>start playing morrowind for a few hours
>eventually my game becomes corrupted because of too many mods
>install mge
>configuring the graphics requires too much effort and if you fuck it up you have to repeat the entire 5 minute process again
Every god damn time.
How do you play Morrowind? Which mods are essential?
Played this game to death on Xbox back in the day. I re-purchased this game on Steam and currently have 50 hours logged. None of this is actual gameplay it's just from testing mods.

Literally just use the overhaul that comes with a single installer that people put together. It's not optimal, but for the amount of effort to improvement ratio it's by far the best thing to do. It takes like 1-2 hours max and it's basically impossible to fuck up as long as you pay attention to the instructions put forward.
Afterwards you can just chuck individual small things in if you need, but big fixes and some graphics stuff is more than enough.

use openmw. it's a lot more stable and you can activate/deactivate mods, the actual textures/meshes, not just esp
i play vanilla. i don't get nostalgia feels when the game's modded to hell and back

I played Morrowind a lot, but I still prefer it without any mods. Though as >>389652558 said, OpenMW can be nice.

There mods though which make the game objectively more enjoyable
>cleaner fonts
>picking up herbs makes them disappear
>magicka regeneration
>better signposts
>delayed brotherhood attacks
