I honestly never really liked the original Secret of Mana that much, all I remember is pain, suffering, and the bullshit magic system. I prefer the other Mana games.

Not really. Most of its claim to fame was the fact that it was a co-op action RPG, which was kind of a barely existence idea at the time. Take that away, and Link to the Past does pretty much everything better than this game in terms of offering a solid top-down action-adventure game... which is kind of pathetic considering that game is 2 years older and takes up half the cartridge space.

The combat is exactly the same as it was on snes. they've mentioned QoL changes but not shown any yet. I'm assuming time doesn't stop for magic but nobody's mentioned the mantis ant casting acid breath at the pax demo to confirm.

WHY? Yes, I get that this game is designed for couch co-op, but god dammit it's literally the current year and multiplayer has changed. If I wanted to play this game with the same people I played the original with growing up, then it'd have to be online since all 3 of us live in seperate cities.

You can notice at what point the devs started to remove stuff in the late game because they had to drop the disc support.

I'd like playing this with my friend who has probably never played it, but he's also a stoner with no sense of direction. Not sure how to balance letting him experience the game with my familiarity with it.
