Garry clearly mentioned that it wasn't set in stones that this "S&box" game would be a Gmod 2, it could be anything like an inhouse engine and shit. Don't hope too much on this, i would also LOVE to play TTT on a much better engine with not shitty- hit registration, shitty maps, shitty models that destroys the artstyle, cancerous pointshop and shit :)

Play it vanilla for a couple of runs, then install HD background textures.

Eventually, once you've beaten the game, install the Captain's Edition mod with the Infinite Space addon for a more sandboxy experience (or just go for regular CE if that's not your kind of thing).

CE makes it almost a whole different game.
