The logical choice would have to be one of the V protagonists since they have special powers. Franklin isn't that great since it only works in a car, Michael is pretty good since he could take out multiple guys quickly, but Trevor has to be the one since he turns invincible.

If you don't pick him, he'll easily take out the guy you did pick. Either he'll tank through their attack and just kill them or act as a distraction and everyone else will kill them.

As your protector he's literally a tank. Even if they come at him one at a time to waste his special, he'd still kill at least one more of the others than anyone else could.
