were nearly a game on their own. The ones in Skyrim felt like they were tacked on at the last second.

Honest opinion? It lacked content. The first few hours were exciting, but eventually you realise just how lacklustre it is. Walk, explore, walk, explore as you may; there is hardly anything cool to be found. For a person like myself who loves finding interesting loot - realising that I can simply craft items vastly better than anything that could be found, really takes away from the incentive to explore or to accept a challenging quest in the hope of receiving a good reward.

I find the only way to enjoy this game is to mod the living crap out of it.

Oblivions NPC schedules were far more detailed than skyrims and much longer. The world felt more alive. There was some AI features stripped out in skyrim as well. Morrowinds NPCs did absolutely nothing.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and so did /v/ for the first two weeks. Then it got popular so we all have to hate it. The game has its flaws and is certainly dumbed down compared to its predessesors in a lot of ways. But anyone who calls Skyrim an outright bad game has never played a truly bad game before.

I never actually finished it or started the DLC because it gets old so fast. Combat stays the same from start to end and every dungeon is basically the same. Crafting skills are the only things that have a sense of progression but they're all completely broken and consequently not satisfying.

I thought it was pretty fun, can go about 100 hours on a save. The major quests are pretty dumb, like the thieves guild and dark brotherhood, but if you don't take it too seriously, going in trying to hate the game, its pretty fun. The music is great and has a couple of the best tracks in the series. But definitely has the worst battle tracks. My biggest problem was the repetitiveness. Draugrs and claw doors. Thats a puzzle you're only supposed to use once, because when you figure out the solution they all jusy slow you down by like a minute for no reason. And all the other "puzzles" where the solution is literally above it, what the fuck. As an RPG, it's not. I still have fun with it, more than Oblivion. I played them in order so don't get triggered, Oblivion fags.

They stripped it down way too much. Loot is garbage since most things you can smith or enchant yourself. Destruction magic takes so much work to make useable and it still isn't that good. I sincerely miss being able to craft my own spells. Leveling up feels a lot less meaningful without actual stats to level up.

I can't get over how bad crafting is in this game. Smithing makes it so you have absolutely no reason to use found items since even from the start of the game with 25 Smithing you can craft something better than anything you find, since you can't upgrade enchanted items until later. The problem even applies to the unique items you find. So that takes the fun completely out of loot, which is a major reason people play a game like this. Money is also made trivial by alchemy.

What incentive do you now have to go exploring dungeons when everything you need can be obtained in town?

There is a multitude of other things wrong with the game but this is a fundamentally broken game design that affects everything else.

Mods "fixes" about half of the bad, some things are unfixable though. But still, with mods I have enjoyed several hours of it. Vanilla is okay the first time you play through as long as you don't expect much, but I can't understand how people want to replay it unmodded.

Good magic mods are usually part of bigger overhauls. Magic is utterly broken in Requiem (and I love it). Meanwhile most dedicated magic mods I've tried just add a lot of fluff.

That's part of the problem though. Why is the game being designed such that it has to be fixed with mods later? Sure I understand fixing the occasional bugged skill or item, but we're talking about entire system mechanics here.

The worst part about Skyrim is it just magnified the same thing that keeps the elder scrolls series from being a top tier franchise in my book - the world is dead and unresponsive except the player. It really kills any sense of progression or feeling of achievement you might get from your journeys.

Maybe I'll get the whole thing and mod it to fuck again and see if anything changes but I doubt it.

Like I personally played as a deer hunter and would make all my cash selling deer hides because I was big into the RP element.

and I'd make up scenarios and reasons why my character was going to place X or Y.

the investment value of skyrim was huge, the gameplay value among other things was lacking.
