Its a mixture of salty mario 64 fanboys who are second only to melee fags in the tightness of their nostalgia goggles, and people who compare it to galaxy
Galaxy is arguably better but sunshine was still a great game, and it had the most fun atmosphere of the 3d mario platformers

and it's like fine. As long as Mario controls really well, and the environments are cute, the game will at least be fun. I personally think the controls feel a lot more responsive fun on an input-by-input basis than the Galaxy games, which is why I prefer it.
